SAW A RAT!!! 1/26/2012

SAW A RAT!!!! Was having a great time with the kids and all of the silly entertainment. Eating my food and all of a sudden saw a RAT come out from under my table into the kitchen. I spoke to the manager who only said I am sorry and hands me my bills. EXCUSE ME!! After giving him a piece of my mind, still he acted as if it was nothing. I would have appreciated an “I am so sorry”. “This never happens”, blah blah. Unacceptable and just plain rude! Not one ounce of customer service skills. This was no mouse. A RAT big, fat with a long tail, and no it was not part of the show. So disgusted with this place. If a RAT was just wandering about in the dining room, this place must be infested!! NEVER AGAIN AND I WILL TELL IT TO THE WORLD!! more

Long wait, disinterested staff 12/30/2011

Went there the day after Christmas. Doorman said it'd be a 5 minute wait. After 5 minutes, they let us in. The hostess took our name and how many in our party and said go up to the 2nd floor and they'll seat us up there in about 20 minutes. What happened to 5? She shrugs.\r \r We go upstairs and stand around a while with other people. After about 10 minutes a woman asks who's waiting for a table. SHE takes our name and number in our party (4 of us) and writes it down. How long a wait we ask. Shouldn't be long. after another 10 minutes - shouldn't be long. There are several tables sitting empty. Oh, those are for reservations. We called earlier and were told you don't take reservations. She shrugs. After waiting 30 minutes we leave. The hostess on the 1st floor says thanks for coming. I tell her we didn't eat. Is there a manager around? Oh if you wait here a little while he'll be here. I leave. On the way out is a sign asking for comments and an email address. And on the website are 2 email addresses. 2 of the three bounce back that the mailbox is full and the 3rd address doesn't get a response. Go to one downtown. We were there a year ago and everything was great. This place is leaching off of the downtown location's reputation. more

AMAZING EXPERIENCE FOR MY GIRLS!! 8/24/2010

I have been here before & it was always wonderful but this last Sun night, I brought my two little girls in and they were spoiled!! Eric and the staff gave them so much attention (while spoiling all the other customers too!)..they had a tour upstairs and down, met the characters running around and drank their Shirley Temples! My girls said that this was the BEST part of our trip to NYC (it even beat American Girl, all the shopping, other restaurants, museums--everything to them!!)...I had no idea that they would love it so much but I think the wildly excellent service was what pushed them over the top! The theme and decor is excellent too..I completely recommend this place esp if Eric is around--you will LOVE it! Bring your family! We will go now every time...<3 more

Creepy, goofey fun! 3/11/2010

I have eaten here for Sunday brunch and dinner, service was good, food was great (I love their fries), and the entertainment is so much fun. It really takes you by surprise. But good luck finding the bathroom, the staff loves giggling at you while you are looking for it too. It is hidden behind a bookcase. Also, they only take Amex and cash. Anytime someone visits me in the city, I always try to take them here. Highly reccommended! Pros: Entertainment while you eat, great for kids Cons: Hard to find bathrooms more

this place is not bad 6/12/2009

No Regrets For This Choice! 5/3/2009

I took my group Meet 4 Fun to the Jekyll & Hyde Pub on S. 7th Avenue last night on our third day trip to N.Y.C.. The management graciously accommodated our group of 25 and pretty much gave us the entire upstairs. Although a little slow at first, the service we received quickly graduated to five star once everyone got into their groove. We all had an absolute blast between the bend-over-backwards management to the friendly and capable service staff to the interactive actors who added the creme de la creme to our night. I can't wait to go back! This is a ""must not miss"" establishment. Just go there! Pros: Great service! Cons: A little too dark more

Fun for everyone! 3/15/2009

For kids of all ages this place is a must when you visit New York. I loved the costumes and all the interaction with people dressed the part! My friend was totally in awe of the special effects. The bartender was quick and funny, you can get a Jekyll mug for your drink for a small price., nice to take home. Pros: Great burgers-Unique place to dine Cons: A short wait in line outside-sometimes inside more

Great Entertainment!!! 2/24/2009

I went to Jekyll & Hydes on Avenue S to celebrate a friends birthday. I was a bit leery at first, being that I am not the biggest fan of spooky things/places, but this place was so cool!!! The food was decent, but the atmosphere and the ""actors"" were great!!! The butler was hysterical!! He kept us entertained (and laughing our heads off) throughout the entire meal. The place was a little dark, kind of hard to read the menus, but we asked the waiter for more candles on the table and had them in less than five minutes! Our waiter was polite and friendly. After our meal, I asked for the manager to compliment the butler and our waiter, as they made our experience there an awesome one!!! I highly recommend Jekyll and Hyde's to anyone who wants a fun dinner!!! Pros: great entertainment Cons: a little dark upstairs more

RESTAURANT FAILS TO PAY LEGAL DEBT TO CHILDREN 2/10/2009

Last August, this company was sued because of their failure to fulfill a contract with a high school group that had traveled 3,000 miles to visit New York and perform at Carnegie Hall. The evening at the Jekyll & Hyde club was a DISASTER and the New York City Civil Courts awarded a $5,000 judgment in favor of the poor students. \r \r J&H Club has refused to pay these children back for the hard-earned money they spent on what was supposed to be an exciting and memorable experience.\r \r I hope you will not put one penny into their coffers until they follow the court-ordered judgment and pay their debt. These children deserve no less that that which they are legally owed due to the negligence of this large corporation.\r \r Please - DO NOT SUPPORT THIS ESTABLISHMENT - at least until they honor their legal obligations. Pros: None - hence the disappointed diners Cons: The managers and owners are cons... more

Fun For Everyone! 12/20/2008

So much fun for friends and family. Excellent service and great food. So much fun for even the little ones in the group. My daughter loved to watch the eyes in the pictures move. This Resturaunt is so unique from any other I have been to. I live 4 hours from NYC and can't wait to venture back and see more that I may have missed. more

Worst Meal in New York!! 11/7/2008

15 teaching staff took a party of 130 teenage students from the U.K. to the Jekyll and Hyde club a couple of nights ago. I can't actually recollect a meal I've had as bad as this one. They were charged over $50 a head for undercooked burgers and chicken (many were actually frozen inside!!) and pizza, which simply defied description. We came in three equal sized groups; out of the first 70 meals, which came out, about 58 were returned. These meals later came out of the kitchen still undercooked. Our students aren't particularly fussy, but there wasn't a single positive comment about it. No refunds were offered; just a lame, insincere apology. How can this establishment put the health of our students at risk on this massive scale during a holiday for which the children had saved for two years? Avoid this place!!! We certainly will. Absolutely appalled. A poor reflection on this great city! more

The Jekyll and Hyde Club 7/29/2008

We had such a great time at The Jekyll and Hyde Club! We booked an event on a busy Saturday for my son's birthday. We got a great table right by stage (a table we would not have had if we didn't book in advance)! The entertainment was hilarious! When we booked they asked me personal questions about my son which they later used in the main show, he loved it! The food was great and I believe costed less booking then letting the kids choose off of the regular menu. The next birthday in my family is my husband's and I intend on surprising him with a party at The Jekyll and Hyde Club! I can't wait to go back! Pros: Entertainment, service, food, cost Cons: Wasn't long enough, could have stayed all day! more

Great fun! 1/24/2008

A much different type of restaurant that I'm usually used to. A friend brought me here last weekend. My first time here, never thought I would come to a theme restaurant. But I do have to say had a great time. The food was good and service was friendly, the entertainment though was the best. I had such a fun time that I intend to bring some of my friends here. Pros: fun, service Cons: little too busy at times more

Theme was great the food was average 1/14/2008

The atmosphere of restaurant is dark and somewhat supposed to be scary. They have moving objects like a mummy, skeleton, paintings that move and etc. Those were nice and adds flavor than the average restaurant. Their food was average and could of been better. Overcooked steak and meals were on a bit salty. The drinks served there were awesome. Our waitress was great and had a sense of humor. I might go back again but since Sushi Samba is next door, I might just go to Sushi Samba.... Pros: Scary theme, awesome service, nice drinks, humorous waiters and waitresses Cons: They should improve on their food more

AWFUL and a RIP-OFF! 12/31/2007

It was AWFUL!!! I went during school vacation with some friends and their children. I think the wait staff just started the week before. When we finally got our food ~ it was mediocre at best. The ""entertainment"" charge was ridiculous. When we questioned the entertainment fee we were told the staff in costumes walking around was the entertainment and the Vampira in a box were it. The floating characters was one man walking around with a duster. There was no interaction with any of us. I will never go back ~ it was definitely NOT worth it. more

The Perfect Date 10/1/2007

I was just reading some of the other reviews for the Jekyll and Hyde Pub and I was a little puzzled that it is rated as being ""not"" a romantic place. After having drinks at the bar many times over the last few years, I decided to take my new girlfriend there for dinner. It could not have been more perfect. We went there on a Friday night and even though the place was packed, the charming hostess found seats for us right away. Our server was perfect -- I could not have asked for better. She always had a smile for us -- a welcome change from sulky, sour servers you find a lot in the city -- but when she understood that we were on a date, she went out of her way to make it a special evening for us. She was there when she had to be there and she was discreetly absent when we needed time for ourselves. Yes, the place was a little noisy at times -- it is a theme restaurant after all -- but that just allowed us more privacy at our own table. The food was delicious and the drinks were wonderful. They even had a smile for us when we were leaving. I have been a patron for a long time and I will continue to go ther with pleasure. Highly recommended! Pros: Service, Food, Entertainment Cons: crowded more

Best birthday ever, best burgers in town 9/28/2007

I had heard of the Jekyll & Hyde several times from friends but had never been there till last saturday. It was my daughter's 12th birthday and so we decided to go there because I had heard it was a great place for celebrating birthdays. We had a blast! From the moment we walked into the door, we felt like we were the center of attention of the entire staff. They have a talking werewolf and a gargoyle who is a hilarious character -- they kept talking to us through the entire meal. In addition, our waitress was very attentive to our every need and everything seemed to happen very fast. And if I needed a reminder that we are actually in a restaurant and not a comedy club or theater, the food was really great -- I love burgers and the Jekyll and Hyde has the best burgers in town! My daughter absolutely loved the place -- they made her and all of us feel very special. Pros: entertainment, service Cons: may be a litte too loud and noisy at times more

Worst place I've ever been (I would give it no stars but I'm forced to give it one) 9/2/2007

Walking along 7th in the west village we happened upon this establishment that promised entertainment during dinner. The kids are fraidy cats but they love the goofy monster stuff so we stepped in. The first sign that we should've passed on this place was that it was empty on a Friday night. We sat and ordered two child pasta meals right away as the kids were hungry. The waiter refused to take the order before the drink order. Second sign that we should've passed. We placed our drink order along with the child meals and appitizers 5 minutes later. I'm guessing that the waiter was part of the show becuse I couldn't see any other patrons that he needed to serve. When the food was ready we saw our waiter again and he took the two adult meal orders. The food seemed fine, nothing special but how can you go wrong with pasta and butter? We soon found out. After eating 3/4 of her meal my daughter stopped eating. Now this is normal for an eight year old who's excited to just watch the entertainment. When she told me why she wanted to stop eating I couldn't beleive it. There was a fly inside of her penne!! After flagging down the waiter he said that he didn't understand how a fly got inside of her penne. He offered to take her meal off of the bill but when my wife insited that they remove both pasta meals he reufused. Stating that my son ate half the food. My wifes agrument was that the food prepared toghether so if my daughter's pasta was not any good then how could my sons pasta be good. The manager offered shirts and mugs worth far more than the meal but my wife only wanted the meall off of the menu. When we couldn't come to an agreement we just asked for our bill. We noticed that there was a gratuity already included. The gratuity came to 18% of the meal. Since I didn't agree that the waiter deserved 18% I took the cost of the meal off of the gratuity. The manager chased us down 7th asking for the additional $10 I refused and walked away. Pros: mecchanical entertainment was fun Cons: food and service more

Great fun!!! 12/23/2006

Wow, what a great time. We decided to skip the uptown location because we heard of the long lines and wait and made a reservation with the downtown Jekyll and Hyde instead. It was a good move! We dined on Thursday and enjoyed every minute of it. We weren't expecting that type of fun they gave. The entertainment by the ""actors"" were very funny, kept us laughing all throughout. No complaints about the service. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The food was good too. Recommend the sizzling fajitas, it was great. Big selection of beer, 100 bottles of beer! They had this big yard glass of beer that we saw but were too intimidated to try. Maybe next time. We definitely recommend this place. It was fun for the whole family. Pros: Entertainment, service Cons: Can't think of anything more
