Don't go here! 3/28/2011

Let me preface this by saying that I have come to this Jean Madeline a few times now to be sure that it was not just a matter of my getting a ""bad student"" when walking away dissatisfied. Three times, I have been to this place, and three times I have walked away with roots at least 1/4-1/2"" thick despite paying to have my hair colored. The first time it happened, I thought, ""Well, maybe the school teaches them not to take the color all the way up to the scalp, but for coloring this cheap, I'll give them another chance."" The next time I went, I explicitly asked the young lady doing my hair whether she could take the color all the way to the scalp so I didn't leave with roots. She assured me she would. Yeah, I left with roots. So, I stopped going there, realizing that, even if a place is cheap, if I have to go there more often because of how little time I get before my roots are God awful, then it's not really saving me money. So, I went to a regular salon, and my stylist was a Jean Madeline graduate. I asked her whether Jean Madeline taught them not to go all the way up to the scalp when doing color, and she said that is not what the students are taught. After paying a large bill at the regular salon but loving how my hair looked, I was torn. .. ""Should I give Jean Madeline another chance?"" I thought? Well, I did, and boy do I regret it! I have an important job interview coming up on Thursday, and I am not rolling in money at the moment. However, my roots have grown in very noticeably, so I thought, ""Let me just get them done cheaply at Jean Madeline and be VERY, VERY insistent that they color up to the scalp."" I make an appointment for what was supposed to be tonight at 6:30. I get a text message the next day, asking me to confirm my appointment. I do. I get a confirmation that my appointment it set via text message. Today, the day of the appointment, I get a reminder via text message, telling me that I have an appointment today 6:30. So, I take time off of work, I drive 45 minutes in rush hour traffic, I arrive at the door and - wait for it - THEY'RE CLOSED!!! I'm talking lights off, door locked, not a soul in sight. I call the numbers for the salon - no answer except from a recorded message telling me they will be open til 10pm. I call their other two locations, trying to get in touch with a human being - no answer. So, now I a) lost time off b) wasted gas c) wasted time and d) now have very little chance of my hair being taken care of in time for my job interview. You may be inexpensive, Jean Madeline, but in the future, I will either pay extra to get the job done and done correctly or take my chances at the Hair Cuttery where, at the very least, I know that the place will be open if I've scheduled an appointment. more
