Expensive and really really not kind 8/2/2012

I got the front tube tire fixed: job was done quickly and apparently ok for 22 $ with taxes. The waiters were really unkind, I' writing this as I felt really bad in the shop (i don't usually write reviews!). After two days my bike was on ground again, I went there to ask forum the mechanic had check for needles and stuff when changing the tube; again found very bad treatment. I bought a new tube and instruments for 12 $ and I fixed it my self. I then discovered a place called cyclab in Princeton: much better!! If you need to buy great stuff I don't know, but whatever place might be better than that! more

Reliable but NOT discounted... 7/20/2011

They are quick to repair things well. Picked up the bikes today. $7 per tube $9 labor to replace it. Tires $20 (standard tire not race tire). True a bent rim $15. The place is crazy busy, but the adult folks at the desk have achieved Nirvana (calm at all times). Bikes all over the place outside. Super short parking lot barely fits modern vehicles. Have to usually park around the block and walk over. They finished the our Trek bikes when promised. Everyone was nice. Bikes ride like a charm, but the $109 bill for two new tires, three new tubes and bent front rim repair was an "ouch". I don't know who Jay is, but read reviews on here and if it's the guy with the pony tail...he was really cool with us. I would go again, but hopefully not for a long time, as it's a small car payment. Maybe all bike shops are around this amount, couldn't say. Did the job quickly and work seems really good. more

rude and dishonest, stay away 9/14/2009

We brought an older bike into the shop to have some repairs done; the guy who we showed the bike to remarked how it was a "piece of sh**". After going over the list of repairs and leaving the bike with them, we got a call saying that it would be "too difficult" to get the right parts ordered and that we should look into buying a new bike instead. We went in to the shop to get the bike back, and another guy (not a mechanic) said that the repairs would be no problem after all, and the mechanics were just being lazy and trying to push new bikes. So we let them work on the bike after all, although in the end they conveniently forgot which headlight we'd picked out and chose a more expensive one for us. When picking up the bike, one of the mechanics gave us some more drama over the placement of the U-lock; the whole experience was like dealing with 12-year old boys. more

decent bike shop 9/17/2005

the owner is kind of a bitter guy. but the bike store is a good place if you live in the area. the mechanics are top notch and the service, if you go to one of the employees other than jay himself, are pretty good. they sell a ton of treks and might try pushing one on you but the selection extends beyond. lots of high end stuff. the repair dept is also pretty good. the turnaround time is pretty quick and prices are reasonable. more

Biking beginner 8/11/2005

This little place was discovered on one of our soothing walks around Princeton. We had a request for a new bike from my stepdaughter. We were clueless about styles/brands. Jay's cycles at 249 Nassau St in Princeton was a hit. There was a great variety and a friendly staff. Good thing we were on a walk as their parking lot is diminutive to say the least. Other than that, it's a great pick. I'd rather give them business than the #$5marts in town. more
