A good auto mechanic is hard to find. I've worked on my own cars for many years and can tell when a mechanic knows what they are doing or just trying to make money. Japanese Specialists has been the ONLY auto repair I've dealt with since moving to Florida in 2004. They keep my vehicles in top shape. I am NEVER misled or told I need service that is not necessary. more

"A 5 Star Experience" 12/29/2011

I moved here from Canada in 2003, and needing a reliable mechanic to work on my Izuzu 'Trooper', I asked a young man working in a tire store who he considered a competent, honest, trustworthy mechanic. He didn't even pause to think. He said with complete assuredness, "David Genchur at the 'Japanese auto Specialist'". When a kid with a not-so-new car that runs like a top tells you something like that, you listen! I have been going to David for all my repair needs ever since, and have never once had cause to regret it! He knows what he's talking about and he is respected by everyone he deals with! He is a 'virtual magician' in the Japanese car kingdom! He now takes care of my daughter's Lexus also. Thanks David for all you do! I am Sincerely grateful, Jean Skoryna more

Superior Service / Excellent Pricing 12/24/2011

A winning situation throughout. I recently purchased a 2002 A2000 with 60K miles. I knew it needed some maintainence items attended to. Pricing beat the local Honda dealer and David explained what the car needed now and what could wait. The car was picked up and delivered for me as I was out of town. There will be no need to go to the dealer. more

Just had an oil change done and a complete analysis of my car. Once again, David gave clear explanations of what was going on with my vehicle. Along with a thorough analysis of what was working well and what would need my attention later. I appreciate the service that I receive at the Japanese Specialists and now my entire family services their cars there. more

Old Car New Tricks 12/16/2011

Man. Even when David has a full plate during the holidays, he and his team managed to repair...actually, RESTORE my old Acura Integra GSR to a condition beyond what I remembered. This must have been the way it felt when it was a new car back in '97. He took the time to figure out exactly what the car needed, and just one step into the preventative to keep things going until the next big restorative repair...but just that much so we can balance our pocketbook while driving a safe car. They really are the best. 'Nuff Said. more

RX7 Repairs 12/2/2011

David at Japanese Specialist keeps my family's cars in good working order. I just had my 1994 Mazda Rx7 repaired for a bad air pump, he found the part and had it installed for a fair price. He also made sure to secure my car for Thanksgiving weekend when it was towed to them after their closing time on a Friday night. more

My wife and me have been taking our cars to David for over a decade. He provides OUTSTANDING service, has told me what I needed done, given me a fair price for the work every time, tells me what the time frame should be. He has made suggestions that have saved me money! I TRUST David completely because he has proved to me just how HONEST he is!!! David's business should be used as a model for others in this trade!! I am a long time customer of David's, he even treated my "Japanese Ford" way back when. It is with great pleasure to write and express my gratitude and appreciation for the excellent service he provided on numerous occasions over the years. His service and skills are far above and beyond, he always goes the extra mile and I have no problems recommending his service and company to friends and acquaintances. It is becoming all to rare these days to find a company that goes through such great length and the "extra mile" to satisfy it's customers. I was very satisfied with the service. They were very thorough in explaining what was wrong with my vehicle, and I was confident that they knew what they were talking about. The owner took time to explain everything to me in terms I could understand. Not once was I confused about what was going on, which can be a major problem at most shops. They are more knowledgeable than the staff at the Mazda shop, which in my opinion is a hard thing to do when dealing with rotary engines. Plus they take time to talk to you on a one on one basis and are extremely polite, a rarity in Jacksonville. #1 more

For example, if you need new break pads, he will show you your abraded break pads and explain how they wore thin. I like the prompt and detailed response. The diagnosis was very thourough and made it easy to determine my approach to taking care of the work needed on my car. I've owned my car for 11 years and would like to enjoy it for several more years. The cost of repairs was very reasonable. I feel like I got a very good value. more
