Best

well. At a time in my life when everything was going wrong, my alternator in my trusty honda crv broke down...being a newly single mom, my financial situation isn't all that great...

Worst

A job well done. 3/25/2011

I'm surprised to see the bad reviews. I have used Japanese Auto repair twice and have found them honest, reliable and to do good work. I guess it depends on your expectations. I have a 2000 Honda Prelude which I normally have had serviced at a Honda dealer. I bought the car new, and believe in the idea that it is worth paying for good maintenance. I'm not looking for the cheapest job, but good quality work that will keep this car running well for several more years. The model isn't made anymore. There were a number of issues that had to be resolved including a cracked catalytic converter. Japanese auto correctly diagnosed the issues (which I was pretty certain about for a number of reasons), made the repairs, completed a full service, provided parts to my specification at reasonable prices. I felt that the total price was fair, especially in comparison with what I would pay at the dealership in San Francisco. I'm fussy about this vehicle, and I'm pleased with the service provided. Perhaps it is all about expectations, but I have found no reason for complaint, rather a reason to recommend Japanese Auto Repair in Provo. more

What a joke 9/21/2010

This place sucks. Don't GO here!!! The guy quoted me on one price, but when he found out another company quoted me higher he tried to change his quote. I walked out. It's a joke, they are very dishonest people and yet they put pictures of lds temples and christ on their wall to try and manipulate customers into thinking they are an honest company. Very un-profesional, read the previous reviews. I choose 0 stars. more

Dishonest 9/20/2010

I took my audi in to have the emissions/safety check. They failed my car. Most places would have let the things they failed it for slide (window regulator needing replaced). They failed many things with the exception of a broken rear view mirror he said was okay. He gave me a list of things to fix and 15 days to fix them. I felt frustrated, but I took my car in to a friend and had it fixed. 7 days later I brought it back to the same mechanic. (side note: I waited 15 min for him to get off a personal phone call and FB) Then the mechanic requires me to fix my rear view mirror before he passes me, when previously he told me he would let it slide. He wanted business. He was going to let the mirror slide once. BUT since I didn't allow him to fix what was ""needed"" before, he was making me fix the mirror with HIM. The moral is - if he could let it slide before, he could now. He told me last time he was cutting me a break. I asked him why he cant cut me one now? He beat around the bush. He could not give me an answer. All he wanted was money. Very shady. If you take your car here you can expect they will look for any reason to charge you, especially with safety/emissions when they know you're under a deadline to renew tabs. (and by the way, my car was in the exact same condition as last yr and it passed by another company) more

can't trust them 2/11/2010

I took my vehicle to them and they said it would be two weeks it ended up being a month. they lost my original key. They didn't get the job done right the first time. THEY PULLED ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH MY BRAND NEW ENGINE LITTLE LONE THEY USED MY VEHICLE FOR THEIR PERSONAL USE. All they want is your money. Oh some of my property was stolen out of my vehicle while in their possession Pros: no pros Cons: not trust worthy more

AS CROOKED AS THEY COME 12/11/2008

Really not too bad at all 5/15/2008

I've had good luck taking my cars here. They have the best prices in town, and have always seemed to fix the car properly. I'm about to take the Toyota minivan in for rear brakes. The cheapest way to do this is to go buy them at the parts store yourself, then take them over to have them installed. The labor was quoted to me at $75, so the total brake job should be about $100. That's a lot better than most people, who are quoting about $150. more
