i've been to jannie's manny times and the food and service is ALWAYS wonderful. no matter what time i come or what day of the week, the food and service is always wonderful. when you first walk in the door, the waiter or waitress greets you kindly. the restaurant is pretty classy so you'll feel comfortable. the menu is amazing. i can never look at all the dishes because there is just so much to choose from! although the quantity is small, it fills you up! the sushi is amazing! i always get sushi no matter what. dragon roll is one of my favorites. there's a big parking lot so you don't have to worry about parking. there's even a supermarket near by. one of the most try restaurants! I have dined here no less than 25 times over the years. For the most part, the service along with the quality of the food has been consistently good. We have had the buffet they offer on the weekends many times and fare was above average. Fresh Sushi, sometimes exotic, mostly Cali & eel or spicy rolls are always a favorite as it goes quick. The steamed & fried dumplings also a favorite, along with the tempera veggies. Service can range from not so good to excellent, but mostly it is acceptable. As of 9.5.08 - we noticed the buffet sign has been removed and we are not sure if they still offer it. Usually it was Sat & Sun 12-3pm. I would call before you go. My boyfriend and I decided to go here once, because it said ""Dim Sum"" on the store. Unfortunately, it didn't serve dim sum. I asked the waitress about it and she told me that only have it during weekends and not all the time, plus she even told me it was from frozen. That's gross. So we ended up ordering lunch specials.. It wasn't really that good, all the food taste the same. The soup was bad, didn't have any flavors. I was too scared to try sushi, since it didn't look like they were fresh. We never went back. I often ordered take out from Jannie's for various occasions, family birthdays, dinners, etc. I noticed that not only with each time was the quality of food going down, but items would either be missing or sent incorrectly. One example is when I ordered a Japanese noodle dish with shrimp. It was delivered to me without shrimp. When I called I was told I would receive a credit of that item or they could send the driver back with just a container of shrimp. But it would take a while. Geeeee how nice of them! I chose the credit and I ordered again, why I don't know... but I did. And I asked that instead of the same noodle dish would they replace with a quart of shrimp fried rice, a dish $3 cheaper than the original. ""No problem the woman said."" Upon receiving my order, instead, she had replaced the item with the tiny piny size! When I called again she said since I didn't receive the shrimp the first time a tiny size fried rice should cover it. Cons: Horrible customer service more

I've been religiously going to Jannie for the past 7 years. I have not had a bad piece of sushi yet! The only other place that I have found comparible to Jannie's was located in Nevada! And it is so moderately priced. For a sushi dinner, you receive tea, fresh fried noodles with fresh duck sauce, miso soup, 10 - 12 pieces of sushi, along with a full tuna roll (which I substitute with a california roll for no extra charge!) All for about $17.00 to $18.00! If you let them know that you do not like a certain type of sushi ( like squid for me ), they will actually ask you what you would prefer! They have awsome service and make their sushi dinner look like a piece of art. I would highly recommend it to any sushi lover. And they have chinese food to boot...so you can bring non-sushi lovers along! more

This place has some of the best sushi in Northeast Philly. Sushi is always fresh and the prices are dirt cheap. Also the lunch special menu has some great Chinese food. Not only does this place have really good sushi at superstar prices, but also has chinese too --under one roof! Very large menu with all the familiar japanese. and chinese items you crave. Highly recommended. more
