My wife and I took 2 friends for dinner and the only selection with any seasoning was the refried beans which had enough salt in it to help flavor every other dish we had.\r I can't understand why this place is always so busy. We have had better Mexican food at Chipotle's (fast food) restaurant and it didn't cost anywhere near as much as Jalepenos. more

good atmosphere, but that doesn't make up for flavorless food and absent waitress 11/17/2008

We are semi-regular visitors to Jalapeno Inferno over the past couple months. The atmosphere is always good but we have yet to have all the other aspects that make a good dining experience. Food is average or below with service even lower. Management is not responsive or friendly to needs either. Your best bet is to stop in for a margarita at the bar and then go somewhere else for dinner, or better yet save the gas money and have the margarita somewhere else too. Gave them too many chances. Pros: good margaritas Cons: bad everything else more

Best Cheese Dip & Flour Chips 6/4/2008

When I lived in AZ this place was always a favorite. Now I make it a point to visit Jalapeno Inferno every time I am in town. I am planning several trips to Scottsdale this Summer and can't wait to try the swordfish tacos!!! The service has always been spotty (sometimes good and sometimes not) but the food is always beyond fantastic. If you don't let spotty service spoil your meal then this may be some of the best Mexican food you'll ever have. If you are a cheese dip fan, make sure to try the spinach con queso and ask for a bowl of just flour chips. Pros: Great Food Cons: Spotty Service more

Thank god! An awesome non chain restaurant 4/5/2008

Our favorite mexican food in the valley with very reasonable prices to boot! Very fresh salsa and I highly recommend the chicken fundido! Pros: food, atmosphere, service Cons: taco bell takes up all the other real estate for more mexican food places like this more

Terrible unfriendly staff and sub par food 3/4/2008

Absolutely the rudest, laziest bar staff I have ever experienced in my life. I liked their food, but really the place has gone into the toilet. Dont go there, unless you like being ignored and overcharged. more

Good food, but the service could be better. 12/10/2007

I am have been here 3-4 times now. The food is pretty good, but not the best mexican I have had. It is a little pricey for some of the basic dishes. The thing that brings this place down is service. Everytime I have been here the service has been less then par. I enjoy the patio so I will be back, but you can only give a restrauant so many chances! more

A long, slow Sunday nite? 10/22/2007

Usually stay in south Scottsdale, but always looking for authentic mex or southwest haunt. Traveled 20 miles with 3 others on a Sunday nite around 7:45. The restaurant was not very busy and we were not greeted with a friendly smile or attitude from the girl sitting in an empty booth talking with another employee (not about business). We were quickly seated and greeted shortly by an older waitress, that although with a smile, we felt as though she was going thru the motions. After getting our orders with 2 orders slightly incorrect for the type of beans asked for, our waitress did a nice job of attending to our needs. We were also later asked (my a Manager?) if everthing was OK...again without much of a personality or sincerity. It is evident so far that no mention of the good eats is mentioned because it was good...not great and the attitudes did not make us feel welcomed (was it just a bad nite, maybe). Would I travel 20-25 minutes again, probably not, but if I was in the area I would give it another try. more

The best mexican food in town. 11/24/2006

This is the best Mexican food in town and I should know I grew up here! The atmosphere is great too. more

Wonderful Mexican Food 7/12/2006

You can't go wrong at Jalapenos Mexican Cafe. We moved to Phoenix about 4 months ago and we've been enjoying discovering area restaurants. Jalapenos is by far the best mexican we've found. We were a little nervous that a place called Jalapenos in Arizona would have food spiced at a searing hot level. Not so. The chips and salsa were a delight. The chips were a combination of well made corn chips with a few fried flour tortillas thrown in for variety. The salsa was pleasantly mild and fresh tasting with chunks of tomato, onion and cilantro. Pros: Great food and service. Cons: Parking was a bit of a challenge on an early Thursday evening. more

Best Tamales! Best Salsa and Chips! 6/28/2006

Great young staff that's really seems to care about your dining experience. The food seems very authentic! I love coming here since they enlarged the Bar making it more inviting. Pros: Money's Worth for sure! Cons: Should stay open later like every restaurant in a Resort should more

Awesome Margaritas 6/22/2006

What a find! This place is great. Best margaritas in Phoenix. Not only is the food and service top notch, the Cantina rocks. My new Thursday night hang out. Ladies Night every Thursday in the Cantina. more

Good Food, Great Service, Very nice atmosphere 6/17/2005

Stopped into this great Mexican Food Restaurant by accident. It is hidden in a small shopping center across the street from Rawhide. The people there are so pleasant and this little restaurant sure has great food. This is now one of our local favorites. more

This is the place to go! 6/15/2005

I am a Mexican food fan and Jalapeno's fullfills all my mexican food cravings! You will be seated promptly, you will get those drinks refills without having to flag anyone down, and you will order before your full of the best chips and salsa. The food is great and I try to take all my friends. Already have several people hooked. more

AWESOME!!! 3/14/2005

Probably some of the best food and drinks I've ever had, not to mention the best Mexican by far. Lots of cool, weird margaritas, and it has a creek too. Pros: the best margaritas, good seafood, excellent service Cons: , often a wait more

Great Place 1/5/2005

Some of the best mexican food in town. Lots of places have good taste and seasonings, but the food quality here is way above par. I've had something different all three times I went and it was all great! I have nothing bad to say about this place Pros: Great, Mexican, Foos more
