Best

I have been a patient of Dr. Gail Jackson for over 15 years. When my insurance changed, I changed my primary care physician so that I could remain a patient in her medical group....

Worst

This has been horrible. I'm 7 months pregnant and hoping to find a new Doctor. AT MY LAST VISIT:\r \r - After waiting an hour, was seen by the Nurse not the Dr. I was dehydra...

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/29/2012

DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR. Dr. Jackson thought I looked thin and decided I needed to have my blood drawn for thyroid test, in AUGUST. They didn't give me the results. I spoke to the receptionist two times and asked that they mail the results to me. No results, no phone call. It is NOVEMBER 29! I am getting a bill from the lab, and despite my requesting the results (which no patient should have to do), I still do not have the results. Also, a couple years ago, I had my urine tested for urinary tract infection. I called twice that week, and NO RESPONSE ABOUT MY RESULTS! I called FRIDAY---oh, yes, it was positive. Did they call me in any medication? NO? I had to wait over the weekend with no medication for a UTI. Irresponsible. I was foolish to return to their office. That much is my fault. This doctor is irresponsible. I cannot see any reason to trust her with your gynecological health. DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR. Was I clear enough? DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR. more

Wrong dosage, over-medicated me!!!! Cost me $$$!!!! 5/16/2012

On my first visit to Dr. Jackson she wrote a prescription with three times the dosage I was supposed to take. Besides the obvious concern of having been over-medicated, when I called her she would not let me speak and only directed me to talk to her blilling department, a billing dept in India! This doctor will not admit her errors and will not do anything about to rectify her wrong doings. I would not send my worst enemy (if I would have one) to this doctor. more

ALMOST LOST MY LIFE! (part 2) 12/8/2009

It has been (3) years since I had my child and I can finally write this review ... I should have left from Dr. Gail Jackson's care during prenatal visits as she would never listen to my concerns regarding edema and severely swollen ankles and legs. She'd tell me I was ""too vain"" and that I should stop wearing high heels. I also called her Mrs. Jackson once and she very quickly corrected me with ""it's Dr. Jackson"". Yes office visits were long and sometimes I would end up only seeing a nurse practitioner because of her hectic schedule but what took place on the day of delivery and thereafter leaves me very skeptical about doctors and their professionalism.\r \r I was to deliver via scheduled cesarean at noon one day, but 12-hours earlier (at midnight) the baby decided to come. I called Dr. Jackson and headed to the hospital. Dr. Jackson did not return the call until 2am and stated that she would not be coming to the hospital until 7am as she had another scheduled c-section at 8am, so I could try to deliver naturally or wait on her! She allowed me to go through labor pains for 7-hours waiting on her. Finally I delivered a beautiful son but the journey was not over. I felt very weak and just not right. I also still looked 9 months pregnant after delivery. The next day was worse and I continued to ask the nurses about my bloated belly. Finally when Dr. Gail saw me, 2 days later, she had tests run and it resulted that I needed 3 blood transfusions. Dr. Jackson explained that ""you did lose alot of blood on the right side of the uterus during delivery"". I had to be fed intravaneously for 4 days and when my mom would complain to the nurses about my feeding schedule after being taken of fluids, Dr. Jackson called my room and literally yelled at me, stating ""Is your mother a doctor? What does she know about what you should eat? If you want to get out of there you need to tell your mother to leave! She's only pissing off the nurses and making it worse for you!"" I was in tears and told my mother that she was making it hard on me. She flew back to Atlanta the next day. \r Pros: Convenient and wanted to put$ into African-American business Cons: Worst situation ever! more

ALMOST LOST MY LIFE! (part 2) 12/8/2009

I saw Dr. Jackson only once after that. She added tea to my menu but the nurses did not bring it stating that it had not been written in my file b4 the dr. left. I paged Dr. Jackson to call the nurses desk and have it added. Dr. Jackson called my room and, again, yelled at me stating, ""I'm in a meeting! Why are you paging me about some damn tea!"" LITERALLY. Again, in tears. My delivery was during the holidays and Dr. Jackson was going on vacation so after this she left me and I only saw resident doctors. I was released 7 days after my delivery. I went home... 5 days later I had excruciating pain in my abdomen and was rushed to emergency. Turns out I had an abscess. Dr. Jackson had hit an artery during the delivery and did not repair it, thus, I was bleeding internally for 13 days! I had a tube inserted that was supposed to drain from the abscess, however, very little did and there was talk of another surgery to repair the situation. On top of this and my body being so compromised my body began to fail me in all areas and I saw several doctors that could not determine or explain what was happening with me. They even had the chaplain visit my room and I was scared. My heart was enlarged for a 31 year old woman, I developed pneumonia, my blood pressure remained sky-high ... it was terrible. It was finally determined that the abscess would eventually naturally re-absorb so no surgery would be performed. I was prayerful and adamant about getting better. My mom had flown back out and my baby was at home while I was hospitalized. I was going through it bad and with no answers I was determined to get out of there. I got better and was released after 9 days. Never once during this return to the hospital was I contacted by Dr. Jackson. After being home for 3 days I was in the hospital again for back spasms as my back was over-compensating for the abdomen that was unable to support me and possibly due to being bed-ridden for so long. I stayed admitted for 2 days this time. I went home prescribed with a physical therapist to aid in my recovery. The therapist would come 3 days/ week over the next 3 months (that tells you what kind of condition I was in). I returned to the hospital again 2 weeks later as the incision site was infected. I also had to have a Thoracentesis to remove the fluid from my lungs. I just could not seem to get better. I remained looking very pregnant for 90 days. My body was in such disarray that my maternity leave was extended for 9 months. I complained to the medical group about my interaction with Dr. Jackson and they apologized for her ""bedside manner"". My medical records were so long that it cost me $254 to retain them. I thought about suing the doctor but there is a 1-year timeframe for pursuing a medical case and I was focused on getting better and enjoying my baby. My delivery was in 2006 (and I'm sure Dr. Jackson is quite aware of who is writing this) and I am just now feeling like recovery is finally over. I recently had a hernia repair surgery to repair a hernia that came through a weakening in the abdomen. I am just happy to be alive and wish I would have never encountered Dr. Gail Jackson. Karma.... \r It's saddening to see how many poor reviews a doctor has. Can you believe she, nor her office, never followed up with me to see how baby was or to see why I had not come for my post-delivery appointment? Shame ... Pros: Convenient and wanted to put$ into African-American business Cons: No bedside manner and does not listen to her patients more

NEEDS TO TAKE MORE TIME 11/5/2009

As a women we all want to know what could potentially go wrong in the future. She will address that. The draw back is the rush, and not giving details, telling you to read, go on the internet ?????? What are we paying her for. She is more concern with your fashion, or hair, then medical concerns.\r \r I guest she just needs to be a doctor with more concern to the patients needs, and take her time.. Pros: Is interested in female concerns Cons: She is always rushing, cutting you off from question. more

One of the BEST !!!!~ 6/8/2009

I have been a patient of Dr. Gail Jackson for over 15 years. When my insurance changed, I changed my primary care physician so that I could remain a patient in her medical group. She is a great doctor and I have always received wonderful care from her and her staff. She is always pleasant and caring. A very forward thinking doctor, Dr Jackson seeks the best for her patients. Most of all she is a great person (not perfect but a human being) whom in my opinion is genuinely and sincerely concerned about those in her care. I recommend Dr. Jackson to any woman needing a great GYN-OB -- If I had a daughter I would send her to Dr. Jackson without reservation. She is definitely one of the best! Pros: Patient CARE Cons: I know of none more

Highly Recommended 5/5/2009

Dr. Jackson is a wonderful person. She makes me feel comfortable (which can be hard to do!), and is extremely intelligent – clearly on top of her game. I truly feel lucky to have discovered her. Pros: amazing woman! more

love dr. jackson 5/3/2009

I was having hormone issues and Dr. Jackson was the only doctor to administer bioidentical hormones to me and really explain what she was doing. I have never felt better.\r \r I even met a woman on the street who was saying how great she felt, and I asked why and how? She told me she had been to Dr. J. and went on to gush about how knowledgeable, kind and helpful she had been.\r \r I think I Dr. Jackson is one of the best in town! \r \r Pros: very knowledgeable more

Great doctor! 5/2/2009

I've been going to Gail for a couple years now and I have to say I almost look forward to my checkups! She is sweet and always bubbly so I feel really comfortable (even in uncomfortable positions!). Also, she's super smart and knowledgable--I can tell she's on top of the latest on everything and tells me like it is. I definitely recommend her. Pros: smart and really cares Cons: going to the obgyn at all! more

Bad experience 4/8/2009

I wouldn't go back to this gyn. It took several days of pursuing her staff to get lab results back and I found the doctor to be dismissive. Pros: There were absolutely no pros more

Great Experience! 8/26/2008

I've been seeing Dr. Jackson for about 3 years now and I haven't experienced anything negative like what these other people are saying. Actually, she delivered my first baby last November and she was the most incredible doctor I could have imagined! The nurse had me pushing (ineffectively) for hours. Dr. Jackson stopped by, on her lunch break, to check on me, and took control of the whole situation! She was clearly in charge and knew what she was doing in that delivery room! She got me to focus and push the baby out! I remember feeling like I just couldn't do it....until she came along. Once she got there, she made me feel like I could do anything. She was amazing! I will be, forever, grateful to Dr. Jackson for bringing my son into the world! more

Please go elsewhere! 7/29/2008

I had a terrible experience with this doctor. She and her staff left me scared, confused, and often in tears. The wait time is terrible, yes, but I've come to expect that from doctors. What I did not expect was to be treated so poorly. She literally said ""I don't know,"" when I asked her questions. She did not explain what she was doing, and she failed to give me information that was very important for my future health. I will be switching to a new doctor as soon as possible, and I highly recommend women go elsewhere. I can honestly say I feel emotionally scarred from my visits to Dr. Jackson. Pros: The nurses and other staff are sometimes friendly. Cons: Pretty much everything. more

WORST!!!!! 7/19/2008

This was the worst doctors experience i've EVER had. She completely ruined my whole day. I was in a vulnerable state because of the nature of my visit. After waiting for 1 hour, she saw me for a total of about 1 1/2 minutes. She was rude, didn't ask me about my concerns, and was completely dismissive. After she left the room, i was almost in tears. The nurse came in and apologized profusely saying ""I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to see someone else. She does this all the time."" Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away from this place - you'll leave feeling 100X worse than when you came in. Pros: ONE nice nurse Cons: everything else more

Great Doctor! 6/2/2008

I have had ""woman"" issues all of my life. Dr. Jackson was the only doctor who gave me the information I needed to make an informed decision. She seems to keep up with advances in medicine which is great when you are speaking of hormone issues. She has truly helped me. \r I needed surgery and she walked me through the entire process. She truly kept me informed of what would happen step by step.\r \r Her staff is always pleasant and kind to me. I will go to no other doctor! Pros: informed doctor more

Dr.Gail JAckson 5/27/2008

My visit to Dr.Gail JAckson\r \r \r i was so scared and thought i was going to lose the baby. She was so sweet and nice and reasurring. i am happy we were referred there. The staff is so very nice. They saw me immediately and gave me a group hug after. My friends all go to her and I see why. They said to expect to wait a bit but my wait was not bad at all. My baby is healthy....she was amazing and supportive in the delivery room. I felt so safe. Pros: I felt loved and honored more

GAIL JACKSON SHOULD HAVE HER MD LICENSE REVOKED IMMEDIATELY!!!!!! 5/5/2008

PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THE TRAUMA OF SEEING THIS DOCTOR. MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WERE PREGNANT AND STILL ON THE FENCE AS TO WHAT WE SHOULD DO IN TERMS OF HAVING THE BABY OR HAVING A PROCEDURE. WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THIS DOCTOR BY WAY OF A GOOD REFERRAL, (WRONG!!!!). FIRST OFF, WE WAITIED 40 MINUTES AFTER OUR APPOINTMENT TIME TO BE SEEN. ONCE THE EXAM BEGAN, THE DOCTOR PROCEEDED TO ASK MY GIRLFRIEND IF SHE HAS HAD A TERMINATION PROCEDURE BEFORE, TO WHICH THE ANSWER WAS YES. THE DOCTOR THEN SAID TO MY GIRLFRIEND THAT SHE OBVIOUSLY HADNT LEARNED HER LESSON FROM THE LAST PROCEDURE AND HOW COULD SHE EMOTIONALLY SUSTAIN ANOTHER PROCEDURE, SAYING, ""ONCE YOU HAVE A CHILD YOU WILL REGRET THIS DECISION AND HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO YOUR CHILD?"" SHE ASKED MY GIRLFRIEND RIDICULOUS QUESTIONS LIKE, ""YOU DO KNOW THIS WOULD BE A LIFE YOU ARE THROWING AWAY?"" DR JACKSON TOLD HER IF SHE WANTS TO HAVE A PROCEDURE SHE SHOULD GO TO A ""FREE CLINIC"" AND THAT SHE HAD NO REFERRALS FOR HER. MY GIRLFRIEND LEFT THE OFFICE IN TEARS AND EXTREMELY UPSET.\r \r LOOKS LIKE DR JACKSON MISSED HER CALLING IN MED SCHOOL! INSTEAD OF OB/GYN SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PSYCHIATRIST!!! DOCTORS ARE THERE TO PERFORM PROCEDURES AND EXAMS AND GIVE UNBIASED, SOUND MEDICAL ADVICE AND NOT IMPART THEIR NON MEDICAL OPINIONS ON OTHERS. THIS WAS DONE IN BAD TASTE AND EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. I'M AFRICAN AMERICAN AND I HATE TO PULL THE RACE CARD BUT EVERYTIME I MAKE AN ATTEMPT TO SUPPORT AFRICAN AMERICAN PROFESSIONALS, I GET UNPROFESSIONAL, SECOND RATE SERVICE AND ATTENTION. ITS TOO BAD, GUESS WE HAVE TO GO TO A NICE JEWISH DOCTOR AT CEDARS, HAHA!!! Pros: Cedar Sinai is near our house Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE! more

I'm stunned 4/24/2008

This has been horrible. I'm 7 months pregnant and hoping to find a new Doctor. AT MY LAST VISIT:\r \r - After waiting an hour, was seen by the Nurse not the Dr. I was dehydrated from throwing up the day before. Nurse went to get the Dr. b/c she felt I needed to bee seen by her & the ENTIRE OFFICE STAFF WAS GONE! She pages Dr. Jackson who says ""She was called away on an emergency."" Where was the rest of the staff?\r - So the Nurse says, ""Well let me see if they have your urine test results."" She couldn't find the urine sample. IT HAD BEEN THROWN IN THE TRASH CAN - UNOPENED!!!!\r - She comes back and is upset & apologizing. Then goes through my chart and informs me my glucose test was almost borderline. THOSE RESULTS HAD COME IN A MONTH EARLIER! WHY was I not informed of this?\r - When Dr. Jackson calls back to tell me she was called away, she says to come back Friday for make sure I've gained weight. I call the office the next day to confirm. I ask them if they know what happend with my urine sample - why it was in the trash can. The girl is stuttering - reaching for something to say and says, ""Well we pulled it out and retested it. Your ketones are really high."" I ask what that means. She says, ""Well that's why we are retesting you on Friday."" I said I thought it was to recheck my weight (I had been throwing up.) She says ""We just want to make sure."" Make sure of what? And when I confirm the 2:00 time, she says to be on time b/c they close at 3. Sure - can I be seen on time?\r - I really don't appreciate that if I don't know what questions to ask, I'm not going to get the information that I need.\r - I don't appreciate waiting an hour, when people who arrived AFTER me were seen BEFORE me.\r - My very first visit there should have been a clue. When I called to confirm, the staff had forgotten to get my records transferred over. Should have been my first clue.\r \r DO NOT RECOMMEND. It's your body, your life, YOUR BABY. Don't chance it.\r \r Pros: Close to my house. Cons: Office Staff, Wait Time, Need to know the right questions to get answers. more

Please DO NOT take the Review Lightly-This is the TRUTH-Save Yourself 3/7/2008

If you are reading the reviews please listen and do not put yourself thru any pain-STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE!!! It will cause you nothing but regret and problems that you do not need thru your pregnancy. I only meet with Dr. Jackson twice after being a patient for 7 months-each time I meet with her she was always in a hurry-never answering my questions and leaving me feeling upset. The nurse at the office is very nice, but at some point you want to get to know your doctor. The office manager is the WORST-very Rude, never understanding her own job duties and can have a very BAD attitude at times. I had the same billing issues as the previous review states-they had me pay $500.00 deposit for NO REASON and after I talked to my insurance I was not suppose to pay. So now I am going to have to go into battle to get my $$ back.\r \r Luckily I found a new docotor (7 months into my pregancy) Dr. Lilly Lee she is great. \r After I told Dr. Jackson that I would no longer be a patient she begged me to stay and said things would be better-then a couple of days later she called me to tell me about a problem with my lab test that I had taken 4 weeks before-she clearly was not reviewing my file and my lab results.\r \r This is the first review I have ever written and the only reason why I am writing is because I think it is very important for anyone not to go thru the experience I went thru with Dr. Gail Jackson. more

Not happy with the service 2/13/2008

I was and am not happy with my care at Dr.Gail jacksons office. Her staff, one lady in particular, is really difficult to deal with. A few of the others ladies who work in the office seem nice but i am getting tired of repeating myself and getting ignored when I have concerns, and there are many! I hardly ever get informed about what is going on unless I make a point of asking at which case I feel they are not receptive to this, seeming annoyed and often forgetting things. I never get asked if I have questions or concerns and always feel rushed and often ignored. To top it all off my husband and i have had serious billing issues with them which has become REALLY frustrating being that we actually had to get out insurance representative to call the office and explain as the office staff was unable to understand what we were saying insisting we were wrong...we weren't. No apology was made after that even though they were wrong and had caused a day of back and forth on the phone for my husband. We were also told there is a $500 deposit I had to start paying which is untrue according to our insurance policy which just created more confusion...they were unable to explain if it was a deductable or what cost...they just seemed like ""well, you will have to start paying it for your delivery ASAP"" what??!! yah..um..this will need some explaination. I am a really easy going character normally but I just feel like enough is enough..this is my first baby and there is no reason to feel so clueless or frusrated with something that should be fairly simple..there is nothing complicated about my pregnancy and I have an open schedule for appointments. URK! I am looking into changing OBGYN's, does anyone have recommendations??? I would like to continue at Cedar Sinai Hospital.. Cons: frustrating office staff more

Left in Tears 12/18/2007

One simple yes regarding premarital relations with my then-boyfriend brought out the horns in this vixen. She asked, ""When's the wedding?"" to which I stupidly explained we were waiting until he graduated law school. Then, she told me he was using me and would drop me for a more educated woman. I bawled the entire session and cried my way home. Alas... Three years later we're happily married and I've told everyone to stay far away from this judgemental doctor. more
