Can't beat the Shrimp vaquero tacos! 9/22/2006

Strange name for a Mexican restaurant, but so be it. This little gem on Federal serves some of the best Mexican in Denver, as well as tasty and GIGANTIC burgers. Always packed with returning customers, Jack n Grill doesn't disappoint! The tacos, freshly made in chewy homemade tortilla shells are insane!! Burritos are huge and beyond filling. While the decor is pretty bland and the lighting in the bar is way too bright (I enjoyed it much more before the renovation), the service is awesome and the food is tasty. more

Red Chili Rocks! 2/21/2006

This place makes great food. The green and red chili are excellent. Try the bowl of corn with limes, butter and Parmesan cheese for an appetizer. Their burritos are smothered and enormous. The red chili is very good here, and the staff is always friendly! They recently acquired the space next door and so it is bigger than it used to be. They have a patio too in the front for nicer days. more

Don't Miss the Calabacitas 8/15/2005

This New Mexican place is now expanding with a new restaurant in Arvada. From humble beginnings on Federal, they have remodeled but continue their excellent food and service. Returning for only the second time, you'll feel like the staff know and truly do welcome you back, especially the children. The fall is the best, when they are roasting the chiles outside. The calabacitas burritos are very good. My only complaint is that they stopped taking credit cards, and it can get very busy at mealtimes. Go a little early or late to avoid the lines. more

Best and Biggest Burrito ever 8/11/2005

One of their burritos could feed a family of five for a day. Beyond that though the food actually tastes good, this is no chain that's pulling frozen food out and throwing it in a microwave hoping you've drank enough margarita that you won't care. This is good food prepared well. It can be crowded here so arrive early, the decor is festive, the tables are close together but it is worth it for the food. more

  • In Short
This cozy, kitschy cantina boasts a separate bar area and outdoor patio. The bustling dining room is framed with colorful Mexican art, and packed with a uproarious crowd of chowhounds. Owner-Chef Jack Martinez dishes up fresh, flavorful fare: earthy, piquant and satisfying chili, freshly shucked corn doused with butter and hot sauce, and vaqueros soft corn tacos with shredded beef, barbecue sauce and pico de gallo.
