Great Book Store 12/25/2011

I have been stopping by J Michaels for years. It is a place I need to go at least once a month even if I am not book shopping. I know that I will find something intriguing each time I go in. I always seem to walk out with 1 or more books. It's local ownership by a husband and wife team appeals to me. Their books are reasonably priced and they have every thing you might want. I hope they are here for years to come more

Vintage Books 8/21/2005

This is an excellent bookstore for people who really love books. Even if you are only looking to browse through the store, you are sure to find something special. They specialize in selling rare and out of print books to book collectors. They have both used and new books. The vintage building that houses this bookstore is very interesting in itself and adds an interesting atmosphere to the store. more

Downtown Rare Find 8/16/2005

Unfortunately, I am not going to buy books like the newest Harry Potter from J Michaels because the internet has too good deals. But this bookstore is a great place to come rare books and many others. It is right downtown, so you can visit on your lunch break. The staff are always very helpful. more

Lovely, lovely bookstore 6/2/2005

This is one of Eugene's nicest shops, on a lovely stretch of Broadway that feels like a charming oasis in the middle of Eugene's otherwise depressed downtown. J Michaels has a surprisingly wide selection for its size, and the owner is always willing to special order books. He actually seems delighted by the challenge of tracking down a rare or obscure title. I wish Eugene had more businesses like this one, where the owner so clearly loves what he does, takes pride in his store, genuinely cares about his customers, and thrives because of it. more
