Jay and Adrienne Yontef are a breath of fresh air in the Jewelry business. I ran into so many shady salespeople in my search for an engagement ring; and even at stores with great or well known names in Nashville. I was a little concerned about pricing through a custom jeweler, but I did my research and went to several other stores to compare everything from price/quality/cut/trade and everything else. Not only do the Yontefs have better quality jewelry than anyone else, they are competitive or even slightly cheaper than some big name stores. Jay has access and demands the highest quality stones for his customers. Jay sent back a few diamonds for me because they werent up to his standards. He wants the best quality every time for his customers so that they keep coming back. Believe me, he has by far the best quality stones you can buy. As business people you will not find more honest folks than Jay and Adrienne. I backed up everything they said and with personal research and against other jewelry stores both online and in town. Jay treats you fairly, and straightforward from the very start. They put absolutely zero pressure on you to buy. Its almost as if they do it for a hobby and you can tell they clearly like helping people. You could go in there 5 times and not buy something, and I have a feeling they would be OK with that. They want you to be 100% satisfied no matter what. My advice would be to have a style or something in mind before going in. Adrienne is an award winning designer but sometimes its hard to picture what you want on your finger without seeing it actually on there. She will help you with everything if you need help designing. My fiance actually changed her mind a month after wearing her ring so we exchanged it. It was an expensive switch but Jay and Adrienne were both very understanding and more than fair in the exchange. I would recommend going to the Yontef's to anyone. I wish I would have found them sooner in my search for a ring. I will be going back to them for anything and everything related to jewelry. Jay and his wife are absolutely incredible in so many ways. You are able to privately meet with them in an atmosphere that is not intimidating. I was looking to get an engagement ring for my girlfriend and the first thing he did was ask me all about her so he could get to know her better as well. After finalizing the design of the ring, Jay ""took me to school."" He taught me so many things about diamonds, even extra specifics that other places will fail to mention to you. After learning all about it, we were able to find the best diamond within my budget and the ring was created well within my time limit. I initially visited other ring places and felt very intimidated and cornered. I loved my experience because he was all about establishing a relationship. I met Jay last year when my daughter needed an appraisal done on her engagement and wedding rings which were custom made in another city. She was looking for a jeweler who would not require her to leave her rings and after reading about Jay on Citysearch, she made an appointment. Jay was most professional in providing the appraisal so when my husband started looking for the watch of his dreams, I immediately recommended Jay. Jay was able to find the exact watch, ""preowned"", in perfect, like new condition with all the original packaging. The watch looks as if it has never been worn. In addition to the watch being of such outstanding quality, Jay and his wife Adriane made our visit very enjoyable. By the time we left we felt as if we had celebrated a special occasion with old friends. Jay and Adrien do it right! My wife wanted a mother's ring for Christmas. Not wanting to go to a big jeweler (they tend to have low quality gems) I binged for a jeweler in the Nashville area. Jay's name came up. I read the reviews and decided to visit him and check out what he has. I have bought jewelery around the world: diamonds in Haifa to sapphires in Thailand to pearls in Spain. Jay easily rates with the best of them. We decided on a mount and then he found me the gems i wanted. He recommended the cheaper emeralds and they look great! The wife is happy and therefore I am happy. You can not go wrong with Jay and Adrien, they will take care of you and treat you right. more

Jay got me a quality diamond at a reasonable price that other stores around didn't bother to carry and set it in a beautiful ring. I thought it was great and more importantly my girlfriend (now fiancee) thought it was beautiful too. more

After an extensive search of custom jewelers, I went to Jay Yontef in hopes of crafting my girlfriend's (now fiancee's) engagement ring. I was weary of the process but the moment I walked in, Jay and Adriane put me at ease as they walked me through the steps. Once I explained what style of ring I was looking for and got the diamonds/stones that'd be melted in, they explained my options, how it'd be made, etc. I was also nervous about the cost but it was exactly what I was looking to pay for. After I got the ring, I was floored by how great it turned out. Truly wonderful. I'll walk away with three things from the Yontef's. First, and most important, the ring was absolutely fantastic. My girlfriend loved it the minute she saw it and months later I still catch her gazing at it. Second, they were not pushy or tried a sales pitch at all. I can't stress how important that was to me. They made me very comfortable with their approach, thus earning my trust. Finally, they were very, very easy to work with. My schedule fluctuated from time-to-time and they still were extremely prompt to return emails/texts to set up times to meet. Working with Jay Yontef was an absolute pleasure and I couldn't imagine going to another place. If you are thinking about going the custom jewelry route, I couldn't recommend a better place to go. Since I couldn't use him, I began looking for a jeweler in Nashville. Everything Jay advised about diamonds, metals, and design mirrored the advice of my family friend. He listened when I explained what I wanted. Jay's service remained the same despite my rather modest budget, and his price fell right in line with what my friend told me to expect from a trustworthy and qualified jeweler. Recently we were searching for a custom jeweler to make wedding bands for both my fiancee and myself, as well as to perform some delicate repair work on her 110-year-old engagement ring. A friend recommended J Yontef, and we couldn't be happier they did. We were thoroughly pleased with every facet (pardon the pun) of our dealings with them and give them our enthusiastic recommendation. The business consists entirely of Jay Yontef and his wife Adriane. They are extremely nice, unpretentious people whose enthusiasm for their subject is infectious -- they really love creating fine jewelry, and it shows in their attitude towards their customers. Best of all, not only are they incredibly nice people, but both of them are super-experts in the jewelry world and command an impressive knowledge of their field, and have the accomplishments to show for it. The Yontefs created for us a pair of stunning wedding bands, starting with our own basic ideas for their design and expanding upon them with what they knew was possible given the materials and style we wanted. Jay and Adriane were extremely easy to work with here, offering suggestions but never pushing anything on us that we didn't want, and always striving to make sure we got what we wanted. The finished products are exactly as beautiful as we'd hoped they would be, are totally unique because they were hand-made, and surprise -- they didn't break the bank, either. Wondrous craftsmanship, and we couldn't be happier. In the case of repairing the engagement ring, there was a lot of small filigree work involved and the repairs it needed were very delicate indeed. We were hesitant to entrust the work to just anyone, but after examining the ring and authoritatively explaining what needed to be done and how he'd do it, Jay put our fears to rest. And indeed, the repairs were carried out flawlessly and the ring looks better than ever. I can't imagine another jeweler doing a better job, and I can easily imagine other, less experienced ones not doing as well. In summary, I really can't say enough good about the Yontefs -- they do simply fantastic work of the highest quality, and they couldn't be nicer people to work with. If you're wanting superbly crafted custom jewelry or a re-engineering of pieces you already own, I honestly would look no further. more

I was in the market for a custom engagement ring, and came across J. Yontef in my search. His immediate return of my call, and comfortable conversation was just the start. Once i saw the simplicity of his actual office, i knew he didn't mess around with unnecessary things that might clutter a situation like buying a beautiful piece of jewelry. My fiance' and i dealt with Jay directly, and he set us at ease at every turn. Explained his background, and what he hoped for for us, and past clients. We had our idea, he ran with it without hesitation. A simple section of an antique spoon that had great sentimental value is now set with a beautiful stone and sits on my beautiful future wife's hand. I took an early 20th century diamond engagement ring to J. Yontef for repairs. It was a tricky project involving the reconstruction of a lattice-work bridge underneath the setting. Mr. Yontef examined the ring very carefully and provided a thorough explanation of the ring's style and construction. Our first meeting was highly informative and provided insights into a family heirloom. After our initial consultation, Mr. Yontef explained that he would be able to repair the ring instead of having to reconstruct the whole piece, thereby saving me considerable resources. A couple of short weeks later, the ring was back, better than ever. The attention to detail was extraordinary, and you would be hard-pressed to find many jewlers who would even attempt -- let alone succeed -- in the repairs. The finished ring is true to its origins and beautiful. I should add that Mr. Yontef went the extra mile in answering a follow-up question about the ring's vintage. For our 32 anniversary, my husband and I decided it was time for a change and sought out many jewelers in the area. Not being happy with any of them, we found Jay through Citysearch and set up an appointment. Lucky day for me! He found us the perfect Asscher cut diamond and was able to have a setting and wedding band made just the way I described! Jay did suggest another idea for the band (diamonds all around), but wanting to give hubby a little financial break, I insisted on diamonds half way around. Wrong choice! I should have LISTENED to Jay because one year later, we returned to Jay and asked him to rework the wedding band. A few weeks later he delivered to me a BEAUTIFUL wedding band that included diamonds all around . The band makes my Asscher cut diamond POP out! I can't take my eyes off this new set! He used the previous diamonds we had and was able to perfectly match them to the new ones. He took great time making sure the quality was second to none (even when we couldn't tell the difference, it mattered to him) and we couldn't be more grateful. Jay treated us like this was one of the biggest purchases of his life and made us feel like we were his best customers.
