Best

The sushi is very fresh, the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing, and the staff is delightful. Try the green paper roll-soooooo yummy!

Worst

This place touts the 'value' ticket -- boasting large cuts and flavorful sushi. What that actually boils down to is sub-standard quality sashimi, poorly cut (this actually matters...

never been here, but with all the good reviews I might as well try.. since i was looking for a japenese place to eat out. more

I LOVE this place! 6/2/2010

I don't know what these other reviewers are talking about. I absolutely love this place! So what if the waiter comes over to your table but meant to go to the one next to you, he's human! This isn't Per Se or Babbo! It's a neighborhood sushi place and it's adorable, and not to mention tasty as hell. We went there last night for my best friend's birthday. First off, they allow you, and even encourage you, to do sake bombs. Second, every roll we ordered, and even the edamame was very tasty and came out on platters looking like a work of art. I highly reccomend the following rolls: Tiger, Imperial, 2009, Roti, (first 4 are specials but they usually have them, even if not on specials board, just ask!), Kobe, and the Spicy Pheonix. Third, I brought a cake to have at the end of the meal. The waitstaff not only added all the candles that I brought, but they even added a sparkler - so festive and my best friend loved it. They sang along with us too, which was very sweet. All in all, if you're not a complete snob and enjoy tasty, affordable sushi, Iron Chef is a gem. more

junk? 5/3/2010

the fishes they serve are not fresh and palatable with tasteless hard rice, but they do serve their sushi with big cuts of fishes, but what does it do if the fishes are not even fresh. The decor is just horrible, lighting is bad, i personally feel that it is kind of too dark and a scary atmosphere. more

Terrible sushi 2/3/2009

This place touts the 'value' ticket -- boasting large cuts and flavorful sushi. What that actually boils down to is sub-standard quality sashimi, poorly cut (this actually matters, folks), and sushi that is so over stuffed with over-seasoned ingredients and rice that it attempts to mask the sub-quality of fish being used. Nice one. I don't know about the last reviewer but my delivery comes in 10 mins (the only bonus) on a barely edible meal. :( more

Great Sushi! 1/24/2009

We've been coming here for that last year at least once a month. Its our favorite value for your buck destination. We always order 3-4 rolls, 2 appetizers and 2 alcoholic beverages and always end up paying around $60 tax included. The portions are larger than some other sushi restaurants we've been to and the service is always top notch. It's a cute, cozy place that would be great for a first date. Pros: Delicious sushi, great service Cons: none more

Ok at the restaurant. Poor delivery. 9/29/2008

I've been there twice. The restaurant is ok. Beautiful decoration, good food, average service. After some days, I decided to try the delivery. It was too expensive, the sushi was dry and they sent dishes i've not ordered and missed other things I had ordered. Bad experience. more

Decent enough to bring a date. 8/21/2008

Personally I am quite picky about sushi rice, and personally I feel that Iron Chef haven't mastered the technique yet. However if you are not as picky about the rice, they do a decent job otherwise. I recommend seared tuna or sashimi for appetizer. Pros: decent neighborhood restaurant with interesting decor. Cons: limited space. Waitresses are in a hurry to clean up the table and give you the check. more

Good food, but inadequate service 8/3/2008

Husband and I stopped by for lunch and were received rather poorly by the wait staff. Food was good, but it doesn't make up for the service. Next time, we'll go to Hibino. more

Best sushi in NYC! 9/10/2007

This is the best sushi i've ever tasted! Hands down - no questions asked. Their rolls are HUGE & are filled with so much flavor, that it really hits you hard. Small space makes for a great date place or a family dinner. Pros: everything! Cons: none that I can think of more

Simply Fabulous! 8/24/2007

This place is amazing, good price, cozy ambiance, and fantastic food. The sushi is very creative and almost each sushi dish is prepared with house special sause. They recently opened another restaurant in Park's Slope, on 5th Avenue & 2nd St., called the Jpan Sushi, it's another "must-eat" restaurant. more
