Great idea for an afternoon trip 4/3/2009

Been living in Manhattan for years and finally checked out the Intrepid. It is so unique and historically interesting I can't believe I've never seen it before. I imagine on a great spring/summer day it will be great to go there and then meander along the westside parkway. Pros: Interesting Museum/Attraction more

Great trip, but closed right now 3/6/2007

The Intrepid museum is undergoing extensive renovations at this time (March 2007). The aircraft carrier, frigate and submarine, plus all other supporting artifacts of the museum, have been reloated for overhauling at a shipyard several miles away. There is no museum services being offered. more

A rare opportunity for aeronautics enthusiasts 2/25/2007

Specially to foreign visitors, the Intrepid offers an opportunity to see some of the remarkable pieces of technology employed by the US armed forces, including speed masters such as the A-12 Blackbird and Concorde. For those who love aeronautics, it is just the place to get to know and take nice pictures some of the world's most famous combat aircrafts. Pros: Great selection of attractions, staged on a real aircraft carrier Cons: Lines can be pretty long more

Bring a Camera 9/2/2003

A bit pricey, but overall a good time was spent walking around the Intrepid, the Edson (Destroyer) and the Growler (Guided Missle Sub). Lots of exhibits can be seen below deck. Like most places in NYC, the souvineer's were too expensive to consider buying, but pictures are free, so take as much as you like. more

an A for a sea museum 2/10/2003

The Intrepid is one of the coolest museums I've ever visited. Any place that makes me feel like a kid again gets a 10! You're actually walking through a battleship. It's easy to navigate, thought provoking, great for kids, and not too crowded. The views are amazing, too. The McDonalds is a major eyesore. Pros: exhibits, views Cons: mcdonalds more

Alot of fun 8/21/2002

BEST ! 7/29/2002

It's the best experience you could ever have in the museum!!! Pros: Fantastic experience Cons: non more

Vets get cheated... 7/22/2002

The museum is a must see for all Americans, but I was shocked to find that veterans and reservists (of which I am neither) have to pay to get in. Not only that, but they must pay $9 while teachers only pay $5!! The least the curators could do is let veterans in for free. Their presence alone would add immeasurably to the experience. Pros: Proud, to be, an American Cons: No parking, Busy highway (12th Av more

Uninspired and Overpriced 7/20/2002
