Excellent salon 12/19/2009

I have been going to Innu for over a year and with every appt I am more impressed. The staff is helpful and friendly. The owners work along side the stylists. There is definately a family feel to the place, while maintaining a high end, high style quality. I find the prices affordable and have always loved my cuts. The salon will call you a few days after your cut to be sure you are satiafied. If you are not satisfied, they will work with you to make sure you are. I have recommended this salon to friends and they are also very satisfied! Pros: Affordable, friendly, reliable, talented stylists Cons: Book early cause their schedules fill up more

Outstanding Hair Salon 11/8/2009

I have tried 4 other salons since moving to Austin 2 1/2 years ago. Nothing in my experience here or in Houston compares to Innu. The salon is open early (8:00 am) and on Mondays! The decor is lovely and the place is simply immaculate. I have never seen such attention to detail. They even have foot stools for when you are sitting under the dryer, if you are short and your feet dangle. There are discreetly placed pamphlets, in the rest room, on issues such as eating disorders and domestic violence. None of the usual obnoxious ""prima dona"" personalities in the stylists. I use Alexis for cut and color highlights, every 8 weeks. She is phenomenal and corrected the orange brassiness that every other stylist I had used here ultimately caused, despite my complaints. Reasonably priced. Definitely a cut above the rest. Pros: Hours, immaculate salon, great cut & color Cons: No cons. Every detail attended to. more

Really amazing and affordable!!! 5/14/2009

I'm really particular about my hair. I usually keep it long but I went in to have a lot of it cut off for the first time in awhile and the stylist (sheila) was amazing. My hair looks wonderful and she was comforting and easy to work with. She really listened to what I wanted and the cut came out great. The salon is really pretty, and the people are great (they called me a cab! and hurried with check out so i wouldnt have to pay to have for the wait). $40 (w/ tax and tip) for a shampoo, cut, style, massage, and an overall wonderfully relaxing experience -- this place is a steal. I'd definitely give them a try. Pros: friendly staff, great stylist, free drink massage & samples Cons: hard to get to by bus and cabs are expensive :( more

Talented Sylists, Great Zen Atmosphere, Socially Responsible 1/9/2009

I have been going to Innu for years and I still look forward to every visit. It makes me feel good to be greeted immediately and offered a beverage when I arrive. After I get a consultation with my stylist, I'm treated to a wonderfully aromatic shampoo with a relaxing scalp massage that just makes my day. Love the design of the salon (and the private patio). It offers the perfect balance of energy and peacefulness. Great artwork too. Pros: skilled, fashion forward stylists Cons: might have to wait for an appointment if you're set on a particular stylist more

Finally found a stylist who is worth the $50 I pay for a cut! 5/16/2008

I've been going to Innu for about 4 years. I'm surprised one of the reviewers said that the stylists are not all skilled. That's false. Innu has stylists skilled at various levels and Innu focuses on continual training and education for their stylists. Thus you may find that the stylist you love at $40 a cut may end up charging $50 b/c he or she is improving. This is not a bad thing. When my first stylist moved into a higher price range she recommended another one at my price point that would understand me and my hair. Both stylists I've had were very good at knowing what my hair can and cannot do. Listen to them and communicate with them. I have had to go in for one recut in 4 years. It wasn't major but I needed a recut b/c I cannot style my hair as well as my stylist and one section was giving me trouble. I received a quick 5 minute fix and some more tips on how to style my hair. Again, communicate with your stylist and listen to him or her. If you are not pleased, let it be known. Innu will make it right and you should always be happy. Give it a try for sure! Pros: Well trained stylists. Commitment to customer service. Always on time! Cons: Have to make appointments in advance for some of the popular stylists - worth it though! more

Consistently consistent! 8/23/2007

I have really great experiences at Innu Salon. My stylist is always on time and consistently does a good job. When she's not available, she recommends other stylists which do a good job as well. It seems everybody is trained well and they stay in sync with what's going on in the world of hair. On top of that, they are super sweet and let's say, humble. It's laid-back and not ""stuffy"". Also, I just love the design inside and out. If your looking for a new place I would say give Innu a try : ) Pros: did I mention consistent? Cons: my stylist is too booked!! more

Rockin' Hair Salon with lots of Heart! 6/6/2007

I was blown away by my experience at INNU today. I have been to several salons in Austin, and I have never experienced such customer service. I must have been offered a drink by five different people! The aromatherapy scalp massage was awesome. I would have been happy with just that! Then, Tamara worked her magic on my hair. She was VERY knowledgeable and did a great job. During the haircut, we talked about her doing my hair for my wedding. I am so excited that she will be a part of my special day! Everyone was fabulous....highly recommended! Pros: People who really care about your hair happiness! more

Bad first haircut but the owner made good 1/15/2007

I went in as a first timer and did not like the haircut I was given. I called the following day and made a second appointment to get it fixed. The owner cut it again and did not charge me. He was amazing and gave me lots of personal attention (including scheduling me for 7am so I could get in before work). I do not intend to go back but I appreciate their committment to making customers happy. Pros: OK Value Cons: Not all stylists are skilled more

Good with scissors and listening 12/23/2006

I was blown away by service with Solana. First she wanted to give me a trim and it was in fact a trim that does what it is supposed to do -- make hair look healthier and update style, not drastically cut my hair so much that I feel I am seeing another person when I look in the mirror. This is a sensitive point that has caused me to go from stylist to stylist over the years until they take the words ""just a trim"" seriously. I have long hair and I like it. I always wanted to keep it long but stylists have been chopping it saying they'll only take off ""an inch."" I'd like to see their ruler. Not only did I get the cut I asked for and was listened to, I was given advice about how to cover the gray at home without having to come in every 5 weeks. This was unheard of. I have never been given specific DIY instructions. Solana even wrote down what to ask for at a beauty supply shop. The salon called a week later to see if I was still happy. I was. I am. I made an appointment to get color freshened up before I go back to coloring it myself. I have been looking for a convenient, unpretentious ""home"" for my hair in Austin for more than a decade. I have let my hair just grow and grow instead of submitting to the chain-saw scissor hair-cutters who seem to think they know what I want better than I do. One more thing. The stylist ""got"" the style I wanted and conversed with me whether bangs would look good on my face before cutting them. Rarely do I get this much back and forth. And the stylish did not suggest a new look as has happened at pricey, artsy salons, where you leave looking like art has been created on your head, not a style you could maintain daily much less live in. Pros: Got appointment within a day. Great cut. Stylist listened. Gave DIY specs on at home coloring, convenient, parking, not rushed or loud place. Great scalp massage. Cons: None, not even pressure to buy products. more

Best salon in Austin! 11/30/2006

I had been looking for a hair place for almost a year after relocating to Austin from Denton. A co-worker referred me to Innu, and more specifically to Eden, and I have been thrilled with the results! I have gotten so many compliments on my hair, and I LOVE going to the salon. It's so unpretentious, but yet very classy at the same time. I have referred my friends and family there, and they are all happy with the magic that happens at this place. It rocks! Pros: bumble and bumble Cons: n/a more

Recommended 1/13/2006

If you are looking for a new hair salon in Austin that's easy to get to, not too crowded or ""stuffy"", but full of expertise and amenities...this is the place. The aromatherapy scalp massage ROCKED!! The staff were friendly and professional. The people who work there are a mixture that you almost immediately can relate to someone there. It is not intimidatingly ""Chic"" and yet you feel like you are in the MOST Chic Salon. Pros: aromatherapy, not too pricey Cons: not a "cozy" environ more

Love it! 1/13/2006

I have been going to this salon for over a year and my hair has never looked better. Solana is attentive to what I want, the products are great and they have wonderful customer service. Pros: Bumble and Bumble more

disappointed 1/8/2006

I went to this salon because it was recommended. I unfortunately made a bad choice. I brought in a photo of how I wanted my hair to look. She didn't even get close. She put in permanent color when I asked for temporary (and most of that ended up on my forehead). The blonde highlights look gray. And my hair is hopelessly uneven. I looks like I cut it myself. This is the worst haircut I've ever had. I hope Supercuts can fix it because that's all I can afford after paying $120 for this disaster. more

They are consistently great. 11/28/2005

I've honestly probably had my hair cut at most of the salons in town at one time or another. With some places I've been to, you may get a great haircut one time and a bad one the next. The stylists here are really good, not just sometimes but all the time. My stylist, Ron, is so meticulous that you'd think he dreams about cutting hair at night. He's got the kind of attention to detail you'd want from your accountant or brain surgeon. This is a good thing. For any of you out there who've had a hard time nailing down a good haircut, give Ron a try. Pros: relaxed, unpretentious Cons: closed sun. and mon. more

I love this place 11/25/2005

I received the best haircut ever here. The service was excellent. You get a sweet little head and neck rub before a haircut. They even called me a week after my service to make sure I loved my hair! I highly recomend this salon Pros: Great parking, Very clean, Free beverage more

You'd be crazy to pass up INNU 6/7/2005

This was by far one of my most all-time favorite salon experiences. My hairstylist, Eden, is AMAZING; she listened to what I wanted, added what she thought I needed and the result was beyond my expectations. The head and neck massage before the shampoo was to say the least, the icing on the cake. I also received a trial size of a product I was interested in and no pressure to buy. I believe I've found a place to stay! INNU is ultra-fabulous and you'd be nuts to pass it up. Pros: rocking hairstylist, good parking, great price more

Pass on Innu 5/20/2005

I tried INNU recently. Wasn't impress with the cut that I got - layered cut was not well blended. Sevice was not as personalized as stated. It all seemed a bit rush. Guess I will be returning to my old salon to have my hair re-cut. Pros: parking Cons: service more

Innu Rocks! 10/11/2004

Innu is a great place to work! It's a small, tight, supportive group of ""hair nerds."" Everyone participates in weekly education, everyone gets along, we share clients and formulas (we're a salaried salon), and everyone loves what they do! This is important because it creates a happy, relaxed, and informative environment for our clients. If the staff likes coming to Innu then clients should love it! Pros: Bumble and bumble, knowledgeable, parking more
