Pretty Negative experience 1/25/2009

Took a beginner lesson. The instructor didn't want to be there and it showed. He as not interested in me learning any basics or haveing a good time. Lesson did 't prepare me to even attempt to go down a begining run. The lesson was a waste of my time and money. Will try again at another resort. Pros: acessible Cons: negative experience more

Ski the Bird 1/7/2007

You'll like Snowbird if you like what I call ""finger tip skiing"". Snowbird employed a novel concept when designing their resort. Basically the planners said, ""lets make sure all our lifts go to the top of the mountain or appropriate ridge"". For some reason unknown to me most other resorts stop their lifts mid-mountain. Hence at other resorts you have to traverse and hike to get to the best skiing (Alta has a massive telemark culture built around this). Of course you can do this at Snowbird but 99% of the time just get off the lift, point your skis downhill and you will be skiing some of the most challenging spectacular terrain you can imagine. Even when you have to traverse to get to some secret honey hole (there are more of these than any other resort) you are usually encountering great skiing along the way because the lift already took you to the top of the mountain. The other thing is all of Snowbird's run s follow the fall line. Again, go to other resorts (the Canyons and to a lesser extent Park City is the worst in this respect) and half the time they have carved their run s diagonally through a stand of trees. The run s actually function perpendicular to the direction gravity is pulling you. Its very annoying. Snowbird is at such an high altitude that you can happily ski acres and acres of open bowls. Also because the resort is mostly on private land they can mow down as many trees as they want. Most resorts in Utah are built in the national forest and have to cater to all the tree huggers if they want to cut down a tree or make a new run. Pros: extreme terrain, snow, very few beginner snowboarders Cons: terrain park more

Snowbird is the greatest ski resort in the world 10/16/2005

I've had the chance to ski Aspen, Vail, Breck, Big Bear, Lake Placid, Chili, Canada, Italy, and Switzerland and nothing can match what Snowbird has to offer. From extreme drop into bowls to intermediate and beginner, you can find it at Snowbird. The verticle is amazing. If you've ever dreamed of steep and deep then Snowbird is a screaming nightmare. The best skiier in the world you would find a big challenge at the Bird. The snow is light and crisp and the terrain is what ever you whant it to be. You can ski powder, bumps, crud, or just cruise to a great day. The surroundings and view from the lifts and on top of the tram are like a painting. The lodging is some of the best and the food is great. I definitely recommend Snowbird in my highest regard. Pure Bliss and a kick a_ _ time. Pros: The Best Snow, Extreme Verticle, Great place to lodge Cons: lines on a Saturday, need more Snowbirds more

Deep Dry Powder Only Minutes Away! 10/14/2004

Few places on earth offer 500+ inches of light dry powder 20 minutes away from big city services where it only snows occasionally. Tourists and residents do not have to contend with harsh winter conditions all winter like most other ski resort communities. It's the best of both worlds! Pros: Best Snow on Earth, Challanging Slopes, Fast Warm Tram Cons: , Stupid Liquor Laws, Crowded Parking more

weather/season 6/2/2004

Snowbird usually has the beat snow on Earth, like all resorts depends on the time of year & weather for any particular year. Prices best preseason ticket plan in Utah. Best/most days to ski, midweek when it's snowing, cloudy, foggy, or windy. Days like these occur frequently late winter/spring, no crowds, no waiting. Sheer bliss floating thru powder from top to bottom & tranverse. Pros: deep powder, packed slopes, views Cons: , slope blocks, food/wine service more

GREATEST SNOW ON EARTH 1/3/2003

UTAH'S LISCENSE PLATE SAYS IT ALL. THEY HAVE THE BEST SNOW IN THE WORLD. BEING THAT ALTA ISN'T MENTIONED IN THIS SURVEY I FEEL THAT IT IS NESSECARY TO MENTION THAT THEY ARE JOINED NOW AND I ONCE SKIED THEIR IN POWDER OVER MY HEAD!! THIS IS THE MECA FOR DEEP POWDER SKIING. Pros: POWDER, POWDER, POWDER Cons: LINES, AVALANCHES, GO BIG OR GO HOME more

Dream On 12/23/2002

Alta sucks! Snowbird Rules. There is no comparison between Snowbird and any other resort in Utah. They have the same amount and type of snow as Alta (sucks) however their runs were not created by a bunch of crazed miners with chain saws. Snowbird will test your limits as a skier on any skill level throughout your entire life. If you feel that you have done it all at Snowbird, try sking off the packed runs. Pros: Extreme Skiing, Test your limits, High Fear Factor Cons: Next to Alta more

Thrash! 11/12/2002

I really like snowbird!! its such a great place to be!! the weather is great the snow is awesome and its tonz of fun!! a great place for snowboarders and skiers alike to thrash the slopes! Pros: great location, easy access, great value Cons: cat tracks, hard to get around, not for young skiiers more

Ski Wooly 11/12/2002

This is the best powder on earth,That I have ever skied. Pros: lots of runs, lots of snow, two great MTNS. Cons: Expensive more

no whining skiers 11/5/2002

Snowbird is a top notch all around mountain. And, with Alta next door, there seems to be a better relationship between the skiers and snowboarders at the 'Bird than at some other mountains. Those skiers who are still clinging to the notion that all snowboarders are just punk troublemakers just keep going up the canyon. Those who are a little more up to date stop at Snowbird for some of the best snow/terrain combinations in the world. At the same time, it quickly becomes apparent to most that it doesn't really matter which tool you use to ride down, as long as you're courteous to others and enjoy yourself. Pros: snow, terrain, snow Cons: price, terrain park more

Great year-round destination 6/13/2002

Everybody knows the skiing here is fabulous, but few people take advantage of the off-season setting. Rooms a Cliff Lodge are quite reasonable during the summer months and the views and hiking are worth the trip. The only real problem is that the dining options are not as great as they are in the wintertime. Pros: Amazing view, Good hiking, World-class skiing Cons: Limited offseason more
