We have been bringing our car and truck to Independent Motors for 6 years now and each time we ve been is a great experience. They are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive to our questions and always get the job done in a timely manner. In contrast to other auto shops, we trust that they are only doing the work that is absolutely necessary, not suggesting unneeded repairs . The last time our car broke down and had to be towed to the shop, they immediately arranged for a loaner car, so we would not be without a vehicle. I highly recommend this shop; we will not bring our vehicles anywhere else.\r more

I'm a 21 year old girl who knows next to nothing about cars, so my opinion may not be as valid as people who do. However, my parents really value Independent Motors, and every time I have been there, the guys are very knowledgeable, friendly and patient with me, which I appreciate. \r I don't know how the prices compare to other shops, so I'm unhelpful in that regard. All I know is that I've thus far been happy with their help.\r more

Kevin is awesome! I had my car in for a tune up. He did all that, fixed my stereo, fixed my heat, fixed my tires, and made my car run like a sports car again (all for the cost of the original estimate). I would recommend these guys to everyone! Thanks guys! more

I went in just to ask a question about my windshield wipers and they completely took care of everything. They were patient, kind and obviously knowledgable about what they were doing and went above and beyond what I needed, with little cost to me! I have been taking my cars to Independent Motors for a few years, and I wouldn?t go anywhere else. They took great care of my 1998 Subaru and now work on my 2008 VW. Having dealt with several untrustworthy and dishonest repair shops in Boulder before finding Independent, I was really relieved to find a place where the service is reliable and reasonable. Everyone there is so helpful, kind, and willing to go the extra mile to explain all of my options and work within my budget. Recently, I called them right before closing on a Friday to discuss an issue with a flat tire. They didn?t hesitate in telling me to come on in; I didn?t even have to wait until Monday. They kept the tire, and checked the spare and all of my other tires at no cost. I would highly recommend Independent Motors to anyone! more

Rip-off artists, Took my Nissan Sentra there today to have the AC recharged. I paid $194.54 to have them tell me that I have a hole in the condenser and that it will cost me an additional $772 to have it replaced for a grand total of $966.! I picked it up and paid nearly $200 for nothing but a diagnosis that I'm not even sure I trust. A friend at work suggested I call Keep Kool in Denver, where I was quoted a price of $400 - $450 total. Sure wish I'd asked in the first place! If money is no object, as I'm sure is the case with many Boulderites, these guys may do okay work but if money is tight, as it is with me, stay far away from this place. more

A number of years ago, after my Infiniti hit 120,000 miles, I decided to try Independent rather than a dealer. I've been very pleased with them. Their services are reasonable and what has especially impressed me are the answers they give me as to whether I really need to have something repaired. I usually go ahead and have it done rather than putting it off, but that is in part because they don't try to tell me something needs to be done right away. Therefore I don't feel like I am being talked into unnecessary, high-priced services. They also have free wifi, free coffee, and free loaner cars, so I can either work there or run errands. more

I think their friends wrote the other positive reviews. My experience is quite different. My usual mechanic couldn't fit me in for an emergency repair and recommended Independent. On his recommendation I had my car towed there. I was given an estimate of nearly $800 to fix the fuel pump. I called my usual mechanic to ask if that sounded right. He thought it was absurd and squeezed me in. (Yes, I had to pay yet another tow bill to get it to him.) He fixed my fuel pump for $204.00. That's 1/4 of what Independent quoted me. Not only that they left the car in worse shape than when I gave it to them. The battery was dead and the starter was unhooked. When I requested they refund the $49 they charged me they refused and even got nasty with me. Such a shame. My usual mechanic is getting tired and I would love to have another reliable place to take my car. Independent Motors is definitely NOT it. Stay away. Stay away. more
