It's definitely a hole in the wall as its located in a rundown plaza. The atmosphere is very romantic, you wouldn't take big parties to eat here. They have a great winelist and the food is delicious although the dinner portions are rather small. My favorite appetizer would be the portobello mushroom with gorgonzola cream sauce (YUMMMMM). The lobster ravioli is also a favorite, but is offered as a special, just ask for it and Im sure they could accomodate. Ive recommended many friends to eat here and theyve enjoyed their experience. Truly the best Italian food that I've had outside Italy. The waiters are prompt and extremely courteous. The Pollo Rotini is a must with handmade pasta rolled with chicken and spinach and laying in a bed of fresh tomato sauce that's tangy from wine. Their fried calamari is for garlic lovers, so if you're not so into garlic avoid the fresh garlic topping, especially during lunch. The only item I've tried and wasn't a fan of is their Pizza Margarita, seeing that I was disappointed with it , the waiter quckly replaced it with another entree at the lower cost of the Pizza. more

I am compelled to inform you that if you are looking for a romantic and elegant place to take your lover, spouse, significant other where the ambience is great, the Italian cuisine is authentic and the food is delicious, Il Porcino in Fremont is the place to go. Trust me when I tell you, seating 10 people (or sundry such mob) is not the best notion as the atmosphere is intimate and the food is delicious. The Trianglini with the stuffed mushrooms are exquisite. Follow this with a sip of Iron Horse Chardonnay and the flavors will detonate in your mouth. The wine selection is perfect and all the dishes are divine. I have gone to this restaurant with my wife for many years. We always enjoy our experience there and the service is excellent. We made a reservation for 10, but when we arrived our table wasn't even being prepared. After we were seated, it took a while for the server to take our appetizer order. The appetizers came promptly, but after we had finished them, the server still hadn't returned to take our dinner order. Once he finally took our dinner order (30+ minutes after we were seated), it took 1 hour to receive our food. When we inquired about when our food was going to arrive, the server said the delay was because we ordered appetizers and the kitchen could not handle both appetizers and entrées.
