Best

One of the best Itallian restaurants in town. Try the cheese and meat ravioli and the shrimp scampi. Everything is homemade so you need to wait a little bit after you order.

Worst

I had such high hopes -- a pleasant garden area, authentic Italian owner ... but it was far too good to be true.

Splendid Dining Experience at Il Moro 9/18/2005

My family and I dined at Il Moro last week and we were extremely pleased with the service and attention given to our family. The waiters are friendly and responsive with your order. The Banquet Manager, Lucy Foiani, made certain that we experienced an enjoyable and satifying evening. Let me tell you; the food is great! Our party was presented with patio seating which only positive comments were whispered by my family members as we were being seated. If you love Italian food, give Il Moro a try. You won't be disappointed. more

Italian Paradise 9/18/2005

I have been a regular to a lot of Italian Restaurants, but Il Moro surprised me with Rustic and innovating dishes. The ambiance is romantic and inviting. It is evident that a lot of thought and care has been taken into expecting 100% customer satisfaction to their guests. The menu will not disappoint you. Il Moro's chef will keep you coming back for more. I can't wait for the new and improved renovations to be completed. It will include a full service bar. I look forward to my next visit. Pros: Romantic, Inexpensive more

Dining Al Fresco 8/26/2005

I had friends in from out of town who requested to dine al fresco, and not knowing too many places in the LA area (that weren't along the pier/beach and I found this through LA Weekly in Jonathan Gold's column. The food was a bit on the pricey side for the quantity, and everyone's dishes seemed a bit on the salty side. The soups and appetizer salads were very good (the spinach and goat cheese was tasty). I'd go back to sit on the patio for drinks and dessert. more

Reasonable Price, Great Food and Wine 3/1/2005

This is a well known lunch spot for the business people in the area, but unknown to the residents in the area. It is tucked away on the bottom floor of a office building. Once discovered you will continue eating here. It has reasonable prices, but more importantly the food is excellent. There pastas are served al dente and perfect with the various sauces they have. Their servers have full knowledge of the menu and especially the wine. They have a wonderful outside/patio dining table with lights and heat lamps. There is also a perfect family style dining area for private parties. They also serve a vast array of desserts and cakes. This is one of my favorire places to eat italian food. more

Dining at Il Moro 12/14/2004

Dining at Il Moro since the day the restaurant opened has been nothing but a pleasant experience. My wife and I, and on occassion with friends, have always had an enjoyable dinner. The service has been exceptional. With respect to the food, every single plate on the menu seems to be made with only satisfying our personal satisfaction. I would recommend Il Moro for both the ambience and, especially, the cuisine. Pros: inexpensive, great food, cozy more

Rude Waiter 11/24/2004

It's a gorgeous Italian restaurant and I recommend it highly for dates--make sure you nab a patio seat. I went with some friends and the waiter we had basically got annoyed with us taking pictures. He was very rude and basically threw the food at us, and never helped us after that. We gave him a $20 tip for 3 people. My food was okay, but not for $40. My two other friends took one bite and politely stopped eating. When we left, we tried to say good bye to the waiter, but he TURNED HIS BACK TO US (he's like 40...immature?). Perhaps they should hire waiters who enjoy working in the business. I don't think all the waiters are like that, but if you get our waiter, you might as well end your evening right there. If you don't order wine, the waiter will get mad. Pros: not crowded, ambience Cons: , food, service more

Excellent all around! 9/23/2004

Like another reviewer I was also taken here by my girlfriend for our monthly anniversary. The patio is beautifully decorated w/a small waterfall, pond and garden. The food is great and tastes like what I imagine authentic italian cuisine would taste like. It was certainly better than many pricier italian restaurants I've eaten at in LA that claim authentic cuisine (ie. Il Cielo, Celestino). Both my girlfriend and I had pasta which included their handmade pasta. It was some of the best I've ever had. Generally the clientele seems older, with people in their 40's+ as the norm. As a side note, If you want to avoid the $3.50 valet fee then self-parking can be found along the residential streets on Purdue, north of Olympic blvd. Overall this is a great restaurant with superb authentic cuisine, a great atmosphere and very reasonable prices. Pros: Authentic Pasta's, Romantic Atmosphere, Good Value more

Great food and service 9/3/2003

My girlfriend picked this restaurant for our monthly anniversary dinner. Easy parking... plenty of parking space on the street. Great atmosphere... the decor and soft lighting add a sense of romance. Fantasic service... waitress who served us was very attentive to our every needs. Great food... my girlfriend had a pasta dish, and I had a lamb dish, both were delicious. We'll definitely go back again. Pros: Easy parking, Great food, Great atmosphere more

Great food, great atmosphere 1/4/2003

My girlfriend and I go here every few months or so. We always sit outside in their little ""garden"". Ask for the artichoke salad (it's not on the menu), it's awesome. Another great starter is the asparagus with cheese and mushroom sauce. It's not on the menu either anymore, but they are usually happy to make it. The seafood is in my experience only so so, at least compared to the excellent pasta (so go for that). They have good vegetarian dishes, so this is a great Italian place to go if you are not big on meat. Pros: Great pasta, Easy street parking Cons: So so seafood more
