I just love this place!!! So charming and beautiful decor and the staff was amazing and sweet. The garden area is a great escape, to sit under the trees and lights was just sublim...

Worst

The pasta portions are ridiculously small for $16-18, even for a little girl! While food is good quality, prices are just too high for middle-of-the-line service and average deco...

Solid Italian; good for first dates 8/16/2005

I Coppi is one of those nice Italian restaurants with solid food and good service. It's located in the East Village (near NYU) and is a great date place. It's a great place for a first date because the ambience is casual but nice, not loud and has a garden in the back room. It exudes romance without being cheesy. The owners are nice but they don't fawn over you like the Little Italy places tend to do. You're left alone to enjoy your dishes and each other's company. My only complaint is that the tables are too close together and once, my date and I felt like we were on a date with the couple next to us because they were so close and eavesdropping on our conversation. Otherwise, this is a good place - not too expensive and a decent wine list. more

Owner Message
  • I Coppi is a rustic and authentic Tuscan restaurant located in the East Village, owned and operated by Lorella Innocenti and her husband John Brennan, which opened in September 1998. Lorella brought her mother Alberta Innocenti, a home cook from Pistoia in Tuscany, to create a seasonal menu featuring specialties from generations of Italian family recipies. Maristella Innocenti arrived from Florence in 1999 to join her sister in running the restaurant and soon after moved into the kitchen as head chef to faithfully reproduce her family recipes. She prepares food like its prepared in the home, not like what you find in most Italian restaurants. One of the most charming elements of the restaurants is its beautifuly arranged back garden. Tucked away in the east village, I Coppi gives you the romantic seeting you will need for an evening to remember. Come join us!
