Avoid this cmplex at all cost....OLD, unsafe, costly utlitiy 9/1/2011

if you are considering Hunters Chase, DON'T. Becky the Manager could care less about you or your safety. There is NO insulation in these apts and they are very old and not kept up. My electric bill on the first floor was over $250 for 4 months this summer. FOR AN APT! You are required to put a deposit down but Becky the manager, took every penny for things she so say recorded, and we really did clean this apt spotless when we moved. They put in some cheap wood vinyl flooring that kept peeling and tore because of the furniture, and we paid for it. The first day we were there the light fell out of the ceiling onto an expensive candle ope-rum that my grandmother left me, and it was shattered. I reported it and the office manager (Becky) said Oh well its an old apt complex. Our apt was vandalized twice with a cigarette lighter and burn marks on the door and wall. And someone tried kicking the door in twice. When the cops were called the cop said this was becoming a very unsafe area. If you go to the balconies outside you will see the rotten wood from the upstairs apts balcony. And the balcony is not solid so it rains and you can see or open the door , because of the cracks in the wood! This is a turd in tin foil and avoid this complex at any cost, for you and your family, or pets safety! more

BAD MANAGEMENT! 7/14/2010

July 13th, 2010 I am making a complaint about the management. I had initially filed a work order about a AC filter replacement in our unit on Thursday, June 17th. On Saturday, June 19th, I filed another work order about a drip coming from the AC vent in the bathroom. It wasn't till Monday, June 21st, after we called and complained that the management finally informed the maintenance about the issue. I also filled out follow up work orders on June 24th, because the leaking AC unit had not subsided. In the same week, I called emergency maintenance after work one evening because the ceiling material was so soggy that it looked as if the ceiling would have fallen through. I have collected gallons of water from the dripping AC vent. I am very worried that mold has started forming in the walls from all the moisture being held in the pan above the bathtub. The pan above the bathtub is also leaking in to the bathtub, causing rust stains! Not only is there physical damage to the apartment, it's a hazard to our health and it is causing us financial stress! Our utility bill from the City of Austin, was $193.00 for the month of June 2010. The maintenance was helpful and responsive but they did not repair the issue in full. Not only is the issue still not resolved, but it was handled in a extremely poor manor. Because of the management's negligence of this matter, the slight drip has turned into water damage. The ceiling around the vent needs to be repaired. We will not be held liable for any of these damages to the unit. We informed the management in a timely manner, before the AC filter caused the water dripping and water damages. Now when we called on Monday, June 21st, and asked why the issue had been ignored, they informed us we owe the other half to our security deposit, (which we planned to pay with next rents payment). Regardless of the outstanding balance, this whole situation was handled very unprofessionally. Almost the very definition of blackmail. The act of extorting money by exciting fears of injury to reputation (our credit), or property damage. When speaking with Becky, the property manager of Hunter?s Chase Apartments, she was extremely rude and unprofessional! She would not let us speak, she would raise her voice above ours so she could not hear what we have to say. This is very immature behavior, and I was in disbelief that a woman would conduct herself in such a way. Pros: Great quite location Cons: HORRIBLE RUDE MANAGEMENT more

Management is AWEFUL 1/26/2007

Rent is good, location is great, apartment decent. Management is horrible, unwilling to help, feels like they're just looking for ways to screw you out of your money. We're perfect tenants, have been living here for 8 months, always pay our rent early, no parties, etc. At the end of October my husband went into the hospital and I was so caught up with that, I forgot to pay the rent for a few days (literally, from Thursday to Monday). They charged me $70, even after I explained the situation multiple times and brought in proof from the hospital. Now, at the end of our lease, they want to charge us an additional $100 a month to renew for a few months. We've had things stolen off our patio, the treadmill is constantly broken and it seems like we're perpetually calling the maintenance guy for the same things. I can't wait to move. Pros: Location Cons: Everything else--management, old property, theft and vandalism more
