Great Food. Great Service. Enough said!!

Where Hula Hut is concerned, I give the same advice I give regarding the Oasis: sure, it's a fun place to hang out with friends and have a few (overpriced) drinks. But don't eat t...

Good Food, Good View, Always crowded 4/26/2006

Hula Hut has great food, love the fish tacos, and it's a nice atmosphere out on the doc. With a full bar, weekend evenings it's a mob scene of young, white, wealthy college age people. The crowd is not my scene at all, I stick to a late Saturday lunch when I go. more

good, fun restaurant 4/5/2006

Hula Hut is a great place to hold an office party or other special event. Their view is wonderful and since it's right on the lake if you sit outside you're at the water's edge. Their enchiladas are phenomenal as are the margaritas. This is a great restaurant to take friends from out of town as well. more

Hula Hut 3/22/2006

Hula Hut is one of the most fun restaurants in Austin. It's perfect for a party, an office birthday lunch or if you're trying to impress any out-of-towner with Austin coolness. It's sitting right by the lake and if you choose to eat outside, you're sitting right on top of water. The food is excellent too. It's a perfect blend of Mexican and seafood. Most of their dishes are one-of-a-kind. Parking is a bit tricky but if you get there early enough, you can find parking right in front. I highly recommend this place to take your friends that are coming to Austin for a good time. more

I love this place! 10/6/2005

I really love eating here. The setting is very lovely and oh so romantic. The food is also great. I haven't found anything I disliked. I would highly recommend their margaritas too. I would also recommend the enchiladas. This place is great for friends and families and there is a patio where you can eat at to enjoy the lovely view of lake austin. more

Aloha Hula Hut 8/29/2005

Hula Hut has become an Austin institution! It's a great place to get together with friends and a fun place to take out of towners. It is centrally located and easily accessible. The food is not bad, though a little pricey. The salsa is one of the best, a bit of hawaiian thrown in. Tubular tacos are also very popular and rather large. Unfortunately, it's great success has led to long wait times for both tables and food and a parking nightmare. Be prepared to walk or pay for valet parking! more

nice view, pretty good food 8/26/2005

The Hula Hut is the kind of place you will want to visit about twice a year. The lake view is really good. They make great drinks - I recommend the trying one of their gigantic fish bowls. On the downside the Tex-mex food is just average, the parking is a big hassle, and it gets pretty crowded on the weekends. A fun place to go with co-workers but not a place you'll want to visit often. more

On The Lake 8/24/2005

I've gone here may times in really big parties because they can accomodate them pretty well. It's nice because the restaurant is on Lake Austin, and you can sit outside on the deck. If you have at least 3 people, I'd recommend trying the Pu Pu Platter. I know that sounds really weird, but I'm pretty sure that's what it's called. Parking is a little hectic, but I like going there. more

Great Atmosphere ... mediocre food 8/15/2005

Come here for the great atmosphere and people (very young crowd). Very great for going at happy hour, you can mix and mingle with the hip and young business people or the plethora of college students. The scenary is great since it is right off the lake. Relax and enjoy a drink, but the food is not as good. Slightly overpriced and not well done. Overall a great place for socializing, but I would not recommend it just for the food. more

Great views and great food 8/5/2005

The Hula Hut is located on Lake Austin and always has a huge crowd and wait. The wait is worth it once you taste the food. The atmosphere is vey realxing, and the people are all very friendly. After a day running around Austin, or playing around on the lake, the Hula Hut serves up a great Tubular Taco. The steak is very moist and juicy, and the chili sauce tasted like something I have never hd before-all around delicious! more

My second favorite tortilla soup 7/12/2005

This restaurant is more upscale than your normal tex-mex restaurant (but no more upscale than most guppy Austin locations). The food is unique and has a different take on some of the old classics. The tortilla soup for instance has more of a clear chicken broth and roasted sweet corn. Very tasty!! more
