this place is awesome if you like to shoot pool. king sized table available all afternoon and early evening with no one around!

This is a pretty hip hotel close to Central Park. This hotel isn't very kid-friendly, so just try to come here by yourself or with your partner. The shower was nice. The room over...

Swanky hotel bar 12/12/2006

This review is about the BAR at the Hudson hotel, not the rooms. Entrance is very enticing with green lights at the entrance and a glass door looking onto an up-escalator. At the top, you'll find yourself in the hotel lobby, with the bar behind you. Bar has a very interesting crowd, definite people-watching spot. Wait-staff is friendly, though not very quick, make sure you have time to enjoy your $9 beer! brick walls are painted gold, which would normally be kind of tacky, but it somehow works with the dim lighting and feel of the place (without being tacky!) Seemed like a good mix of both single people, and friends out with other friends. more

Hudson Hotel 12/18/2005

I hated this hotel. It was so dark…bring a lamp, seriously, you will feel like you’re in a cave here. It was also cold, especially during the night. Staff were unpleasant. Room service food was extremely overpriced and disgusting. The bathroom was TINY, like you can barely fit in there. The room overall was the size of a closet. Not worth the price at all. more

Trendy, fun, sceney hotel 9/4/2005

I see lots of negative reviews on the Hudson Hotel. Ignore them. This hotel is fun & priced right. As with most New York City hotels, the rooms are small. Ours fit a double bed, nightstand, and armoire-type thing and it was a tight fit. However, as two adults who didn't travel to NYC to hang out in our hotel room, we never minded this. The rooms are done in modern decor and are very pleasing to the eye despite their size. The beds were comfy, the showers were hot, there was television and radio - good enough for me. The hotel itself is awesome. The design is like nothing I've ever seen before. There is a restaurant (Hudson Cafeteria) that has good American fare. The Hudson Bar was dark, loud, and full of beautiful people. As a hotel guest, you are given a VIP pass so that you can enter the bar (get past the velvet rope) any time during your stay. The hotel is centrally located, on W 58th Street which is close to Central Park, Broadway & the theater district, and an easy walk to Rockefeller Center. If you are a fan of the Ian Schrager hotels, or like modern, fun decor & people, then this is a great hotel. We paid $189 per night and had an awesome time. more

Trendy Hotel Bar 8/31/2005

This is a fun place for people watching--there are beautiful people everywhere and the spot is quite trendy. I particularly like the Library Bar which is more low keat and has a cozy feel to it. You can sit in the Library Bar by the warm fireplace in the winter while enjoying a game of chess. more

Chic Hotel in the Heart of Times Square 8/15/2005

The Hudson Hotel is a New York City landmark and is one of the more chic hotels in New York. It has several bars and a world-renowned cafe and restrauant (the Hudson Cafeteria). This is the place to be seen and to be seen as many hip New York City residents come to the hotel to hang out. The rooms are spacious (by New York City standards) but also super-expensive if you don't use something like hotwire or priceline. Expect to pay over $200 for a "standard" room. That said, the location is great. It's located in central Mid Town New York near Times Square on W 58th Street. There are plenty of cabs you can take to and from the hotel, and it's a near a subway station as well. more

Midtown West's best chic, trendy hotel--so far.

Editorial
  • Despite its name, the chic courtyard lounge garden in the lobby of the Hudson Hotel is open to the public from 8am to 12am daily, though cocktails--of which there are many--are only served after noon. Forty-five-foot trees and ivy-covered walls give Private Park a magical feel; it's like the chic New York hotel version of "The Secret Garden."
