Lovely Handling of the Situation 2/22/2011

So i was just getting a haircut at Hoshi Coupe Chelsea since only they can do my hair best and i come forth to noticing the manager isn't there that day. I have complained a while back due to the horrible attitude the manager gave to me due to an unpleasant color. Surprisingly i haven't found her today. I asked curiously and found out she was fired. The staffs informed me she was fired due to her horrible attitude towards clients and her negative hospitality. The staff also said they treat this case very seriously and won't negotiate with any terms due to the bad treatment the manager has given to the customers. Excellent handling of the situation. Now i won't regret going to Hoshi Coupe Chelsea knowing the mean manager isn't there. Everyone at Hoshi Coupe Chelsea was fine except her but now with her gone i can enjoy my haircuts without any worry of getting bad hospitality by the manager. Excellent job by the boss!! more

Bad attitude of the manager and customer service 9/4/2010

They charged me $280 on Japanese straightening. It only took them 3 hours to complete the entire process, including 30min of hair-cut. The time they spent on the process is the shortest ever I have heard. They claimed that that's because my hair is not too much and not very curly so it didn't take that long to process. Fine, I don't care how long it takes to straighten my hair. All i want is to have straight hair. But in the end, after just one day, my hair went back to the condition before I did the straightening, a.k.a, my hair is not straight as i expected. And when i called them and spoke to the manager about that i'm not happy about my hair. and she claimed that that's because my hair length is up to the shoulder and that's why the bottom part is not straight. and she said that on the day after I did my straightening in their shop, my hair was perfectly straight. And it must be because my hair condition changed so that my hair is not straight after one day. Come on, I didn't wash my head as i was told not to do so within one day after I did the process. Nothing changed, and I was told that the straightening should last for at least 6 months. The manager was very very rude speaking to me and she even shouted to say that show her that my hair is not straight right now. I told her that i don't have time right now i have to wait until weekend, she just hung up on me! and with regards to the stylists, those Japanese just don't speak and listen English well. It took me long to explain to him what I want with lots of gestures. but in the end, it turns not to be the way I wanted. Besides, their skills are just so so. I just feel that he rushed to complete the process and didn't really pay attention to the quality at all. I would never ever go back to that shop again and I wouldn't recommend anyone go to that shop. Unfortunately the ""one star"" is the lowest rating, otherwise, i would have given them a -5 rating! more

Manager is a nightmare 2/7/2010

Today, upon arrival I was greeted by the manager and she introduced me to the stylist who would be cutting my hair. She asked about my hair and what I wanted done (all fine so far) which was great as the stylist spoke very little English and I don't speak Japanese. She didn't stick around so long and pretty much walked away as I was still trying to explain how I wanted it cut. As she had passed on the direction in Japanese to the stylist I hoped that based on her confident (arrogant) demeanor that she understood and that I needn't worry. Only somewhat true. The stylist was a lovely guy and tried hard to understand me as I was asking for ""some more off there"" and ""needs texture here"" with hand motions and even a quick sketch on paper. After a long time the manager came over and started berating me that I was changing my mind and confusing the stylist. I was told by her that I wasn't listening properly, that I didn't know what I wanted and did not know how to communicate. I did try to hold it together and explained again to her what I wanted for the style, she relayed to the stylist and it worked. I did in the end get a good haircut, it was along the lines that I wanted but it took over two hours to achieve what usually takes less than one. Needless to say i was fuming at her treatment of me, I have never been told off by a hairdresser. The poor stylist who cut my hair was apologizing so much because he couldn't understand me and completely disappeared soon after the haircut was over. On my way out the door I told the manager that I thought she was very rude. She quickly told me I was rude and that I had no idea. I said something about the 'customer being right' which she obviously didn't like as she has since left me a voicemail saying that if I don't like her treatment ""then don't ever show up here"". I won't go back, which is a shame as I do like the cut. But I would STRONGLY advise that you don't go there either. The rest of the staff are lovely but that manager is a nightmare with a nasty mouth and a warped idea of customer service. Pros: Friendly staff Cons: Manager is a nightmare more

Quiet and Serene atmosphere 7/8/2008

Tomoko is a sweetie. I explained to her the kind of highlights I wanted and she explained the results may vary to a more caramel color. They came out beautifully. highly recommend her services! Pros: Ambience, friendly staff Cons: no credit cards more

worst hair nightmare 1/10/2008

I usually go to a colorist at another one of the hoshi salons, but she was on vacation, so I went here instead (on the recommendation of my usual salon). Needless to say, I left with an awful mess. The enormity of the situation really only became clear to me when I arrived at home, with my dull and overly dark, fake looking tresses. I was tempted to go back and insist on a fix, but the possibility that things could get worse has kept me from doing so. \r I also felt that this was pretty unprofessional - the colorist who did my hair spent quite a bit of time dissing the color job (highlights and lowlights) that I received from my normal salon. All in all, a very bad karma experience. more

Horrible Management 10/18/2007

The manager of this salon is a textbook example of poor customer service.\r \r We are long time customers and recently tried to make a last minute appointment with out favorite stylist. It appeared she was busy but the receptionist said to call back later to see.\r \r When we called back, the manger curtly told us ""If we said the stylist is busy, the stylist is busy. Don't call back.""\r \r When we explained we were long time customers the manager replied that she ""was the manger of this salon and I'll talk however I like.""\r \r Needless to say, we'll never be back. Pros: Good neighborhood Cons: Management more
