Fun to shop in good weather 4/15/2006

I've never tried to shop at this open air mall in the rain but I have to think that it wouldn't be fun! It's a great mall, just park in the underground parking lot and buy something, anything to get your parking pass validated and you get a free 3 hours. The mall has most of your normal mall shops and some fun ones added in. If you're a sports fan, there's a great collectibles shop here. It's just a nice place to be out on a sunny San Diego day. It can get a little frustrating if you don't know your way around but once you figure it out you'll be set for life! more

Easy to get lost here 4/10/2006

I am sure the architect of this place meant for it to be a crazy maze where you would have to walk by eveyr shop to find your way out of here ... kind of like an IKEA. Having said that, Horton Plaza offere a nice array of shops. I have found staff at this center to be helpful. You get a couple of hours of free parking with validation. If you have some other shopping to do in the Gaslamp, park at the centers garage and then pick up some gum or a greeting card at Long's (on the bottom level near the Starbucks) to get validated. Happy Shopping! more

huge! 11/17/2005

This mall is huge and is like a maze. It's about 3 stories high and is constantly crowded. Located in the heart of downtown it's also a great place to get 3 hours of free parking to visit neighboring restaurants or sites. This mall is a lot of fun and people like going there. it has a lot of stores. In the morning, it's where the local news station films the morning news so you can walk on by and be on tv! The parking lot is cool because the levels are all fruit and vegetable names. The movie theatre is also pretty cool too. more

Good shopping 10/18/2005

This place has the best food shops! If I'm downtown I stop here to get food. Plenty of parking only you get lost trying to find the mall entrance and then your parking spot. Good shops. Easy directories. Lots of variety. Free parking up to 3 hours. DOnt go over three hours. They'll charge you a whole lot of money! They have a movie theatre. Lots of coffee shops. Open air mall so you can enjoy the sun on a sunny day. This mall does get a bit crowded. The walkways are slightly narrow. But when I can, I go down to this mall! more

shopping heaven!! 10/13/2005

This mall is HUGE and it has almost everything you can think of. Horton Plaza covers 6-1/2 city blocks and is up to 5 stories high. There is about 130 shops and restaurants including a Long's Drugs where everyone gets their parking validations/gum =). Shop till you drop! And at night, there are nice places to go clubbing in Gaslamp around that area more

Good shopping place 9/15/2005

Horton Plaza is a nice place to take people who haven't been to san diego and want to do a little shopping. While a mall seems like an odd tourist attraction, this is no ordinary mall and is one of the most identifiable landmarks of people who have visited me. Located in the heart of San diego, it also is a great place to keep your car parked and explore nearby restaurants. almost everything is within walking distance of Horton. Parking is free for the first three hours as long as you get your ticket validated. Before 10pm, you can stamp it yourself at Sam goodys. After ten, you can buy a stick of gum at the loog's drugstore. The mall is uniqely designed with bright colors, lots of stores, and lots of stories tall. The place is like a maze. You might see the store you want to go to in the distance, but you really have no idea how to get there! A lot of the stores are uncommon, ones you don't see in other malls. Great place to visit and shop to your heart's content. more

HUGE! 8/14/2005

The first thing to note about Horton Plaza is that it's huge! It's story upon story of stores and restaurants. If there's a store you're looking for, Horton Plaza probably has it. That being said, most of the stores are corporate chains. You won't find any independent music stores, stationary shops, or such here. Still it's a fun place to spend a few hours wondering around. It's hard for shoppers to resist! more
