Hand's down next to Iggie's in Sandy this is one of the WORST places to go to in the Northern Utah area. Anyone that tries to tell you that you have had too many drinks before you have even had four pints of Utah 3.2% beer, by the way that's like two pints anywhere else in America for those of you that don't know Utah's laws. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/18/2013

If you feel like getting a shakedown when ordering a beer, go ahead and visit Hoppers. The waitress asked my wife for her ID, looked at it and then asked her to leave it out on the table and she would be back. Minutes later a second employee (host?) comes to our table, reviews her ID and then asked for mine, mind you I am 46. How about 1 person ID? When asking the host about this upon leaving, he said two pairs of eyes are better than one. I've never had this experience anywhere. Either they believe their servers are idiots or need eye exams, or they think their patrons are fooling them.\r \r From there, the menus were crusty and greasy and matched the table's presentation.\r \r The food was average, but everything tasted worse after the opening act. \r \r The only positive was the 5 minute wait, go figure...\r \r \r \r \r more

I love this place! 9/22/2011

My wife and I have been going to Hoppers for over ten years and we have always loved the food and service. The fresh bread they serve you as you sit down is amazing. The food has always been top knotch. Our favorite dish is the Chicken Picatta (sp?) with the fried green beans. The chocolate chip cookie dessert served in the skillet is crazy good as well. Make sure to check this place out! more

Great Place!! 3/8/2011

I highly recommend Hoppers for lunch or dinner. My family goes quite often. We have always had great service and delicious food. It has a great atmosphere. Everyone that works there is very friendly. Whenever we have out of town guests we always take them to Hoppers. We have friends that ask to go back there when they come back to town. Fabulous place to go!! more

Great Casual Atmosphere and Beer made on site 4/27/2010

I just visited Hopper's after a long time away and I must say that it is a great place to sit down and have a meal and a few beverages. I think I counted 9 different beers of all varieties, all made on site. Perfectly sized menu. Back in the day, I used to stick to the blackened fish tacos or a bowl of chowder, but I am going to have to go back and be more adventurous because the philly cheese steak was awesome. Location is great as it is right off of I-215. The pubs near the canyon are too crowded and it is something special to enjoy a beer made in the same building. FYI- Utah beers are 4.0% by volume, as opposed to 4.5-5.5% in most places. You can also buy full strength beers by the bottle in almost all Utah Breweries including Hoppers. I don't recall bad service in the past and today's was excellent. If I had to come up with a criticism it would be that their salad menu is not that well rounded out and a patio would be nice in the summer. Overall, I would give this place a 9.5 especially if you are recovering from a day on the slopes. Pros: Perfect Pub Menu Cons: No Patio for summer dining more

Best salmon 12/31/2008

I grew up in the north west right on the coast and I have had some very good seafood and I must say that their salmon was some of the best i have ever had. The service was excellent we were seated Quickly. Very friendly staff. The only bad thing I have to say was that their broccoli was not cooked how I like it but most people like theirs a little crunchy. I would go their again. Pros: good food good service Cons: parking a little tight more

Great wings and chicken fingers---avoid the seafood 11/25/2008

The wings and chicken strips are EXCELLANT!!! Wings are spicy and the chicken strips are juicy and tender. However, the seafood wasnt good. The grilled Halibut was overcooked and bland, as was the grilled salmon. more

Great Customer Service, Great Food 4/18/2008

This place was a very pleasant surprise. I was a little worried to give it a try b/c some of the reviews said it had sub-par food. I decided to give it a try after I read in the Tribune it had the best fish and chips in the valley. The baked artichoke dip was absolutely delicious, and HUGE!! I ordered the Halibut fish and chips which I would recommend to anyone...it was fresh tasting and not greasy at all...as for the reviews for skimpy portions how anyone managed to finish their plates is beyond me. I had a beer as well that was good...can't seem to remember the name but they said it was like a Corona but an original brew. I was stuffed but our server told us we had to try the Bread Pudding and she was right...it is fabulous. Servers were really friendly...and seemed to enjoy their jobs...the bathrooms were clean which is something else I like to see when I am at a restaurant.. I will definitely go back again. Pros: Great Service, Huge portions of Tasty Food Cons: Long wait on Friday Night more

A Real find for Microbreweries 3/18/2008

I am an admitted fan of Microbreweries. But this one was a total shot in the dark. We were running some errands on St. Paddy's day and my wife and I were hungry, so I suggested we find some place we hadn't been before and try it out. We were driving east on Fort Union boulevard and we passed Hoppers Grill, and decided that was a good choice. Pros: Great atmosphere, great service Cons: Some of the staff seemed under age more

poor service 3/6/2008

Hoppers-cold-still frozen inside chicken wings-four times it happened-pizza crust that is sloppy-slow service-have sat at the abr for mor than 20 minutes several times w/o even seeing a bartender or server--the only beer they serve that is worth it is the porter-the place used to be a different restaurant and it not really set up efficiently as a brew pub-the servers station at the bar is in the path to the restrooms so you need to watch for servers taking beer from the bar to the tables w/o looking-they only do monthly specials not daily or weekly and they are not even original-hmm corn beef and cabbage during march for st patricks day-the place is owned by the same company that owns red robin and sizzler-so being a corporate entity they are not interested in good food and a nice atmosphere but more into making a quick profit-me rather go to squatters or red rock, bohemian if i'm in the mood for czech and austrian style food-also a good czech ale-or if I want a very good selection the bayou (private club with over 200 beers) Pros: the porter Cons: slow service, limited menu and fod not cooked properly more

Crab omelet and sticky buns 1/11/2008

Lunch at Hoppers is ok but their Sunday brunch is delicious. The coffee is very good and they serve it with real cream which seems increasingly hard to find in resturants. You get a plate of 6 sticky buns when they seat you and I must warn you, they are addictive! I would eat the whole plate if I could. We always get the same thing, the crab omelet and a side of fruit. The omelet is big enough to share and it is filled with REAL crab meat, and tons of cheese, then topped with tomatoes and avocado. We like it with a side of hollandaise....SO good. The fruit varies every time but it is usually fresh and plentiful. There hasn't ever been a wait when we've gone either. Maybe I shouldn't be writing a good review of their brunch so we can keep it that way??? Pros: Crab omelet and sticky buns Cons: stick with brunch...the rest of their menu is average more

Great place 9/28/2007

We really like this restaurant. Seating is prompt. Service is fast. The food and beer is great. We came for breakfast on a Sunday and they give you complementary cinamon rolls which are great. more

Quirky 6/19/2006

They try hard to be different. Unfortunately it wasn't to my taste. Fried foods were the best of what I've tried. Their home brewed ginger ale and rootbeer are strongly flavored and can be offputting. Pros: fried foods Cons: strange flavors may not appeal more

THE BEST Brew Pub in Utah! 11/21/2003

Hoppers has to be my favorite place in Salt Lake. They have some of the best beers there. The Madame-X Stout has the flavor of Guiness with NO aftertaste. The Hefe there is second to none. Oh I almost forgot the food is magnificent the onion rings are to die for, I love the blackened Halibut, and the coconut shrip are great. definatly worth going to over and over again. Pros: Great Beer , Great Fish , Awesome Service more

Midgrade in Midvale 3/13/2003

Utah doesn't have a great rap for being beer friendly. Well, Salt Lake have quite a few breweries for being a dry state. A majority of them are downtown or in Park City but a few are in the valley. Bohemian and Hoppers being in Midvale and on the same road. I've been by there quite a few times. The place looked ultra new. And very ""chain"" like. The interior looked liek it too. No character. All new and very stripmall oriented. Service was nice. People where nice. And the beer wasn't bad at all. The food however was below average. It tasted like it was out of a can. It was like going to TGI fridays with fresh brew. I'll stick to the more ""real"" breweries like Squatters or Bohemian. Pros: OK Beer, Clean, Easy Parking Cons: Out of the way, Bad Food, Not Unique more

Best Beer in Utah 2/19/2003

The beer is fantastic. People say you cant get real beer in Utah. Just come into Hoppers. The super chicken sandwich and garlic burger are incredible. But most the beer is great. Just sit at the bar and let the beutiful women serve you your favorite micro-brew Pros: great beer, good prices, great appetizers more

Seafood is their specialty? 12/11/2002

I see all of these billboards sporting Hoppers as a seafood mecca or something....I went to Hoppers and, to be safe, ordered the fich and chips. The portion was small, and the quality was horrible. It is not hard to get fried fish right, but somehow Hoppers failed. Their beer is good, but the food was very much below par. I will not be back. If I want to hang out and have a beer? BREWVIES or MURPHY's BAR and GRILL. Try those two out, and pass Hoppers on by. Pros: Good Beer Cons: Bad food more

For pizza? 12/5/2002

Don't get me wrong, I love hoppers grill, for burgers and steak, but for pizza?? this list was quite a let down. who do they ask for these polls?? more

greasy, greasy, greasy 10/17/2002

Their food is only average. The pastas are unbelievably greasy. The food is bland. I do enjoy their orange brew though. more

Seafood is awesome 8/28/2002

I gave Hoppers another try, and it was great. I ordered the halibut, and it was awesome. I'll be back. more
