Craving meat? Don't discount the fantastic vegan taco. Add a lovely patio plus margaritas and you get a great afternoon. more

Awesome Mexican Fusion Food! 11/6/2010

Oh man, this is an amazing place to eat! Everything from the tortas to the tacos and fresh guacamole is top notch. Chef Phalen is very creative and talented and does things on his menu that you just don't see anywhere else in Atlanta. The servers are friendly and I always trust their recommendations. I also recommend this a destination place for virgin margaritas if you're pregnant but warning: you will crave them! And in case you're not pregnant, they have a HUGE selection of tequilas to choose from. more

Skip it. 5/7/2010

I've been here a few times and never really had good food. The descriptions look amazing, but the food is bland and way overpriced. Pros: Patio Cons: Everything else more

BOO! 5/2/2010

ordered 5 of 8 tacos. all were over dressed with some pickled thing or another. the only one that lacked proper dressing was the beef tongue, which had no onion, no lime, and virtually no cilantro....i have never been offered a tongue taco without all three. the server forgot to put in our order of guacamole, appologized when our tacos came out, and then asked if we had room for dessert before we got our guac. in his embarassment, he took all the silverware (even though we still had food), and the replacements he brought (after i asked=5 mintues) were filthy. while the wait staff were all busy, it seemed to me that we got less attention than tables that ordered alcohol. i'm not cheap, i just like water. OK, server dude? oh yeah, he took the pitcer of water off of our table to refresh the table next to ours....thats not cool. Pros: ? Cons: dirty silverware, greasy chips, attitude more

Holy Taco---DONT GO!! 4/29/2010

Basically the food was NOT good... it was very bland... if you like real Mexican food, this is NOT the place for you... definitely not authentic... our server lied to us constantly... he was just super lazy... the atmosphere was very nice tho... very nice... the chips were super thick and greasy... I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone Pros: nice atmosphere Cons: bland food, bad service more

EAV's best margarita AND best patio 2/5/2010

This place is a little piece of awesome in the EAV, and it?s completely worthy of your food snob love. Also, Holy Taco has got to have one of my favorite patio?s in Atlanta. It?s huge. It?s rarely completely full. It offers great people-watching. I like to try something new every time that I go because every time that I do, I end up LOVING IT. For instance, the last time we went we vowed to try something other than just guac and chips to start us off, and we fell madly in love with their arepas. All of the tacos that I?ve tried have rocked my tastebuds. Try being a little adventurous in this place. Skirt steak quesadilla with a side of the quinoa salad? Sounds odd, but is quite the combination. Also, do your self a favor and top it off with a margarita. They make one of Atlanta?s finest. Pros: Excellent food, margaritas, service (I'm serious!), & PATIO! Cons: Haven't found one yet more

Great Service! 11/30/2009

When I first visited this place in April I was ill prepared for the circus freak servers that approached my table. What a difference a few months make. We dined at thw Holy Taco for a benefit in support of an abused dog. Our server, Craig, was marvelous. In addition to Craig, the 3 other servers that worked that evening worked as a team and answered the numerous questions we had about the menu. On the way out, we stopped by the bar and outside of the unattentive bartender, the other bartender, Jason was simply dazzling. If you are seeking authentic Latin food and great service from an attractive staff, you'll find it at the Holy Taco, Atlanta's hidden culinary gem! more

Example: great place for good bread 4/3/2009

I have been to Holy Taco several times and I have loved this place. In the past, the food was awesome - completely unlike anything I could find in the city. It was a unique dining experience for which I enjoyed making the trip. However, tonight my experience and the food changed everything. I'm not sure if the chef has changed or if there is a new management team in business, but I had an awful experience. The hostess seated 2 couples infront of us (we were only a party of 2), the guacamole was terribly over spiced, I was served something that I did not order, and I was charged for an organic margarita even though I was served a house one. Our waitress was anything but professional and she made us feel awkward when we questioned our order. We will try Holy Taco again because of our positive experiences in the past, however it will only be one more try. This restaurant (sadly) is not as good as it once was. Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Don't bother. 3/31/2009

The food was overpriced and mediocre at best. In addition, I am still suffering from stomach issues after eating dinner there last night. The drinks are very overpriced for the small size and amount of alcohol in them. The chips were over cooked and you had to pay for the salsa to come along with them. The guacamole was average, but a bit bland except for an excessive onion flavor to it. The taco I got was tiny and the meat and sauce was extremely bland so that the primary flavor coming through was the cheese. The side of black beans were so salty that I could only eat half of them. For about $20 I got aq weak margarita, a tiny taco and a side of almost inedible black beans. It was the worst $20 I have spent on food in a very long time. I would suggest avoiding this place. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Food, Drinks, Prices, Resulting stomach ache more

Very good! Excellent prices 3/5/2009

Love the food. My faves were: shrimp torta, chile rellenos, shrimp salad and organic margaritas more

Charging for salsa? No me gusta! 2/25/2009

The food at Holy Taco is alright, but them charging for each thimblefull of salsa you are given is ridiculous. Ya'll, tomatoes ain't that expensive! I wore my best bulletproof vest to East Atlanta and this is how you treat me? Pros: Good patio, pretty good food and beer selection Cons: Charging for each ramekin of salsa more

awesome local bar 12/30/2008

I love Holy Taco. EAV has 3 Mexican restaurants and this is by far my favorite. The Pork Tortas are the best, but everything I've had there is awesome. The salsa is a little pricey but it is fresh. Go with the Veggie Taco instead of ordering the rice and bean separately, it's cheaper and better! Pros: fresh food, nice patio, inside is non-smoking Cons: can be expensive for mexican more

Awesome mojitos & Margaritas 10/15/2008

We just moved to the area and were looking for a place with good mojitos and margaritas. Although the drinks were small, they were very strong and tasty! The homemade chips were very yummy! This will definitely be a spot we visit frequently. more

Yum-O Mexican In East Atlanta Village! 10/4/2008

EAV scores again, with this ultra-cool Mexican joint, with one great patio. And the prices are too good. What a good change from all the frou-frou cantina's around the city. We started with two terrific organic Margarita's, and some wonderful Spanish Style Gazpacho. And another one of those Margarita's. We both had to get a Grilled Shrimp Torta, which was out of this world. And Grilled Corn on The Cob w/White Mexican Cheese. This place is worth a drive from Buckhead anytime, and the this time of year, dining alfresco is pure heaven. And the service, with-out Buckhead attitude, was right on. Pros: All Fresh Organic Ingredients & Margarita's Also! Great Prices! Wonderful Patio! Cons: It's Not Near Our House, But Well Worth The Drive! more

Organic food and an open airy patio great for after work. 6/30/2008

Organic, free range, antibiotic free food has never been this delicious or this inexpensive. Local producers help to keep only the freshest of food coming out plate after plate. With a lively patio and cool causal interior, Holy Taco is truly heaven sent. Not JUST a Mexican restaurant, this Latin themed casual restaurant is a convenient spot to drop into after work with friends and enjoy an evening of great food and drinks. Pros: Organic, free range meats sourced from local producers Cons: None. more

Chili Rellino Rocks! 6/24/2008

Never had a bad meal at this place. The staff is always awesome. Great patio, great Chili Rellinos, Great shrimp Tortas! Pros: Location Cons: Expensive salsa more

New Twist on affordable Mexican 6/24/2008

A great place to go hang out on the patio, have some good drinks and great food. The cheese dip and chips are addictive. Never had anything like them anywhere! The Carne Asada Torta is wonderful and the bread is homeade, crunchy and delicious! The food is not greasy, overcooked or overspiced like some mexican restaurants. Everything tastes freshly made. Love the music! Great mix of everything. We had a neighborhood party there and they handle larges crowds beautifully! I can't say enough good things about it! A great addition to the already wonderful East Atlanta Village. Pros: Vibe, drinks, service, FOOD,FOOD, FOOD!! Cons: Not a thing! more

Best taco's and torta's in town 6/24/2008

This place is the place to go if you want a taco or torta the way they are meant to be made. Pros: Cheap good food more

Great food and service 11/22/2006

Went with a group of 6. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was outstanding! The short ribs were wonderful. Also would recommend the calamari and crab cakes as appetizers. Pros: food, service more

Booooooooo! What a waste. 8/24/2006

This is the perfect spot for a great restaurant. Too bad Crave misses by a mile. Our ribs were very fatty, the tuna was overcooked to the point of nearly being tuna jerky, and there's not enough range in wine prices. Overall, we felt we vastly overpaid for a very poor-quality meal. We will never, ever go back - it's just not worth it. Shoot, the Earl has better food for better prices! Pros: Nice waitress. Cons: Pricey, bad food, why don't they spruce up that barren patio? more
