In the process of searching on line for holy smoke tel number I came across these reviews. We had our woodstove installed by Holy smoke 2 1/2 yrs ago and are very satisfied with the stove as well as the service we have received. They have cleaned and serviced our stove for 2 years now at a VERY reasonable price.Along with good pricing we found they have competent knowledgeable service/installers. Bob just resolved our problem over the phone with one email he answered within 24 hours.Can't ask for more than that. Holy Smoke is highly recommended from our home. I did my homework and found the best price by over $300 even though it was further away. I bought my stove about a year ago and had an issue with the automatic dampener and it was replaced by Bob at Holy Smoke under warranty free of charge. My wife and I bought our home about a year ago. We knew that the chimney liner was cracked, but used it anyways. This year, the whole liner cracked and fell down our chimney, rendering our woodstove useless. We called around to the 2 places in Ithaca, one treated me like an idiot for not having a thorough knowledge of woodstove systems, and the other did not show up for the estimate, which would have cost me $80!. Luckily, I also called Bob at Holy Smoke. Before he showed up for the estimate, he called, confirmed our time. When he did show up, I knew right away that I could trust this man with fixing our main heat source. He knew EVERYTHING about our woodstove, and he took the time to explain it to me as well. He followed up with the competitive price and explained everything that would be done. I did have to wait 2 weeks to get the work done, but I am sure every place is busy in the middle of December. Yesterday was the install, it was POURING RAIN. I thought for sure that they would have to cancel, but sure enough Holy Smoke showed up, the guys were professional, taking the time to explain everything to me and making me feel confident that I made the right choice. The treated my dogs with respect, and they treated my house with respect, making sure that they left everything cleaner than how they found it. I stayed for half the install then I had to head to work. They called me when they were done with the chimney relining, and said that they started a fire for me, I came home that evening to a beautiful fire in our newly fixed woodstove. It is now working 10X better than it did in the past. I would recommend Holy Smoke to anyone. more

Bought a Harman pellet stove in June 2008. We have had to have warranty work done and have had nothing but a hassle to get it done. Told in 2008 it would cost us $175 just to come to our house (less then 5 miles away) to do diagnostic if it wasn't a warranty issue. After that issue was resolved it worked fine...until Aug. 2009. Now we have 2 warranty problems with the stove...Holy Smoke claims to be calling Harman on a regular basis to resolve our problem. As of today they still are unable to resolve the problem. Instead we went to Ithaca Stove Works..they made a phone call while we waited and ordered both parts and scheduled an appt in less than 2 weeks. Thought we were doing the right thing by buying local..I forgot con men can live right around the corner too. Pros: ??? Cons: High price, lack of customer service more

We purchased a new Bio-Mass stove this year. The stove was installed in a timely manner and one of the tech guys even came at the end of the installation to give us a personal lesson on how to use all of the features. A week later there was a problem with the stove. Bob came out to remedy it free of charge. When the problem turned out to be a manufacturers glitch, Bob arranged to have the stove replaced and upgraded to the newest model. All of this was done at NO ADDITIONAL COST TO US. This guy has his worker do 20 mins of work with a 30 dollar sweep and vaccum. Then when your done, you get a bill for an hours worth of work plus tax ($175 an hour!!). Pros: Showed up like he was supposed to Cons: Billed almost 200 bucks for 20 mins of work more

this guy is the biggest joke i have ever seen. he gives us an estimate over the phone with out ever coming to the house. then he demands that we send him half the money so he can order the stuff to do our install which i thought was a joke to begin with. so my wife and i clear our schedule so we can be here on the day he demanded it be done then he calls us the night before at 7:30 to tell us he never ordered the supplies for our chimney or the stove pipe . then he wants to refuse giving me my money back. so dont be a fool and use this guy for anything. Cons: you name it .. he is a con more

...because that is what you will say when you get the bill!! Bob must think a lot of himself and his crew to justify the HUGE markup he places on his goods and services. I paid $2700 for a stove that 3 other dealers just outside the area were selling for $2000. Then there is the labor costs - highest around by far. Compared to everyone else I talked to that had a stove put in that same year I got hosed!! Wish I did my homework., shop around. more
