A quiet retreat 9/7/2005

The Holy Family Shrine was built a few years ago and is affiliated with the Archdiocese of Omaha but one does not have to be Catholic to enjoy the beauty and splendor of this place. On a clear day the sun will shine thru the etching (which is above the altar) creating a glorious reflection. The statues' eyes look almost human bearing great compassion. It's worth a trip out to see the architecture and spend some time enjoying the scenary as it overlooks the Platte River Valley. Also, there is a visitor's center where people can learn the story behind the shrine or relax in the sunroom. The shrine actually plans on expanding which will make it even more retreat like. more

Beautiful to see!!! 8/4/2005

This church is truly astounding to visit. Even if you have no religious affiliation, this place is great to visit just to appreciate the architecture and design. You can see it from the highway and the glass is amazing. If you’ve driven on the highway near Gretna, you’re likely seen it and maybe wondered what it is. I’m not even sure what religion it’s affiliated with, but I like to stop there periodically just to admire it once again. more
