Best

The Hogle Zoo seems to be the ideal zoo... big enough that you can see quite a few animals and learn a lot of new things, yet small enough that you don't feel absolutely exhausted...

Worst

This is the most horrible zoo that I have ever been to. For starters they do not have disabled access at all. The biggest problem however is the treatment of the animals. They ...

Awesome Bird Show 3/24/2006

I would recommend if you plan on going there more than twice a year to buy a season pass it is cheaper, It isnt the greatest zoo in the world but its the only one in utah, baring the train ride at lagoon, The food is expensive, The new elephant exhibit is cool, the bird show is really good. There are too many steep hills to climb. more

Don't pick a hot day to go! 3/17/2006

If you're planning a trip to Hogle Zoo, make sure you plan it on a day with average weather/temperatures. Choosing a really hot day to go will cause you to miss out on seeing a big chunk of the animals. In the extreme heat, many are kept in different areas that are not available to the public for viewing. Overall, Hogle Zoo is a decent zoo for the size. On a good day, you will have the opportunity to see many interesting animals from all over the world. Kids love this place and it brings back many childhood memories for adults. more

A fun little Zoo 10/14/2005

I used to go to the zoo like once a year when I was a kid and really enjoyed. I even took dates there and had a good time. The Hogle Zoo really doesn't have any competition, but it's still a good place to take your kids and see a monkey pee. more

This is a zoo 9/12/2005

This is the most horrible zoo that I have ever been to. For starters they do not have disabled access at all. The biggest problem however is the treatment of the animals. They live in tiny confined areas in conditions that are horrible. They are nothing like their natural habitat. For instance, when I visited the zoo the pengins were outdoors in 100 degree weather with no shade except for an old tarp that was half hanging in a tree. Every single penguin was huddled in the small space underneath the tarp to get some shade. Their water was in the open sun and I am sure was blistering hot. There was no access to the indoors for these poor creatures. I would like to see this zoo shut down. The animals deserve much better than that. more

A great outing for the family 8/20/2005

The Hogle Zoo seems to be the ideal zoo... big enough that you can see quite a few animals and learn a lot of new things, yet small enough that you don't feel absolutely exhausted after trying to see it all. You can probably see most of what you want in 3 hours... a good thing if you ask me. The kids really liked the lion exhibit, the elephants and of course, the monkeys. The bird adventure is particularly fun... by a stick of birdseed and watch the birds go wild! more

A Great ZOO 8/19/2005

A fun day out with the family! This zoo is so much fun. It can be hard to find a parking spot on a busy day, so we had to walk a little ways to get to the entrance. The bathrooms are placed conveniently throughout the part. We took a picnic in and bought our drinks there. Prices were reasonable. Nice family outing for a nice day! more

Underrated Zoo 8/17/2005

Hogle zoo is very underrated as a zoo. I love animals and zoo's and I have to say that Hogle is a very well maintained zoo that deserves more credit. The seem to always be well kept and the faciclties are constantly being updated. I go back every now and again and the zoo keeps changing. It's a great place for families or just animal lovers. more

Fun for your Young ones. 8/11/2005

The Hogle Zoo is a fun place for your Young Ones. Admission is $8.00 for adults and free for those 2 and under. Discount Tickets can be found at local stores and on the internet. If you have a child who is young I definitley recommend taking a stroller as there is a lot of walking and your toddlers will tire out easy. They just opened up a new Elephant exhibit and it is very popular right now. They have animals that cover pretty much every region from what I could tell. One of my favorites is the penguins. We also like to ride the train. Its not a very long ride but its fun. They have the gift shops and some eating areas as well. As always park food is expensive so you may want to eat before or after your visit. Or maybe take some snacks in with you. more

Great Zoo 8/10/2005

I think hogle zoo is well mainted and they are always adding things to the zoo. It is a great place with just about every animal there. They are always working on things, the Price is right and it is in a GREAT location. It doesnt compare with a san diego zoo or some of the bigger zoos out there but i think it still delievers a good bang for your buck. more

Hogle Zoo! 8/9/2005

The Hogle zoo is my favorite. I will always remember going there as a kid. It is a pretty big zoo and they have alot of different and interesting animals. If you have never been to this zoo and your thinking about going, you really should. This is a quality zoo, its better that most I have been to. more

Hogle Zoo 8/9/2005

Hogle Zoo located in salt lake city is a pretty good zoo. They have all your normal animals to see like elephants, zebras, lions, tigers, and bears, ect... I really enjoy the bird shows that they do once in a while. That is amazing to see those birds do what they do. Quite fun. Hogle Zoo is a great place for kids or just to spend a fun afternoon looking at all the great animals. They also have a small train ride that goes around a part of the park - kids love this small train ride. If you have not been you should go and check it out more

Pretty good zoo, worth the trip 8/2/2005

I've been spoiled a bit, I guess. We lived in Columbus, Ohio for a couple of years...and their zoo is one of the best. It's the Jack Hanna zoo, so you expect it to be good. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed in the Hogle Zoo on my first trip....since I was comparing it to Columbus. I liked it better our second trip and was able to notice the good things about it. Prices are very fair $8 for adults, $6 for kids 3-12. You can often find discount tickets, as well. They have lots of different animals and the new elephant adventure is pretty good. You should definitely check out the bird house and feed the birds. It's a very different experience. The zoo train is a big disappointment. You whisk by a few different animal areas, and the kids never really get a chance to see any of the animals. It's a short trip and really not worth the $1 you pay for it. It's still a zoo and kids will love it. more
