Expensive and poor service 5/1/2009

My grandmother insists on taking her car here because it is in her neighborhood. Unfortunately, they are constantly charging her for "fixing" problems that don't end up fixed. I once took my Grandmother's car in for a brake issue and they insisted that the plastic hubcaps were making the noise, and replaced them for about $100. Guess what? Wasn't the hubcabs, but the brakes like I mentioned when I brought the car in. Still she was charged, and they told me that they would no longer talk to me about the car when I questioned them charging her for something that was complelely useless, their mistake and didn't solve the problem. Also, I think their prices are high in general, I was quoted a price on CV joints that was double what my mechanic would have charged. more

Parents Have Used Them for Years and Love Them 10/26/2005

My parents have been taking their various cars to Hilltop for years and have always received reliable, honest, and fairly priced service. I don't know what makes/models they specialize in but my parents have taken a Honda, Volvo, and Infiniti there so I'd expect they could handle other European makes as well. more

One of the few expensive but honest local mechanics 7/12/2004

These guys win on honesty and personality. The guys and woman -- Julie -- are all real nice and accomodating. They're friendly if albeit a little quirky. What mechanic isn't a little quirky -- after all. I bring my car there instead of the dealership. I expect and receive timely, honest (I think), and modest prices. They definately aren't the cheapest mechanic on the block ....but considering they're one of the only service stations in capital hill -- they're great and I'm glad they're only a few blocks away. more
