Good Neighborhood Watering Hole 3/4/2006

The Hilltop has good bar food, not your average fried food fest, rather healthy options. Strong selection of micro brew beers and foreign brews. The Ahi sandwich and Reuben are both flavorful creations. They have a daily homemade soup. I tried the corn chowder, which was good, but I wasn't particularly impressed. Everything is extremely fresh and good sized portions which will not leave you hungry. I'm not sure if this a good nighttime hangout place to meet new people, but definitely a chill place to kick back and socialize with friends. more

Hilltop Does a Belly Good 5/10/2005

The halibut cakes and fish tacos are my two all time favorites at this local eatery. Everything on the menu goes well with an ice cold beer. You can always catch the current televised sporting event, IF you can get a seat! The place has been packed everytime I have been there. The no smoking atmosphere is a welcome relief. more

Queen Anne's Neighborhood Pub 4/19/2005

A sibling of the 74th Street and Columbia City Ale Houses, you'll find a much more interesting menu here than typically associated with "pub fare." The chicken sandwich, always a staple, was given the "Best of Seattle" award by one of our local publications, and I can see how it earned high praise. Other fixtures include amazing fish tacos and Jambalaya that's definitely spicy enough to cure what ales 'ya...I know, pardon the pun. Check the chalkboard to see what catch of the day is jammed into those monster fish tacos. Beer selection is generous with a few regular showings, yet plenty of rotating taps to keep the menu fresh. Service has been somewhat inconsistent at times, but on balance is pretty good and quite knowledgeable when looking for a beverage recommendation. Lastly, watch out for weekend nights or during Sonics/M's games when it can get a little crowded. more

  • In Short
This is where people go for a brew and a meal, but the usual burgers and pizza won't do. Expect pub fare like baked goat cheese salad and Hilltop Halibut Cakes with sake-citrus sauce. While the menu here doesn't track 74th Street Ale House's precisely, the two places share many items, including gumbo and a signature chicken sandwich.
