reliable fare, though a little pricey 9/7/2006

This place seems to remain a consistent eatery throughout the years. It's a chain in the city with american fare, covers pretty much all ranges of soups, salads, burgers, chicken, meat and fish, as well as vegetarian - pretty much anyone can find something they will like here. Best part, not to be missed, is the Spinach dip - served warm with tortilla chips, sour cream and salsa - you could just eat this all night long! It may be fattening, but who cares, it is so great! Service is pretty good. Worst part is there is usually an enormous wait for a table, but they do have a decent-sized bar. more

good ribs 12/29/2005

A classy chain for sure. The food is high quality. The service polished. The only problem is the wait. You often have to hang out for a table, but you can head upstairs to the bookstore to pass the time. You are missing out if you don't order the spinach dip to start!! more

Great Food 6/21/2005

The Houston's in midtown is one of my favorite dinner spots. Even though it's part of a chain it's still great. The burger is the best I've had in the city (jg melon and norma's included). There's usually a pretty long wait so it might be a good idea to get there early, put your name down, and go to the barnes and nobles upstairs more

  • In Short
Burnished brass and stained wood complement roughly mortared brick and the occasional plant. Amid ubiquitous earth tones, corporate types and small parties (celebrating or simply living large) occupy deep booths done up in fine upholstery and lit from above by pin spotlights. Burgers, prime rib and steaks are the specialties of the house, but the menu also includes salmon, salads, pork chops and roasted chicken.
