Your better off going to Home Depot or Lowes. Tried to return something the very next day as I didn't need it. Denied it saying the product had been out of the package. Not a loc...

Classic hardware store 8/20/2009

I have been going to Hillsboro Hardware for over 20 years. The part of the experience that I value the most is being able to walk in and quickly get help from somebody who knows what they are doing. They have a full stock of normal hardware-type items. You could probably get it cheaper at Lowes, but the service and convenience is worth paying a little extra. I appreciate that they have stayed in the neighborhood for so long and made it possible from people in the community to shop locally. Also, the laid-back 60's/70's atmosphere is fun and the staff has a sense of humor. By the way, there is usually plenty of parking if you take the drive to the parking lot behind the store. That also avoids the necessity of backing out from the small front lot into heavy traffic. Pros: Cool atmosphere, knowledgeable service Cons: sometimes hard to make the turn into the parking lot more

Everything a Hardware Store Should Be 3/4/2008

This is a family establishment I believe. There are three brothers who are all knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They are always there to greet you when you walk in, You would not believe how much they have in such a small space. They are definitely my first stop for all my hardware needs. I will grudgingly go to Home Depot or Lowe's if they aren't open (nights and Sundays) Pros: Friendly, service, value Cons: Twenty first Ave traffic can make it difficult to get in, and parking is limited. more

Friendly hardware store 7/24/2005

Hillsboro Hardware is located down the street from Hillsboro Village. When you walk in, you get the feel of a small town, old-fashioned hardware store. They have everything you need and everything you could get at any of the national chains. The difference is, at Hillsboro Hardware, you get that one-on-one personal attention and if you are a frequent visitor, they will know you by name. more

Small town service in the city 5/17/2005

Hillsboro Hardware is a delightful neighborhood alternative to the big box stores. Here, youll never wander around for a half hour just looking for one little thingamajig. The staff is always friendly and accessible, and theyll know in an instant where to find that hammer, saw, or socket wrench that youre needing. Best of all is the worn wooden floor that the staff promises never to cover up, and the cartoons located underneath the plexiglass countertop at the cashiers station. Theres also a small bulletin board located near the door, should you happen to be needing a plumber, electrician, or other handy sort of professional. more
