A truly GREAT family memory! 5/27/2010

My father took all of us kids and our families a couple of weekends ago for a ride on the Hill Country Flyer. Our children range from 18 months to 10 years, and ALL of them had a blast! We rode in the Club cars (no A/C) so we could get that authentic experience. It was so neat being able to get up and walk around and look out of the windows, truly a VERY unique memory that the kids will remember for the rest of their lives. The adults are planning another trip on one of the night rides in the near future. My son is a devoted video game junky, NOT ONCE did he complain about not having any games there to play. That is HUGE for him and it says a lot for the experience. The volunteers were awesome and very willing to give some history lessons about the flyer and steam trains in general. I would totally recommend this as a very unique family experience. I think my Dad is STILL smiling! Pros: A very unique experience! Cons: Pricey- but fun :) more

Don't do it! 10/22/2008

It's boring, over priced, one of the employees was very rude, they messed up our seats, they left Cedar Park late, you don't get enough time in Burnet. We had to run eat and run back, it made for a very stressful lunch hour. The kids were bored and complained for 5 hours. For what you spend on this ride you are better off taking the family and your money and heading to the zoo or sea world, etc. I do not recommend it. I wish I had checked the reviews before we spent the money and wasted our Saturday. Pros: Good time for a nap! Cons: Everything about it! more

Not worth the price. Staff was unfriendly. Good for people with younger children. 4/20/2008

Incredibly Disappointed by New Years Eve Twilight Flier - December 31, 2006 11/29/2007

My husband and I took the Flier last New Year's Ever, December 31, 2006. The only two positive remarks that we have about the trip are that the food was tasty and the volunteers who ran the bar and services were very polite. more
