Editorial review from Citysearch 2/18/2014

I took my dog for shots and ended up getting charged for unnecessary and unwanted tests. These tests were not performed and I demanded my money back but they refused. I called their office several times and went to their office in person were I was treated very disrespectfully and the receptionist screamed at me telling me they do NOT issue refunds. So they kept my money and refused to perform the tests when I said I did not want the unnecessary tests. I was charged almost two hundred dollars !!! more

Worst Animal Hospital 8/12/2010

I will never take another of my animals to this butcher. My cat got hit by a car around 8 in the morning and i immediately took him to HPAH. They said the doctor would see him soon. They put him in a cage. I told them he could be bleeding internally, or something could be broken, they told me don't worry. I went to work. By 3 P.M. the quack doctor still had not even LOOKED at my cat in the cage and i immediately left work. By the time i got there, the "doctor" told me he was bleeding internally and had a broken hip. My cat sat in a cage by himself suffering all day while no one did anything to help him. I told him to Frazer Animal Hospital because I heard you could make payments there and i knew he needed help. I drove him there and my cat was in and out of consciousness the whole time. Frazer Animal Hospital put his hip together and even lowered the price because i couldn't pay it all. I am warning everyone with a pet to stay away from the HPAH. My cat was near death when i finally came to pick him up. He let that cat lie in that cage all day suffering. If i could I would have that place closed. Then he tried to charge me for his services. I now go to Bywood Animal Hospital, Dr. Kapolka, who treats my pets with respect and sees them right away when you bring them in. more

If you care for your pets, don't take them to Highland Park. Worst Experience with a Vet 10/18/2008

This was the wost experience with a vets office I could ever imagine. Our 6 year old long-haired cat was not feeling well and vomitting. So we took him to Highland Park Animal Hospital for an exam. The Vet quoted 1 price for lab work and then he administered a host of other unrequested services, including grooming, yearly shots which were due, etc. But the cat was sick with vomitting and diarreha so I am not sure why they would provide the shots at the same time while diagnosing the sickness. Then my cat was sedated for the grooming, all without even a phone call for approval to provide any additional services. In the end they racked up charges close to $400 and threatened to keep my cat until we could pay the bill. They found nothing wrong with the cat from the lab work or the stool sample. And now my cat still has the same symptons. Needless to say, we have switched to Township Line's services and will Never go back to Highland Park - Dr. Andrew Cleland, Carol, and their new ignorant receptionist who knows absolutely nothing have been absolutely horrible. Don't trust your family friend's care to these unfeeling people. All they are concerned about is the $$$. Cons: They don't return phon calls, administer unapproved services, uncaring more

Not a compasionate vet 6/13/2007

We brought our 14 year old very sick dog in to Highland Animal Hospital. When we called Monday morning we were told to bring him in right away and the vet would fit him in. We arrived at the vet and were told the vet was busy and the dog would have to wait in hospital wing by himself in a cage. The vet would call us when he could see him. 2 hours later and no word from the vet we called him and were told very abruptly that our dog of 14 years had died by himself in a cage. When the vet finally got around to seeing him he was dead. Our dog should have been seen right away and put out of his misery. We also just recently learned that we would need to pay the vet $40.00 on top of disposal fees for the priveledge of allowing our dog to die in his cage. If you are looking for A COMPASIONATE vet this is not the place to go. more
