Hendler Karl Properties Tarrytown Branch

As both an undergrad and graduate student at UT I have had quite a bit of experience with renting in the campus area and Karl Hendler was by far my worst experience. He is the only property manager I have used that I would NOT recommend. He responded abrasively to maintenance requests. Once he called me a ""weak American"" when I asked that he fix our AC after it broke for the second time in the middle of the summer! He was also extremely difficult to get the deposit back from and took deductions for wear and tear that that was there when we moved into the apartment. When I tried to point this out using the move-in inspection sheet I had filled out, he threatened me with a law suit and called me a bad person surrounded by a ""dark cloud."" While I liked the apartment and it was convenient to campus, the stress of dealing with Karl far outweighed any positives for me. more

My family has been renting from Karl Hendler for five years. He has been a blessing in disguise. His compassion for every aspect of life astounds me as it filters into his business. His attention to the details of his properties provides you with living conditions worth paying for. Maintaining his properties is something he prides himself on and he is responsive to any maintenance need. He is has been nothing but respectful of what I want in a living environment and has found me two wonderful properties to rent based on my very specific criteria. I have an immense amount of respect for him, admire his energy and enjoy his perspective on life. I highly recommend him. more

Karl Hendler is a dream landlord and property manager. KHP manages many, many properties in Austin, and I hope that the untruths being posted on CitySearch soon disappear. Will keep your deposit, will screw you over and charge you for basic repairs, if they ever get done at all, terrible landlord. Didnt know people like this still exist. I am still stuck in his shit hole, so I have to be anonymous for my own protection, otherwise he would figure out a way to kick me out or something. Claims to be a great guy, will chew u up and spit u out when he is finished. I see the other reviews and I know Im not alone!! How do people stay in business who are this way?? Any positive reviews on this site were probably made by Karl or one of his friends. No one who has rented from him would say anything nice about him and they surely wouldn't go on and on about how great he is. He is crazy and complains and yells at you when you need basic repairs. He cons people and is a liar. The absolute worst property manager I have ever dealt with, and I don't wish his services on anyone. more

I agree with JaneDoe - I have NEVER had to deal with such a TERRIBLE landlord as him. People like this make me wonder if I should be recording EVERYTHING in my life to make sure they won't try to steal something from me. He lies. He is the dictionary definition of a sociopath. This guy is absolutely INSANE. Do NOT rent from him. There is something seriously wrong with him. He is a liar, a thi*f, a creep. And don't think for a second that you will get your deposit back from him. He will find every possible way to get out of giving you your money back. In my 4 years in college, I have never had an apartment this nice and I have NEVER had a landlord that works as hard and is as dedicated as Karl. He takes personal responsibility of his properties and especially his tenants, and will immediately respond to any problem that you may have. The reviews that say Karl only cares about money are complete lies. What he does care about are his tenants, and he has shown me nothing but the upmost respect for my needs and rights. If you are looking for a landlord that doesn't tolerate BS in order to maintain a quiet, peaceful and professional atmosphere, call Karl. Karl I thank you. more

My experience with Karl Hendler has been none other than positive. It bothers me to see what other people have written about him. He is a man of dedication and works extremely hard. He is very personable with his tenants which is an advantage to all of us because he is very reasonable. We all have to understand that real estate is a complicated field where people are hard to please. Karl does everything he can to help his tenants. Karl is a man of his word and does his job with his heart. Each time I have dealt with Karl, he has not only helped me tremendously as my landlord, he has shown me a piece of himself as a person. Preservation square is close to campus and doesn't have the feel of a high rise apartment. very homey environment. alarm system in unit i lived in. repairs were slow to get done. land lord works with you on a personal one on one basis. Karl is most easily reached by email. Pros: close to UT more
