William's treatment killed my cat 9/4/2010

I went to Dr. Williams because my beautiful cat Sam was having problems with urination outside of the litter box. Dr. Williams suggested I give the cat valium and antibiotics and see what happens. His directions were a half 5mg. valium morning and afternoon. I thought this was too much for a 9lb. animal and ignored his directions and gave him a quarter of a pill after the first day. Within 5 days my sweet Sam urinated and sat in the urine was sounding like he couldn't breath easily. I rushed him to the emergency room on 610, and the doctor knew immediately what was happening when she looked at the prescriptions from Williams. She said vets no longer prescribe valium to felines because some cats die from it, which mine did. She was very upset about the situation.\r \r The questions is, why is he so uniformed about his profession. BEWARE of this vet. To add insult to injury, the emergency room vet faxed him the test results and report that read ""complete liver failure due to valium"", and he did not have the decency to call me and apologize or offer condolences. more

THE BEST DOCTOR 9/27/2009

I LOVE THIS OFFICE. I HAVE BEEN GOING SINCE I WAS LIKE 19 YRS OLD. I ALWAYS TAKEN MY DOGS TO DR. HENDRIX OFFICE. THE RECEPTIONIST MAGGIE IS ALWAYS KIND AND FRIENDLY AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE CREW. I BEEN KNOWING THEM FOR A VERY LONG TIME.\r \r I HAD AN INCIDENT WHERE I TOOK MY DOGS' PUPPIES TO GET CHECKED AT AN AFFORDABLE CLINIC AND THEY ALL DIE DUE TO OVERDOSED MEDICINE ON THE PUPPIES. I THEN WENT TO THIS OFFICE AND ONE OF THE DOCTORS EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM. I HAD TOOK SOME OF THE MEDICINE THE OTHER DOCTOR AT THE OTHER OFFICE GAVE ME AND SAID IT WAS TOO MUCH FOR THE PUPPIES.TO THIS DAY I LOVE ALL THE SERVICES THEY GIVE. I DO RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE. I LIVE FAR CLOSE TO GREENS ROAD AND I WILL STILL GO TO MY VET.\r \r TO THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING A BAD OFFICE, THATS WHY YOU ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU DO THINGS. I HAVE NEVER HAD NO PROBLEM WHEN I ASKED QUESTIONS. \r \r THANKS GUYZ!!!!!!!! Pros: LOVE THE STAFF Cons: LIVE FAR more

Worst vet clinic EVER! 8/7/2009

I have never received such horrible vet care in my entire life, and not just one time, several times. This vet clinic is a joke. That's too bad considering it came highly reccomended by several people I know. I'm not sure what kind of service and care they expect for their animals but I expect alot, regardless of cost.\r These idiot vets & techs diagnosed my dog with distemper. They didn't do testing to rule out other possible issues, just looked at her and said she had it. They sent me home THREE times with my dog with an extremely high temp (106) and said to ""give her fluids"". How do you give a sick dog fluids when it refuses to drink? On the third visit I literally DEMANDED that they give her an IV or provide another solution. Finally they told me about sub-q injections, FINALLY. Then, they rushed me out like we had the plague.\r I took her to another vet for (quality) help and to someone who would actually care enough to answer my questions and gie me some real help. This vet said she might only have a minor flu and NOT distemper. The new vet (Westbury) did bloodwork for in-depth testing and a chest x-ray. Heights never even offered these options. They hussled me around the clinic thre times and sent me away with meds each time, none of which helped. It was a complete fiasco. Even the people who work the front desk are unknowledgeable and rude.\r \r I swear - I will never EVER take any of my animals there again. I still cannot believe they give such poor quality service. And I say that b/c I have seen all THREE of their shotty vets and they are all terrible. It's sad to think how many animals and customers who have not received quality care from this ridiculous place.\r \r DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! more

always had a great experience 7/23/2009

I lived in the Heights for a while and always took my dog to the Heights Veterinary Clinic. I like their no appointments policy because I could always be seen quickly, and not have to wait half a day or longer & take off work to get my dog seen. The Dr. was always very friendly, as well as the techs. He talked to me, and worked with me to find the right meds for my dogs allergy problems, and didn't require me to bring him back in for a new refills every time. I never had anything seriously wrong with my dog (luckily) so I cannot testify to how they handle that, and I always went first thing in the morning. I've learned that many places are far different late in the afternoon vs. early morning. I wish I could still take my dog here, they were always very good to me and easy on my pocketbook. Pros: inexpensive, easy to be seen, always checked up Cons: I live too far away to go anymore more

very good vet 6/23/2009

Every time I have taken my dog there, I have received very professional service. The staff is friendly and helpful. The vet is great. I would recommend to anyone. Pros: friendly staff, attentive vet more

Best Vet, don't listen to others. 6/15/2009

I work in the animal industry, so I know animal healthcare like the back of my hand. I have tried the cheap places(Low Cost Pet Clinic), the expensive places (Pet Vet), and have always gone back here. The staff at the front can be a bit ditzy (write a mixed breed dog in, when you write the whole name of the breed out).. But Dr. Williams and Hendrix have been excellent when we have used them for our dogs. They always give thorough care. Dr. Williams walked in and took ONE look at my dog and knew exactly his ailment. Someone on here repeatedly spreads libel about the clinic, regarding their wonderful dachshund. Dr. Hendrix has cared for my dachshund before and never made a mistake. And I know others who's dogs have been saved by the quick thinking of the vets at this facility. Pets don't die because of the vets, they die because of stupidity by the owners, bad breeding, or natural/contagious disease (again on the part of the owners for not giving preventative care). Don't listen to that fool who keeps saying the stuff she or he says. The only thing is they can be a bit expensive, but not that much more than others. If this place was SO horrible they would have handed me the prescription for the heart worm preventative so I can get it online. But they refused. Why? Because those places are in trouble and they are obeying the LAW, unlike this other libel spreading person. I have been using Heights for years now and have gone other places. As an animal sciences professional they have earned my seal of approval. Pros: Great all around more

WORST VET IN HOUSTON 5/20/2009

The doctors are idiots - they don't care about your pets and they are so poorly organized they can't even make appointments. \r \r All they care about is prescribing this or that to get you out the door as fast as possible. \r \r more

Love the Drs and Staff 4/24/2009

I have used this vet off and on for over 26 years. I've tried other vets closer to home and they just don't compare to the VETs here. Will never change VETS again. I'd drive cross country to use Heights Vet Clinic Pros: Best VETs and VET staff in town Cons: Only con is quite a drive from home... more

Poor treatment 11/24/2008

I had the misfortune of losing a cat recently. She was a beautiful outdoor kitty that my neighbor had and I instantly became her new ""friend"". She was attacked by a pack of dogs while trying to protect her kitten. She was rushed to Heights Vet Clinic. They told us she would lose her tail, but would be fine. A few hours later, they told us she had died. No explanation, she simply died. They filled her little body with fluids and had her packed in a box. It was horrible experience. \r \r Her kitten was unharmed, but the father of the kitten was also attacked. She had part of his jaw bitten off and had to undergo extensive surgery. We had to take him to another vet and he was fine. The vets were so insensitive about the matter. \r Pros: Nothing Cons: Poor treatment more

OUR DACHSHUND DIED BECAUSE OF THEM!!!!!! 9/10/2008

Our beloved family dachshund was taken here for vet care for some time. He never had any problems and was always taken in for his annual checkups. He lived with my elderly parents. Back in May of 2007, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. The vet was very hands off and never really monitored his dosage and didn't give them detailed information on what to look for in terms of warning signals. As a result our beloved ""Gentleman"" died two months later. My dashchund was diagnosed with the same thing back in May of this year, but because my vet is ""board certified"" and knows what he's doing, my dog has adjusted to living with this condition with medication and is doing fine. My heart aches to know that if only we had taken Gentleman to a vet that knew what he was doing, he'd still be with us. If you really care about the welfare of your pet, please don't take your pet to Height Vet Clinic. more

Nice vet and very thorough 9/2/2008

I saw some bad reviews about this veterinary office before, but I still took a chance and I thought that the vets were very nice and caring. The vet recommended a new food for my dog's bad hips/knees and it's worked very well. Also, they cleaned her teeth and removed some moles. Not only did they remove the moles that I requested, but they removed the moles all over her body saved a big scary one for biopsy later. The price was very reasonable. I will be going back. This clinic is a high turn-over business and they're always, always busy, so I think you have to take that into consideration when you go... Pros: service/vets and price Cons: busy more

Very caring staff 6/9/2008

When we took our 15 yr old beloved family dog to this clinic as a ""walk in"" to have her put down, the staff was very respectful (they gave us a private room for our family to grieve and say our goodbyes) and very compassionate to the situation. The vet expressed his sorrow and understanding and the vet tech stayed with us (and brought us tissues). The front desk staff brought the paperwork to us (instead of making us do everything at the counter). They were top notch and considering the circumstance, it was a good experience. These people seem to really care about the animals and owners. BTW - our regular vet could not ""see us"" until tomorrow. When your dog hasn't eaten in 3 days and is so weak, the last thing you want to hear is we can't ""see you"" until tomorrow. Heights Vet Clinic will be our new vet when we get another dog! more

Best vet clinic in town 12/8/2007

I've been with this clinic since 1996 [about], through 5 dogs and have NEVER experienced what reviewer ""heights regular"" described. The vets and all their staff have been caring, attentive, crying with me through the loss of my 3 older dogs and laughing with me at the antics of my now older corgi and young German Shepherd. I moved out of Houston to a semi-remote location and price compared to the closest 2 vet locations, one was $100 more and the other $75 more. It is worth it to me to drive into Houston to have this caring group care for my animals - even had they been higher, I would have stayed with them. Frankly, I have a hard time buying all the negativity that stems from that review. Mistakes occur to be sure - we are all human and even the tiniest almost imperceptible -even if only one- heartworm means treatment is needed. I wonder what the condition of that dog is now and whether there was in fact a heartworm problem. Oh well- we all have different perspectives and I am thouroughly and completely pleased with this clinic. more

Worse than being at a human doctor's office 7/10/2007

I took my dog here. They told me she tested positive for heartworm and that she needed to undergo a ton of pills and be kept kenneled.\r \r I went and got a 2nd opinion. They said she didn't have any heartworms at all.\r \r It's been about 3 years since my terrible visit to this place and my dog never underwent the needless narcotic rehab or kennelling.\r \r If you ask me, it's the staff that need to be kennelled. There was only one butch looking woman who was the kindest of the bunch. They were all rude, gruff and insensitive. I felt they were yelling at me to 'go into this room, go into that room, move your dog, etc...' \r \r I won't go back. \r \r I figured I'd get more customer service out of a private clinic but nope. Wrong again. I shouldn't have strayed from SNAP where they cuddle my dogs and take the time to be huggie kissie to them and sing to them. So sweet. Pros: they got a star out of me Cons: they didn't deserve a star out of me more
