Dining again disappointing. Atmosphere great as always, wait staff very good, food not worth the money. I had the rib-eye, had to send it back for a new cut. Too much grissle and fat. My wife had the white salmon, lacked any flavor, needed a lot of seasoning. This is the 2nd time in 2 that we have been disappointed. Won't go back, too bad we really liked it there. more

Best Duck Confit Ever!! Also, what an interesting place due to its historic connections. Food and service was excellent. Mid-price range for a fine dining experience. Quaint place just outside of Mukwonago. more

Quaint and delicious 3/24/2008

What a quaint restaurant! Whether you're a steak or seafood lover, Heaven City offers the best of both. I was pleased with the variety of options on the menu as well as the service. Both the food and service were outstanding and the dessert menu was so fabulous it was hard to make a choice. We'll definitely be back! Pros: great menu! more

Absolutely fabulous! 2/24/2008

This past Saturday night my husband and I dined at Heaven City for the first time on a long-awaited night out at a fancy restaurant. It was incredible! Friends of ours have always raved about the place and now we know why! I had the wild mushroom and cheese appetizer that was amazing and my husband raved about his sea scallops (I'm not a fan of scallops but he said they were perfect). For dinner I had the Filet Oscar that was done a perfect ""medium"" and my husband had the Sea Bass. Both of our entrees were beyond fabulous and we definitely got what we paid for! We split a warm apple tart for dessert and that was a perfect way to end our heavenly meal. The restaurant name is very fitting. If you've never been there you don't know what you're missing! Friendly servers, warm and cozy atmosphere and gourmet food that you'd never think you'd find in Mukwonago!! Pros: servers were friendly and very attentive more

Would Not Call It Heaven 12/14/2007

The food was ok. The service was horrible. At the bar my husband had to fix the cash drawer. We ordered an appetizer. It was served to the table next to us. When I inquired the food expediter in a glib and rude manner told me they had ordered it. The table next to us then said that they had not ordered anything yet and offered to give us our appetizer off their table. We mentioned this to the server who just shrugged. A young boy brought our bread and asked us where he should put it. We ordered. My husband and I ordered the same thing. My mom ordered something different. When the food came it sat out on a tray for 10 minutes. When the waitress returned, in a hash slinging manner she asked us, "" who had the ....."" We then had to take the plate from her. She had a 2/3rds chance of getting it right. My mom's meal was prepared wrong. Her soup was served after the meal arrived. For the prices charged, the staff should be trained in fine dining. I've received better service at a family breakfast joint. Bottom line. We've been given a gift certificate that we would rather NOT spend on another experience there. Would NOT recommend. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service more

Enjoy a slice of Heaven 1/9/2007

My wife and I have been to Heaven City on many occasions through the years. We were sadly dissappointed when they closed their doors. We heard that the beautiful retaurant had reopened under new ownership and were delighted to try it out. Boy, were we glad we did. It was better than any experience we had ever had. (At any restaurant!) The ambiance of Heaven City is worth coming for alone. The service was timely and accommodating. Our waiter was very knowledgable and helpful. The food was brilliantly presented and tasted even better! The Braised Pork Shank was delicious, and the Raspberry Veloute dessert was unbelievable. The experience truly made us feel like we had died and gone to, ""HEAVEN!"" Pros: Martini List, Great Selection of Wine, Exceptional Service, Delicious Food Cons: Not open on Sundays or Mondays more

The New Heaven City 7/26/2005

The new owners of Heaven City, Jim & Julie, have done an outstanding job keeping up the high quality that H.C. is known for. The meals are incredible, the live music is wonderful and I love the new outdoor patio. It's a great place to enjoy a cocktail or have lunch. I've never had a bad experience there and I go quite often (lots of new menu items to try!!!) I loved the Ahi Tuna. Pros: beautifully decorated, ghost stories, outdoor patio Cons: no half portions more

Best of the Best 7/18/2004

Probably the best dining experience ever. Tapas Tuesday w/live spanish guitar and the Friday Fish ""try"" are incredible. The Whitewater Salmon is the most inspiring dish ever - the door county cherry souffle is a must as is the warm apple tart!!! You'll be in awe at the portion sizes. The mushroom brie tart is another must have!! You honestly won't find anything on the menu that isn't incredibly exquisite. Impeccable service too. Pros: Gorgeous setting, Good Parking, Easy to find more

What could be better? 3/2/2004

I noticed another review title called ""worth the drive""...that is the absolute truth. The owners of this charming ""destination restaurant"" are both delightful and talented. Chef Scott McGlinchey whips up seasonally inspired masterpieces, and each item on the well-manicured menu is paired with a wine that perfectly compliments the dish (torn between a couple of wine choices, and you can be rest assured that the exceptional wait staff will likely bring over a sample of each). Also, tapas Tuesdays are not to be missed. Pros: Romantic, No Children!, Wonderful Ambiance more

Best Meal Ever 5/15/2003

I have enjoyed 2 of the best meals of my life at Heaven City. The atmosphere is beyond charming, the service beyond reproach and the food beyond believably good. more

Worth the drive 12/29/2002

Heaven City is worth the drive from the city. Tucked away in an old hotel/brothel/mob hideout that still retains its 40s ambience and charm, Heaven City is a unique dining experience. Terrific regional specialties and service are highlights. Or, for a unique experience, visit on Tuesday nights for Tapas nights to sample many unique appetizers! Pros: Ambience, Unique Menu, Quality more

Heaven 7/26/2002
