Juvin Salon 12/20/2006

I been to this new salon once and was surprise to find that they had Aveda products. They also carried OnlyYOurX products too, which I find very cool. They have a great selection, which was what I needed for Christmas... :-)) -NL more

good job 9/27/2005

Great job done by Jonathon of HEAT salon. He did exactly what i wanted and was very nice. We had nice conversational talk, but he wasn't too pushy to chat.. like some stylists can be. He worked well with me by constantly asking me if it was what i wanted along the process of my cut and color. Only reason it wasn't GREAT was because it's a bit pricey, but well worth it if you can afford it. more

Heat Salon is worth the money! 7/13/2005

I go to Heat because Missy works there! Missy is a fantastic hair stylist. I've never been disappointed with anything she's done. She even gave me great bangs! And she's fun to work with. The rest of the staff seems to be nice. They don't have the most "HI HOW ARE YOU? CAN I HELP YOU?" vibe. I'm used to upscale salons though and the slightly snobby attitude they come with. I highly recommend Missy. Shes taken me from a red head to a blond and back. The rest of the staff always seems to be helpful when people walk in asking for help in selecting products. Its best to make an appointment. Walk ins seem like they have to wait at certain times. Go to heat! Its not cheap, but it's worth it! more

amazing 7/12/2005

I have tried Heat Salon serveral times and have had nothing but great experences. The whole staff is well educated and they carry great products like bumble and kerastase. I got an amazing cut for 60 bucks which i used to get an ok cut at another salon in santa cruz for 75. I have recommended heat to my friends and family and they all love it too. Try them out and see for your self more

Self-Important and Expensive 6/30/2005

I've have been to JMS/Heat 6 times in the past 2 years. The last time was 5 weeks ago for a hair cut with Maria; she was friendly and attentive. The cut was a bit rushed at the end since we had had such a grand time chatting during the process and another client came in. I was told I could come back by the end of the week to get a touchup, but did not figure out the problem until the beginning of the next week, so I fixed it myself (as I have done on other occasions after getting my hair cut there). In contrast, when Lisa cut my hair I ask her to trim just a bit more to get it just as I like it (which is what I pay a "stylist" to do) and when she thought I wasn't looking, she actually rolled her eyes in exasperation! I had an appointment today for a bang trim. Granted, I was between 1 and 4 minutes late, but I wasn't told until I got there that I had been "double-booked" with someone else's hair coloring and was asked to wait 20 minutes. I also went there because I had been over-charged on my credit card bill. I received a refund with no hassle. But I had to go back to work, so I left without saying anything further. They called me an hour and a half (!) after my appointment to ask if I knew my appointment was today. I explained that I had been there and they had been busy. She asked if I'd like to reschedule. I said, "no thank you." She said "OK" and hung up (!) on me. They act like they're doing you a favor by letting you come see them and their services are EXPENSIVE. I won't go back; there are TONS of other salons in town. If you don't mind paying $70 for a haircut and tip and don't care how they treat you, or even exactly how your hair looks, be my guest. more

Heat had never let me down 6/28/2005

But I always make an appointment. Their stylists are the best around. I'm very picky about how my hair looks and they work with me very well. They are very expensive however. more

Poor service 6/19/2005

After having seen my friend's cute haircut, I made myself an appointment with Heat (or JMS as it was formerly called). I asked them if they took walk-ins and they said yes. They told me it would be about a half hour and I shopped in town during that time. When I came back, they still were not ready and I waited in the seats available. I was given dirty looks and attitudes when I asked them how long it would take. A minute later, a friend or relative walked in and asked to be seen and was immediately taken to get their haircut. I waited for over an hour and was never seen. Finally, I just left without saying a word. more
