I had the privilege of visiting the Heard during the Native American Craft Fair in early March. Visiting the museum and seeing the exquisite artifacts gave me a true picture of N...

Wonderful Museum 12/29/2005

I think that the Heard Museum is a great place to learn about what Arizona is all about. The rich history and heritage that it has to offer. While others are commenting on the Musuem as more of a reception location. I will comment on what it really has to offer as a Museum. This Museum offers a lot of wonderful visual exhibits that are both educating as well as interesting. The exhibits are set up to make you WANT to learn more! Some of the exhibits are so intriguing that I have left researching more about Native American heritage. Recently they have added some new and "modern" type of exhibites. There is a small theatre room where a film is played throughout the day that gives a quick small portion of Native American history. I was also pleased to see a demonstration on Native American cooking, It was very exciting to learn more about it as if it were an expensive delicacy , or learning how to cook like an Italian. While the cost of admission is somewhat high I can understand the need for such an admission to making sure it brings wonderful new exhibits to it's consumers. I was also happy to see that a museum about Native Americans is free to Native Americans. Now it looks like all that is left is to allow Native Americans to run a Native American Musuem which is run by Anglo-americans. The Heard Museum does an amazing job at giving a peek into the history and heritage of Arizona. more

Great place to learn about Native American culture 11/11/2005

The Heard Museum is a wonderful place to learn about the Native American culture. The Native American population has a significant place in Arizona's cultural history. The Heard Museum provides an outlet for learning and exploring this interesting culture. The adults will remain interested and the older children won't get bored that easily, it is worth a look! more

Lovely One-Stop Museum 9/27/2005

This is quite the enjoyable museum for an afternoon of fun, and you learn stuff, as well. It is designed excellently, and I was not bored at all throughout the entire building. The individual displays are extremely creative and well thought out, and the artifacts are really cool. It's a fun place. more

Native American Museum 8/20/2005

This is a small museum located in downtown Phoenix and has a wide selection of rare and beautiful Native American art and artifacts. They also have a good children’s section, with hands on activities and displays. The grounds are very nice and they also do special events such as weddings and corporate events. However, it is somewhat expensive. more

Great place but pricey for reception spot 8/5/2005

We checked this place out to possibly host our wedding reception. The grounds are gorgeous and there are lots of places on the grounds that would be suitable for a reception or full blown wedding. They rent out the whole place to you when you do it and you find out later why - you will pay an arm and a leg and no catering or anything is included. Nice setting, but if you have a budget look elsewhere. more
