Best Massage Ever 12/7/2011

I just got back from another fabulous massage at Haven Spa with Lara. I had been seeing a Physical Therapist for pain and restricted movement in my shoulder and not improving. I thought I would try a massage and lucked out. Haven is a wonderful relaxing place and Lara absolutely knows what she is doing. MY shoulder is perfect and my tight muscles elsewhere are gone. more

Excellent! All my friends go there! 5/12/2011

A little expensive - but good value for money. more

Truly lives up to its name! 4/8/2011

Mariola is a master waxer! I despise shaving, and would just prefer to wax my body head to toe haha. So i'm no stranger to the process, but hadn't found a regular place since i moved to the city two years ago. I scheduled a french bikini with the gourmet wax since I have extremely sensitive skin. Mariola is a no-nonsense but wonderfully friendly esthetician, and while she was performing my service PAINLESSLY, we had a great conversation! She seriously had me out in less than 20 minutes and her work was flawless. I had no discomfort and no irritation afterwards. Haven is a beautiful spa with friendly and incredibly talented staff. I am so happy I found it! more

best mani pedi ! 9/13/2010

Best bikini wax NYC 8/11/2010

I've been coming here for the last 5 years. I totally trust them, they do a great job, and they're really laid back but still professional - they're all genuine people. I have my favorites - Monique and Marta - but I'll go to anyone because I know I'll get the best bikini wax no matter who does it. more

Best Facial in the City 6/14/2010

I have been coming to Haven for waxing and threading for years. They do a great job. I started coming here regularly for a boot camp facial about 7 months ago. Stalina is the best and I highly recommend her!!!! She has helped to transform my skin by recommending products that are suitable for my skin and for the different seasons. She has also customized my moisturizer in order for me to obtain the BEST benefits from each product. The cost of these customized moisturizers are extremely reasonable and last a long time. It has made a world of difference. I am constantly asked by friends and family what I have been doing for my skin!! more

Great place for waxing 1/21/2010

I have been to Haven for waxing of almost every type. I think that some people are better than others, but you need to work out what you like and what's important to you. For example, I prefer one woman for eyebrows and another for bikini waxing. The prices are great, and only once did I have an issue with my service. Having gone dozens of times, this is a great track record. I haven't had any massages, but every time I go, I think about how the experience would be a smidge better with better lighting or some relaxing music, and the walls are pretty thin. So I can understand why the previous reviewer didn't quite enjoy her experience. I definitely recommend for waxing, though. Pros: Price; friendliness more

STOP Slamming Doors 3/3/2009

I needed a nice quite relaxing massage and instead I heard constant slaming of doors for an hour. I was in the room right behind the waiting area and I could hear everything. Some spanish speaking staff members talking in the hallway and I lost count at 20 times, slaming doors. Are you kidding me? Something so simple to fix and nobody ever address this issue? I work the night shift in a hospital and we have a policy of turning the door handle when closing the doors. You don't hear the click of the lock, not a peep. So Haven management, teach your employees a simple rule. No talking and no slamming doors. You are selling peace and quite with your services. If I want noise, I will stay home with my kids. Pros: Underground so away from street noises Cons: They make up for it by slamming doors and talking in the hallway more

Not enough time 2/19/2009

My husband and I came in this past weekend for massages. Yes, we came in 5 minutes late, but then they had us fill out forms, had to wait for the locker room (only 2 co-ed bathrooms and 4 people waiting in line) to change. By the time we layed on the tables, we lost 20 minutes of our 60 minute massage time. My complaint is that the front desk should have told us this once we came in. At least I would have changed my appointment to a 30 minute massage and pay for what I received. Don't just pass us along until the therapist ends the session and we are confused as to why it's so short. For the future, if clients are running late (hello, NYC traffic). Skip the paperwork and don't need to change into a robe. Saving these steps gives the client more time for what we are paying for. Pros: Massage Therapists Cons: Time management from reception staff more

Nothing but the Best 11/16/2008

I have been a client for over two years and enjoy the spa. However, some staff members need to be a little more courteous and helpful. The therapists are fine; it's the desk staff that could use some additional training in professionalism. Although it was a recent bad experience, I'll continue to go because of the therapists and the wonderful cozy atmosphere. Several of my friends and I make a day trip to NYC just to go to this SPA. ENJOY!!! Pros: Beautiful Setting, wonder ambience Cons: Desk Staff more

Great pre-natal massage 11/2/2008

I went here for a pre-natal massage this weekend (am 23 weeks along) and really enjoyed my session with Andrea. They use the prenatal body cushions which allow the mother to lie face down which I'm actually not a big fan of but it worked. If I was further along, it might be a little uncomfortable and I would request a sidelying massage which I'm not sure if they do or not. In any case, my therapist Andrea was extremely attentive and caring and had a fantastic touch. The atmosphere and music are also very conducive to a relaxing experience. The things that kept me from giving the experience 5 stars is the lack of separate dressing rooms for men and women. They have a co-ed locker room and then you have to get changed in the bathroom. Pros: Great ambience, skilled, courteous therapists Cons: Co-ed locker room - have to get changed in the bathroom more

My choice over Bliss Spa 8/8/2008

I have been to both Bliss and Haven and my experience at Haven won. Great fascial by Hana without the hardsell of costly products. My massage with Andrea was longer than the 60 minutes scheduled. You even have the choice of taking a shower afterwards. Although I didn't get a mani/pedi, the room looked small and cozy. Compare that to the noisy and rude experience at Bliss, I will give my patronage to Haven. I have read some of the previous reviews and can understand their opinions, but maybe the stars were in my favor because I cannot wait to go back. Pros: Go on weekdays to avoid the crowds and be unrushed by the staff Cons: Spa is underground so you can hear heels walking above more

Fair prices, although sometimes a little sloppy 6/30/2008

The French and Brazilian waxes are affordable, although on a few occasions the woman I went to dribbled wax onto my thigh and didn't bother to clean it up. Yeah, it sounds minor, until you get home and have to heat a wash cloth to get it (and the hair it's stuck to)off, or else take a long bath. Also, is it sanitary to reuse the sticks? Because I notice that the employees spread the wax-y stick all over unmentionable areas and then dip that stick right back into the same can of wax that the next client will use. Still, I have been going here for years and I think it meets the basic needs. Pros: competent / thorough service, affordable, good location, nice ambience Cons: The receptionsists have attitude, and waxings can be a little hasty more

THE NAME SAYS IT ALL 6/21/2008

I HAVE READ THE OTHER REVIEWS CONCERNING APPEARANCE OF THE SPA AND LOOKS CAN DEFINITELY BE DECEVING. WHILE NOT THE PRETTIEST OR SWANKIEST, THE QUALITY OF THE TREATMENTS IS TOP NOTCH. AS LONG AS THE PLACE IS CLEAN AND I HAVE MY PRIVACY, I DON'T REALLY CARE THAT THE SPACE IS SOMEWHAT OUTDATED. THEY GAVE MY SISTER ONE OF THE BEST MASSAGES SHE HAS EVER HAD AND MY FACIAL WAS WONDERFUL - RELAXING YET EFFECTIVE AT THE SAME TIME (EVEN THE EXTRACTIONS WERE BEARABLE). MY SKIN IS STILL GLOWING. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE OVER BLISS, CORNELIA AND ALL THE OTHER OVERRATED SPAS ANYDAY. YES THEY ARE PRETTIER BUT I HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED IN THE SERVICES THEMSELVES AND THAT IS REALLY WHAT I AM PAYING FOR WHEN I GO TO A SPA. Pros: GREAT PRODUCT LINES, EXPERIENCED STAFF Cons: OUTDATED LOOK TO THE PLACE more

Disappointing 6/16/2008

I was introduced to Haven by a friend. I had heard many good things about the treatments. My waxing was great--but I was taken aback by the conditions. This Soho spa is not in the tip-top shape that one would expect. Dirty hallways...lack of toilet paper...even the waxing room wasn't clean. Pros: Location; quality of services Cons: Lack of neatness more

Pay attention to the details 5/24/2008

I just spent over $200 on servies and I would have given it a five star review if not for the details that Haven doesn't seem to care about. My therapists was great and that's what saved the day. BUT no slippers in the locker room, and my robe had no belt so I had to keep holding on so I would not be exposed. There were empty glasses and a empty cookie plate in the waiting area. So I deducted one star for each infraction. Maybe if they payed attention they will eventually get my 5 star. Pros: My facial and massage Cons: Need better presentation more

Crowded mani/pedi with no conversation 4/7/2008

I use to get my mani/pedi from Roza and loved coming to her. Now nobody there speaks English. No one serving tea or having girl talk that made the time fly by. Avoid going on Saturdays because all of SOHO will be there. Cons: Where is Roza? more

First massage was so good, I had to come back for more. 3/28/2008

If you want a relaxing and slow paced massage, go to Manuel. He made my 60 minute seem like 2 hours. I could not believe how wobbly my legs were afterwards. I have had massages in Vegas, LA, Miami and this was the best. Even better than the $200 at Bellagio. I want to keep him a secret, but my girlfriends are trying him next. Too bad he only works Sundays. Pros: Manuel (ps. he's Asian so don't let the Spanish name fool you) Cons: Only available on Sunday more

great wax - not so great pedi 3/27/2008

Olga was amazing for waxing! Unfortunately that was the best part of my experience. I also went in for the "Renaissance Pedi" which was twice as pricey. The only extra I got as opposed to the regular pedis next to me was overheated booties for 10 minutes. They should revise the description in their menu - no extra massage, harsh lighting/environment, nothing special at all. Next time I pay $70 for a pedi I'm going to Bliss where they always follow their menu. Pros: Great Waxers Cons: no atmosphere for the $$$ more
