Hard Times Cafe 4/10/2006

This nice little place serves some great chili. They have several options depending on what type of chili you prefer – spicy, sweet, etc… You can get your chili loaded with onions and cheese. I like getting mine loaded with these ingredients over pasta. It is a very satisfying meal. This place is located right near the Clarendon metro. more

Hard Times in Arlington 4/5/2006

This is my favorite Hard Times location in the area. I like it because you can park near here and take the Clarendon metro. The food here is as good as the other location nearby but the restaurant seems to have more space. It is easier to sit larger groups here. more

Cincy chili isn't "quite" authentic, but still good! 3/25/2006

Hard Times is a great little chili place and the free cornbread is good enough to make me crave it every couple of months! When you first visit, make sure to request the sampler where you can test the 4 different types of chili. Beware Cincinnatians - the Cincinnati chili isn't exactly Skyline chili, but it's still quite good and you can get it 3-way style! more

Hard Times 3/20/2006

Hard Times is a national chain but they make some amazing chili. They have 4 different kinds, which are all tasty. My favorite is the Texas style chili. It has a nice kick. Make sure to get your chili loaded with all the great toppings. If you don’t like chili they even have decent burgers and other items. more

down home chili, convenient and cheap! 10/13/2005

Hard Times Café is located right across the street from the clarendon metro exit. It’s got many variety of chili, and they’re all uniformly good and tasty, if a bit greasy and grubby at the same time! If you’re in the mood for a big steaming bowl. I’d highly recommend trying Hard Times at least once! more

If you love chili then this is the place you have to try Hard Times at least once. There are several styles to choose from and many different heats of sauces to go with your favorites. The menu is very down to earth with varieties of hearty salads, chicken sandwiches, burgers, of course chili dogs, and filling appetizers. The setting is comfortably meager with plenty of window space and located convenient to the local Metro station. more

You get plenty of food for your money. The atmosphere is something that is excellent as well. It's a great place to go if you're in the mood for chili. ' I would also recommend you try their onion rings. They'll spoil you for life. more
