Great chocolate cake! I am a chocolate lover cake and let me tell you guys hansens has the best moist chocolate cake ive ever had. I was on my way to the grove and I seen hansens was literally on fairfax ave. so I droped by to see whats this famous cake place about =). So I walked in and the sales staff came to me with a whole tray of samples.....""oh boy was I in heaven"" all the samples were delicious literally to die for!!!!!!!! I tried every sample I could put my hands on. They were all good, but chocolate was my top favorite. I literally went to the bakery side where they have premade cakes and cupcakes and I bought some to take home. My family loved there cakes and there cupcakes. YOU MUST STOP BY TO HANSEN AND CHECK THEM OUT!!!! 10 stars for them. more

With all the high reviews, I was so very disappointed with the customer service we received. We visited this location on a Thursday around 2 p.m. We walk in the door and no one even acknowledges us. We look at the pictures of cakes in a notebook that they had and after about 10 minutes the saleswoman FINALLY looks at us and asks if we need any help. I answer yes and she walks around the counter and goes to talk to her boss for almost 10 minutes! I was appalled and thought to myself, ""You just asked me if I needed help!"" more

I would give 0 stars if I could. I ordered a cake from Hansens for my wedding, we had to struggle to get any attention from the saleswoman. When we had to decrease the number of guests we were told our options were: 1. cut all the pieces smaller, 2. some guests could go without cake 3. purchase another tier for $100 We told them to take their cake and shove it. We have since ordered another cake from lovely La Creme Bakery and the difference in how a customer is treated is astounding!! Maybe if we had thousands of dollars to blow Hansens would have treated us better. If you just want a nice cake that doesn't break the bank take your business somewhere else!! I ordered my grandson's 1st Birthday cake from hansen's and his favorite character was the caterpillar from Baby Einstein and Hansen's aced it. The cake was so big and so pretty that we didn't want to cut it. When I picked it up from the bakery with my grandson he had the biggest smile on his face because he recognized the caterpillar. Great tasting cake as well. more

I have been a Hansen's customer for20 years and then some. The cakes have never failed to be amazing. I can't imagine the situations that people have written about the product being so horrible. The customer service issues are there but if a product is good, I can get past some things. All the flavors I have ordered are great. I have never had a problem with the decoration or last minute changes. I would say maybe I've been lucky but I have ordered too many cakes (from5 inch to 4 tier weddingcakes) for that to be the case. I had a dinner party at Ketchup restaurant this past weekend. I was searching for a good bakery but had heard a lot of bad things about this one bakery in particular, Hansen Cakes. After an unsuccessful search, i ended up at Hansen Cakes.Hansen Cakes created a giant size ketchup bottle cake for my ?th birthdat party. Not only was the cakes physical appearance flawless but the cake was absolutely delicious. I had the lemon cake with raspberry filling. Talking about moist and creamy. Umm, umm good. The cake was so beautiful that everyone that passed by the cake wanted to take a picture of it. I have been buying Hansen's cakes for the better part of 20 years. I have NEVER been disappointed in any way regarding quality, service, price, appearance. I gave a wedding cake to a friend as a gift for her wedding and the guestes LOVED it!! Anyone who does not appreciate these works of art should just go the grocery for their cakes-their loss!!! So I wanted to order a cake for my wife's birthday. I decided to call and ask about pricing. The woman who answered could not have been more rude. I did notice in the reviews that their customer service skills were lacking...you would think they would try to be a little nicer. I wanted infomation on the types of cakes and flavors. The woman simply seemed angry that I would ask about pricing. I don't think I would ever try doing business with this company again. If they are rude over the phone, I can imagine what they are like in person. They may have good cakes, but I also like doing business with merchants who care about customer service. This place is a joke. The original Mr. Hansen must be turning in his grave. What used to be a reputable place has turned into a dirty, run down place run by people from the wrong side of the tracks. It is blatantly obvious that the most recent 5 star reviews were all done from one Hansens employee (on the same exact day with the same tone of voice?? Yeah, right!). There are more 1 star ratings for this place than anything else and that's because the woman managing it is on commission and will try to rip you off. I had this fact confirmed by the other employees there! I recently went in to get a cake for a special occasion. First of all, the place is a disaster. The carpet and walls are filthy, the display shelves are bare, the signs were childlishly hand drawn, etc. But, I knew they made decent cakes, so I ignored the dismal appearance of the place. One of the girls gave me a price that I felt was fair. When it was time to pay the deposit, some other woman who claimed she was the manager came busting in and started badgering the girl right in front of me. Because I wanted dots on my cake, instead of $300 for the cake, it was now going to be $1200! I was dumbfounded and asked why placing simple dots would cost $900 more. The manager went on with some BS story about the complexity of this process. What??? It's not like the cake was going to feed an army of people! Just a simple 3 tiered cake with one inch dots is what I wanted! So I asked to speak to Mr. Hansen himself. Basically this man cowered in the back of the bakery and refused to come out. This is HIS bakery but he's allowed the ""manager"" to run this place to the ground. However, not all of the employees are like the manager. Most are helpful and will try to help you but whenever the boss lady comes around, forget it! She oversees every order and tries to rip you off because it goes in her own pocket! If you must get a cake from Hansens, go to the one in Beverly Hills! AWFUL PLACE! Pros: Can't think of one Cons: The manager, the filth, the ""service"". I wish I could give it a ZERO rating! more

Beware this bakery writes the 5 star reviews so they dont look like the bad bakery they really are. If you look at the recent 5 star reviews on fairfax and tarzana its all from the same people and the same day. They dont even sound like they are real customers it sounds like advertisment, also if you read what they say on their reviews it says the same thing on their website. Point is that i tried hansens twice and each time there was something wrong with my cake and each time a complained there was other people complaining about theirs!!! They even charge you extra to fix their mistakes!!! more

My boyfriend bough me a Hansen?s Cake for my birthday, it tasted great but I had the worst case of the the kraps for a week. I thought it was the food we had for dinner but it ended up being the cake. Every time I came back to have leftover cake, I got sick. It took me three days and many rolls of toilet paper to realize it was the cake. I called the bakery to let them know and I could hear the girl laughing.... Just wait until she has a cake! more

My parents, my children, and myself have all used Hansen's to make our wedding cakes. The quality of the bakery is legendary, and I have had only good experiences with the bakery. It's really cool to be able to ook back at phots from 68 years ago and see my parents cake, knowing that I can order the exact same cake today with the confidence that it will come out just as beautiful and tasty now. I found this bakery on citysearch when I was looking for a place to get my wedding cake. When I told my friends that I was going to hansens they all wanted to come with me for the free tasting party. We had a great time nibbling on the different samples and looking through the endless designs they offered before we decided on a simple stacked three tier. I've tried most of the bakeries in Los Angeles, but have to say that Hansen's Cakes has to have the most delicious. It is known that Hansen's is able to make anything out of cake, but the fact that it tastes good too is not as widely publicized. I just bought a cake shaped like a Mustang car from them, and paid close to $400.00. It was the talk of the party. I know that it seems like a lot of money for a cake, but I comparison shopped and found that Hansen's Cakes is on the low-end price wise when it comes to shaped cakes. The cake was ready at the time it was supposed to be, and the nice girl inside had a guy come out to carry it to my car, even though I could have done it myself.
