If you value your life, I certainly wouldn't rent equipment from this company. They certainly don't have insurance to cover an accident and/or dealth, which has been the case with this company. Just stop in and ask them if any of their rental equipment has resulted in a dealth! Run...as fast as you can....your life depends on it. more

If you are looking to rent a truck, PLEASE go elsewhere! These are absolute garbage and my most recent experience was when the rear doors opened, garbage fell out and I got a ticket! more

I've used Handy Andy multiple times as well as the competition. The best thing they have going by far is the U-cart concrete which as far as I'm aware has no competition other than the ready mix guys. As the other reviews have stated, the equipment is REALLY well worn which probably will but may not run as needed. When I have reported problems, I have encountered an attitude suggesting that I didn't know what I was talking about but I was never charged for equipment that didn't work. Bottom line is if you are on a tight schedule or are paying for someones time, go with the competition and feel more confident you won't be heading back to the shop 2 or 3 times to exchange your tools/equipment. Also, make sure you get the equipment protection. You don't want to be buying them a new tool when you break one that is 30+ years old. Access and parking is usually a zoo when they are batching concrete. more

Good: location. Bad: The Customer Service is Disgusting. I work in Customer Service and if I owned this Co. I would fire everyone and Hire people who WANT to WORK.. Improvements: Staff and equipment is old and worn out.. Other: I will never rent from this place again. If you like bad attitudes this is the place for you.. more

I put up with Handy Andys rude customer service and unsafe equipment for years because they are the only place in North Seattle that has U-haul concrete. The last time I used them they shorted me on concrete. I complained and they called me a liar. I am done. I'll mix my own concrete from now on. It's harder, but at least I won't be cheated and insulted. more

If you want to pay 50% more for gear that's been detailed between uses and someone to hold your hand while using it, go to Home Depot. If you know what you need and how to use it, want it cheaper and want to do local business, the guys at Handy Andy are the best. more

Ok... how many N.West family owned companys are there?... This one's ran by a Dad & 4 brothers that actually get along. You have to follow their common sense rules to rent the equipt. This is a really tough job & they are tough enough to handle the competent & the incompetent general public that show up to rent all kinds of various equipt. If I owned it I'd want an I.Q test on most of you dip-shits. They get 5 stars in my book. more

When you want equipment to get the job and that is what matters most then these are the guys!!! No frills but get it done mentality. I recommend these guys cause functionality is more important than cheesey have a nice day empty grins. I have rented lots and these guys all really know how each tool or truck works. You can only complain about this place if you have "no clue" to the world of moving, equipment rental, and price. They are conveninent, you get what you pay for, they are straight forward in pricing. so if you are complaining it is because you must not be accustom to doing your own work. Very easy to rent, return, and pay!! The only place to go!! more

If you want or need over the top service this is not your place! I go here to get good rates on working equipment. It is not pretty, but it functions and gets the job done. If someone got ripped off here it was probably because they didn't chech their mileage on the paperwork properly. Like any other place, check your paperwork and always take the rental insurance. It is cheaper in the long run. I have used their dump trailers on several occasions and they make unloading a breeze. I especially enjoy the look on the other guys faces when I pull up and push a button to unload yards of waste while they are sweating to unload all their crap! more

Have to totally disagree with the negative feedback and comments here. They are a very straight-forward, bare bones operation. Most of the rental equipments is beat-up and ugly, but they have a LOT of equipment, generally all of it works, and they know how use it! Their customer service is also very straight-forward, bare bones. They're typically very busy and don't have time to chit chat. For the best customer service from them, you should try to go in knowing what you want and what you're going to need for your project. You just can't beat their truck rentals - $20 a day, .49 cents a mile!. Sure, it's going to be an old beat up truck, but it will work, and what do you expect for that low of a price? Quite whining you bunch of metrosexual urbanites! more

Handy Andy has poor customer service. They charge you for miles not driven. Be sure to check the odometer on the truck before you drive off the lot - make sure the odometer reading matches what you signed in store. More importantly, when dropping off the truck, be sure to record the number of miles driven, because they will charge you for miles that were not driven. When you confront them with this discrepancy, as other former customers of Handy Andy stated, they will give you the run around. Handy Andy is NOT recommended to anyone. Honest business is NOT conducted at Handy Andy's. more

It is a learning curve to rent at Handy Andy's. This is a family owned and operated company with vast resources and knowledge. Yes the cement mixer is in an urban area, contained on a small lot. If the facility were to move the premixed cement would go away, it is grand fathered into the location. The trucks work. There are a lot of trucks there. I have never been stuck without. The trucks come and go regularly and at the end of a series of dump runs the guy at the counter simply takes my paper work. Other places have discussed a random dent with me. Last week my company had a contract to winterize a HUD house. I took the work without really knowing what to do. I went to Handy Andy's and the guy who usually doesn't say much began going over all the details with me. In all the years that I have done business there these have been the most knowledgeable group of people you could find. Some obscure tool can come out of that very back room with instructions on how to exactly use it. more

I can't believe all of the people complaining about Handy Andy. The equipment works, it's cheap and available. The guys are generally grumpy but know their stuff and they get you set-up correctly. more

They are one of the last bastians of no nonsense, no stupid smiley faces, no have a nice day bs that has infected our individualistic spoiled brat consumerism. I experienced the rudest customer service there ever! The dump truck was okay and I appreciated not having to unload, but the customer service is sending me straight to another business next time. One guy working there seems to have nothing better to do than to stand in your way in the driveway and then yell at you not to stop. If he yells at you, feel free to run him down for me, I wish I would have. more

Handy Andy almost always has the truck, machinery, or tool you're looking for, and cheaper than anywhere else. The rub is that you have to deal with a lot and procedure as disorganizied and filthy as Sanford & Son Salvage, totally un-maintained equipment, and a group of employess who clearly don't care much about you, what you're doing, or how to make your renting experience more pleasurable. With that said, if you can handle the trashy attitudes and equipment Handy Andy is great. If you need better service and equipment and would rather not be caught in one of their lawsuit-in-the-making pick-up trucks (and are willing to pay for it) then there are many other places where you can/should rent. more

This was the single worst experience with customer service and rentals ever. I was told to stand outside in the rain by a weird "stop" sign, while someone else was helped in the office. Not sure why I couldn't wait in the office- that was odd and how they have it set up for everyone. I was given attitude with every question and was almost yelled at for asking. The office and area is filthy- in order to ever move they'd have to burn the building- they couldn't possbily get everything out of there- clutter and filth to the worst degree. The rental truck was in shambles and ran terribly. I was scared driving it. I returned it with a full tank of gas and was given grief about not filling it enough. When I explained that the gas pump "clicked" and the needle was over the "F" on the gas gauge. I was treated as if I was trying to cheat them out of money. He said "how many times did it click?". Then I stood there and waited for someone to confirm the gas tank was full. When it was- they practically threw my charge slip at me to sign. It was horrible. Nobody told me that you have to overflow the gas tank onto the pavement or they'll treat you like a criminal. They have a sign saying that if you don't produce a receipt for your gas fill (after your rental)- they will charge you $10.00. It's a weird, creepy place and I will NEVER go back. Not only will I never go back- I'll let everyone possible know my story. more
