buffet grade sushi, low quality rice, not so happy server, great Tempura 4/29/2008

We stayed at Residence Inn Hughes center across the street from Hamada. After driving all day, we did not feel like driving to have dinner. We settled on Hamada, and it was a big disappointment. The building and decoration are nice and elegant. The workers are attentive. The waitress in a nice Japanese dress don't seem to be happy but it might be her bad day. The salad was small and too soured. The sushi were mushy and too sweet. However, the tempura was excellent. It even comes with blended daigon to go with dipping sauce. It is las vegas and there are a lot of choices. I won't be back there again. Pros: Close to our hotel, big and elegant facility Cons: below grade sushi more

one of the worst sushi !!!!! 4/17/2007

first of all the restaurant smell horrible, the food and service is far from great.I came once a year to vegas for convention and this used to be my favorite place, i dont know why they change so much in a year. I sat at sushi bar with four other people (which are my clients) and two of them are husband and wives ,the sushi bar waitress was paying to much attention to all the guys customers (including my client's husband) she was even asking him for his phone number, which i think is innapropriatte. The worst thing was waittres never paid attention for our drink, we have to keep asking her for refill, the fish is not fresh, and we never get our edamame and potsticker. I would never come to this restaurant again!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: horrible service more

Authentic Japanese Cuisine & Excellent Sushi! 4/16/2006

As a business traveler, I've dined at many Japanese restaurants on the west coast, including Los Angeles and Las Vegas...and consider this one of the BEST! I sampled almost everything on Hamada's sushi menu and was very impressed with the freshness. Their ""signature"" sushi rolls were great...I recommend the ""Yum Yum Roll"". My sushi chef was fast and obviously very experienced. I selected a premium sake off their list and was very satisified with the temperature and flavor. On my return visit to Hamada of Japan, our group dined in the Teppan Room. The hibachi chef was delightful entertainment and a seasoned chef! Our kobe beef was primo and the overall dinner portions, generous. The authentic Japanese cuisine, Japanese kimono-clad waitresses, and beautiful decor only added to our visit. I think Las Vegas has a gem here. I will definitely be back, Hamada...save me a seat at the Sushi Bar! Pros: Authentic Cuisine, Freshest Sushi, Beautiful Decor Cons: N/A, N/A, N/A more

Save your money and go elsewhere 2/15/2006

I was meeting someone for dinner. I went to the bar for a beer [$3.50]. When my date arrived she ordered Merlot . There were only three others at the bar and the bartender forgot for 10 minutes--I had to remind him. I asked what I owed for the wine. After five minutes he returned and said ""It's Nine Dollars {!!!] but the register is stuck & I cant figure tax!"" I infomed him that the tax is included the price of drinks, [who trained this guy???]. At the table, we ordered two hot appetizers and three sushi rolls. The first appetizer arrived literally in 60 seconds flat--everything else took 20 minutes! The pork Kyozo was good but the chicken appy. was overcooked & dry. The sushi was just OK. Bottom line---if you like poor service, overpriced wine, and not so good food, then Hamada is for you. Pros: Nice building Cons: Poor service, Overpriced wine, Food so-so more

What's Hamada with you? 8/31/2005

First impressions go a long way. Walked in and the entire restaraunt smelled like raw sewage. The restaraunt decor was something out of a dive bar. The sushi was far from fresh, the tempura appetizer was small and tasteless. We sat at the Teppan Grill. The food was ridiculously overpriced and far from delicious. I, along with most of the people at my table orders the NY steak and Scallops. The scallops were the only decent thing I tasted all night. The quality of the steak was less than adequate for the price. The drinks were watered down, and the service was lacking. I would not recomend this restaraunt to even my worst enemy. 10 thumbs down.....bow your head in shame. Pros: scallops Cons: Everything else more

An Expensive Disappointment 12/8/2002

Dark and dingy for a reason -terrible food - sushi stale, california rolls frozen solid and udon undercooked and hard - a terrible and expensive disappointment that leaves one wondering how japanese restaurants can charge the prices they do and get away with it. Cons: too mant to list more
