Halo Salon

I was looking for a new salon after being very disappointed with the decreasing service and professionalism at a well known Seattle salon that I had been using for many years. You know how hard it is to change colorists and stylists, even when you are becoming dissatisfied. So I was nervous about trying out Halo, for color and highlights no less! It was the reviews in Citysearch that convinced me to try Halo - and it was the superb color I received from one of the owners, Laura, that made me come back for a cut 2 weeks later. After the same boring cut at the other salon, she analyzed the shape of my face and did something different which I love! I have been back twice for color, a cut, and a fabulous keratin treatment. Laura is kind, knowledgeable, skilled and the vibe is laid back - not pretentious. Halo is the BEST! more

There are so many great things I can say about Halo. Every stylist at Halo is very talented and they each bring a fresh and unique style of their own. I've been going to Laura (owner/stylist) for a few years and I absolutely love her, but the cuts and color I've seen by the other stylists are amazing, too. I have many friends who go to Halo and depending on the cut or style of their hair, they work with the stylist that is right for them. Halo has a stylist for everybody. Colleen has been cutting my hair for a few years now. She has colored my hair many shades of blonde and brown over the years, and has taken me from long to short and everywhere in between. She is amazing! She is able to give me sophisticated, edgy or any style in between. Sometimes I let too much time lapse between hair cuts and her cuts always grow out nicely. I have sent many friends and family members to her and not one (that's right, not even one person) has been disappointed. She is an amazing stylist and an absolute delight to be around. Halo is my all time favorite salon, and I've been to most of the ""top"" salons here in Seattle. I can count on Jen to give me an amazing cut every time I go in - PLUS she's got a great personality. I'm one of those people who's kinda clueless when it comes to hair & makeup, but she always gives me styling tips - and I get so many compliments on my hair.... from the day of the cut, right up until the day before my next appointment. more

I love Halo! I've been going there for three years now and every time I'm so incredibly pleased with it. I have worked with Jen, Stephanie, and Medina and have been very very VERY happy with all of them. I now use just Jen (Medina was a one time deal because Jen was gone, Stephanie is great but a little pricey for me) and my hair has never looked better! Not only is Jen so much fun AND incredibly good at her job, but she actually remembers you and treats you like an old friend. I've been to other salons like Gene Juarez and was sick of being treated like a number and sick of having stupid conversations about my favorite TV shows and the like. Jen is fresh, fun, and so real about what works and doesn't work for you. (which is amazing!) Go to Jen and you won't regret it! Colleen has been my stylist for 3 years, and I wouldn't go to anyone else! I have unruly wavy hair that is difficult to cut, but Colleen does a wonderful job every time! I constantly get compliments from random people on the street wanting to know who does my hair. She also does a great job with highlights, and at a reasonable price! I found Halo a couple of years ago and have had Jen is my primary stylist ever since. (I also use to see Colleen before she left on maternity leave?she's back now?and she rocks too.) All the stylist there are outstanding and Jen always gives me a fantastic haircut and color. She has completely made me over. My husband and I built a house about a year ago and we were on well water that had extremely high iron content which damaged my hair (we've since figured this out and corrected the problem). During the first few weeks of living there my hair got an orange tint to it (I'm blond) and was extremely damaged. (it was so weird it could be a topic at a hair seminar some day?ah, country folk) but superwoman Jen conservatively corrected it so not to damage it further. The staff at Halo are also wonderful and make sure their clientele are comfortable and pampered. I travel all the way from Marrowstone Island on the Peninsula just to have my hair done there. That's a 1:15 hour drive and a ferry ride folks. That should say it all! And when I leave Halo and spend the day in Seattle shopping or whatever I get several comments on how fab my hair looks! Halo's well worth the trip, the prices are reasonable and its very chic, art shows and all, without going over the top. Love it. more

Jen is my regular hair stylist. She has never let me down, I consistently leave Halo feeling beautiful and stylish. I have had both color and cuts from her and she rocks! I've been going to Jen for over two years and have received consistently amazing cuts. Jen is extremely friendly and somehow manages to add texture and depth even to the simplest of cuts. I've tried out quite a few of the salons/stylist in downtown and capitol hill, and Halo is hands down the best. It has great decor (they feature constantly changing artwork from local artists) and extremely talented stylists--and, unlike most salons in the area, the staff is down to earth and completely unpretentious. I had an idea of what I wanted my hair cut to look like but I was hoping to get some input from the stylist. Colleen, the stylist, listened to what my general ideas were and then made them better. It was obvious that doing a great job was important to her as well as to me. She took ownership in the process. That does not mean she told me what would look best and did not care what I thought. It was a collaboration. The sort of experience most people would envision from a great stylist. Now that said, it's nice that she cared and had fantastic input but lets face it that only gets you so far. If she can't back the ideas and customer service up with solid cutting and coloring skills. Happily she can and she did. I love my hair cut!! My boyfriend and others comment on how cute it is often. The color is perfect. Unless you knew it was colored you wouldn't. It looks that natural. I've been going to Colleen at Halo for the past 18 months and have had an excellent experience. I was referred to Halo by my previous stylist in Austin, TX. Since I've been going to Halo, my hair looks great! I've had so many compliments. I'd describe Halo as a comfortable, unfussy yet stylish place with genuine, friendly staff. Colleen has found a nice balance of color & highlights for my hair that suits my skin-tone. She has given me haircuts with subtle layers that grow out nicely and that look good all the way 'til my next cut, unlike sloppier 'dos I've had in the past. As a stylist,Colleen is a attentive, professional, prompt and she knows her stuff, so she's fast, which I totally appreciate!! I feel comfortable having my hair in her capable hands! Thanks Colleen! Halo is a great salon with reasonable prices and a comfortable (yet very hip) atmosphere. Colleen Christian has been cutting my straight hair since 2005, taking it from long layers to short and hip with subtle changes in between?always with great results. She's also good at hearing what you have to say about your style and maintenance routine, makes thoughtful but never pushy suggestions, and remembers those details for later visits. I've never really stayed loyal to a stylist for this long, she's friendly and fabulous! Pros: Good prices for skilled cuts more

Johnathan is the color master!! I recently moved to Seattle, and finding the right colorist has been a nightmare, not to mention all the money wasted on bad highlights. When I started seeing him for my hair, the journey of finding the perfect match was over. I no longer have to worry about someone frying my hair, or doing what they want instead of what I want. Not only does he do a phenomenal job, but he also understands a great deal about the chemistry of hair color, so when he envisions something it comes out exactly the same (no hidden surprises). Medina has cut and colored (foils) my hair several times and each time is better than the last. She told me she spent a week prior to my appointment thinking about my hair to determine what the absolute best look for me (for the shape of my face and my coloring) and her dedication to excellence totally showed! My hair is the best it's looked in 5 years. People on the street stop me and ask for my hairdressers name - because I look SO FREAKING FABULOUS!! : ) more

I saw Robin, he was so sweet. I was blond and wanted to go dark, we talked alot about the pro's and con's. He wanted me to know exactly what I was getting into. In the end I decided to do it and absolutly love it. The color is a rich dark brown, it was shine, healthy and I feel beautiful. I will trust Robin with my hair, I can finally feel loyal to 1 hairdresser! Pros: The people who work here are happy, you can tell they have fun! more

Johnathan is amazing with blondes. It has been so long since someone made me that blonde, with no damage. I have fine, long hair so it tends to get damaged easy. Give the boy a try, and try a deep condition it helps alot! more
