I made an appointment on a whim about 10 years ago...after being sick of going to overpriced salons in Shadyside where the stylists never remembered who I was or seemed to care. I had a great experience and Glen has been my stylist ever since. If you want a friendly, down-to-earth place to call your salon, you want Hair Friends. The prices are reasonable and every stylist is well-trained. I have referred numerous friends and coworkers to Hair Friends over the years, and all of them have had equally good experiences. Give it a try, you won't be sorry! more

love it! 10/7/2011

I went to this salon as a walk-in in a Friday afternoon and waited less than ten minutes before I was getting my hair shampooed. Every stylist was friendly and gave me advice for my hair. I had Bess and she did a fantastic job. I told her what I wanted (just a trim and my bangs fixed) and she asked if she could do a little more. She did a fantastic job and gave me bangs that work with my hair (very fine, thin, and I have a cowlick) which has never happened before. She really knew what she was doing. She gave me great layers that everyone has been complimenting. The salon is very cute and all of the stylists seem like they know what they're doing. It was about $30 for a shampoo, cut and style and they take debit cards. I'd say my cut was worth the price! more

Client for 10 years and still love it! 1/6/2009

This place is awesome. The stylists are always up on the up-to-the-minute styles and can help you be as conservative or funky (really!) as you want to be. There are several stylists with varying levels of pricing (not really an indication of expertise), notably Bill Rizzo (owner) as the most expensive but is also the hardest to get an appointment with as he seems to have a really loyal following. They are always interested in you and what you are really looking for, and you don't have to worry about walking away with something unstylish. They color everything from highlights to pink or purple locks, and perm and wax. Bill always has the most interesting music playing (which he mixes to his iPod), which also always makes it a fun place to be. I highly recommend them! Pros: major style, nice atmosphere Cons: a bit pricey bu worth it more
