Great service! and good for quality not quantity 1/27/2007

The owner and staff at H.B. have been outstanding! My son has been pretty tall, but small feet in relation and he was falling a lot as a toddler. The folks at the store spent a lot of time on multiple occasions measuring him, letting him play to try out the shoes, and giving me feedback and guidance on how to buy, given how fast he grows! They offered to put weatherproofing stuff on anytime I came in (for his fall/winter shoes) and were unbelievably patient when my son wanted to pull each and every shoe off the display. The shoes are expensive, so I buy one pair per season and that's all I can do. I've bought several pair secondhand at other places and had some cute hand-me-downs, which are certainly more economical, but they have never fit as well. more

One word SNOTTY 11/7/2005

This store had potential, however they in no way lived up to it. The selection is small (high quality but still small.) While they have lots of cutesy girly items they had practically no boy items. The help was very snotty and was not very friendly towards my 1 year old son who was not that into buying shoes. If I wanted no service I would have bought on-line!!!!!!! I did end up buying a pair of $65 shoes for my son and at that price we should be getting something more than just the shoes. While they are high end italian shoes, most people aren't going to pay that much for a one year old. Overall, a store with potential, but if they want business maybe they need to come down off their throne and realize that some "regular" people want to buy nice items for their children and maybe I didn't drive up in a beamer or mercedes, but they money I save on my chevy payment goes to buying my son $65 shoes!!!!! I am not going back to this store, I can get the same product without the SNOTTY ATITUDE at Nordstrom's and the shoes clerks there actually take the time with my son. more

Fun store - great funky shoes for kids! 9/27/2005

This cute little shoe store in Westmoreland (at the corner of Bybee and Milwaukie) is a fun one to visit if you have kids. They are known for their cute and funky footwear for children, plus they have other accessories (tights, socks, belts, etc.) and a small selection of clothing and gifts as well. Adorable little boots for puddle jumping and high-end European shoes for the well-dressed child - this store has it all. Their prices are definitely on the high side, but the items they sell are high quality and worth the extra money if you have it to spend on shoes. The staff is quite friendly and helpful and the store itself is fun to poke around in and is user-friendly for kids. If you can't find a spot to park on the strreet in front, you can use the public lot just one block down and across the street. more

The best local kids' shoes 8/16/2005

We've started buying our kids just one pair of shoes at each size. Good shoes, that make their feet feel good, that look great, and that are not made in an Asian country. Sometimes, these shoes cost us more than we spend on their entire seasonal wardrobe, what with hand-me-downs and Target (where everything comes from an Asian country). We get these shoes at Haggis McBaggis. They have beautiful children's shoes, as well as being a fun and seriously child-friendly store. They have some of the same styles as Nordstrom, and similar prices, but they are a mom-and-pop shop that is worth the trip if you were going to buy your child nice shoes anyway. Plus, cute accessories, locally made children's clothes, and some shoes for mom, too. more

Gotta love it! 7/15/2005

I have become a regular of this fantastic kid's store in Westmoreland (Portland). This is the only children's store where I feel the staff truly likes my nieces. They are so helpful and friendly, and their shoes and clothes and hats and toys all have that wonderful, quirky sensibility that says: these folks LOVE kids. The whole store is set up to let me shop while my seven and three year old are content. It's the only store my nieces get excited about going to. Doesn't that say it all? more
