good experience 3/23/2012

I went in to look around. They were busy but friendly. I saw a Martin 00-15m guitar on the wall that I had looked for in other places. I got to play the guitar and listen to clerk play it also. My schedule worked out where I was returning to Nashville the next week. I bought in a used guitar hoping to trade for the new one I wanted. I got to try 3 of the model I wanted and pick the one that sounded best to me. This is good as guitars of same make and model will sound a little different. What sounds good to one may not sound good to you. They made me a fair offer and I agreed. They set up the new guitar. I am happy with the entire encounter and will return. I did lower my strings a bit when I got home. This is also personal preference. Prices were competitive with other places. more

Sorry excuse for a music store 10/24/2009

As a pro player that's played with some notable acts, I can safely say that this is NOT a real guitar store, but rather an over priced gift shop on Broadway. The employees are rude and unhelpful, and I couldn't find a single guitar that didn't have crusty strings. I imagine that years of dealing with tourists and tire kickers has jaded them, but even when my friend nicely asked the man if he could play a guitar, his response was a rude and resounding ""Use Both Hands"". That's it. If you're visiting Nashville, I suppose it's worth stopping in to have a look, but if you're a real player, save your money for a real guitar store. Cons: Overpriced, Rude Employees more

Friendliest Manager 6/12/2006

Don't know how to play an instrument? Like to just people watch as others pluck strings and tune forks? Not a problem at Gruhn Guitars. I walked in with zero talent and only a video camera hoping to score a celebrity buying a new Gibson. Instead I was offered the next best alternative - one of the owners showing off his collection of vintage hubcab guitars. He even played a few minutes. Friendly, clean, not obnoxious like most guitar shops -this is the place to come if you can indeed play! Pros: Cool Brick Building, Nice Salespeople, Lots of Collectibles more
