This is my first review. before this, i never bothered to register to write any reviews. but anyway, i was reading the village voice about the castimidis, the owner of gristedes, who wants to become mayor. i suddenly thought of the gristedes on 8th ave and 54th street. i always found that store particularly dirty. i'm new to manhattan, so i didnt have much to compare it to. however, the aisles aren't very clean, the produce doesn't look very good, everything about that store just bothers me. a much better supermarket, in terms of cleanliness and is the d'agostino on 53rd and 10th. 10th avenue is just kind of sketchier so i go there less frequently. but it's much nicer. and the westerly is right next to gristedes, it's cheaper, all the products are like healthier and organic, and better for you. gristedes should be called grosstedes!
Pros: convenient
Cons: dirty, expensive, small aisles
